“Nice Hotel-A Travel Agents Dream”
Reviewed 28 August 2014 via mobile

This is a very lovely hotel with large rooms, beautiful grounds, a nice swimming pool and attentive service.
Convenient to Sienna and many other smaller towns.

A large restaurant on site with a large breakfast offering. I did not eat any other meals here as we went out every night but it was usually crowded.

The reason a travel agent likes it is the rate is 3 times the rate of other highly rated ( trip advisor) hotels in the area.

Our group spent very little time in our rooms and on site.
We left to tour the area after breakfast every day so I would stay elsewhere next time and spend the difference on the great food and wine in the area.

It is however a lovely place and if we had spent more time relaxing around the pool we might have felt differently.

We recently stayed a Amorosa with friends who had been there once before, and during a week touring the wine country. It is a winery whose ancient vine covered buildings have been slowly restored, and could not be more picturesque. If you want the feel of old Italy you will find it in the architecture here. It sits apart from the town of Sinalunga on a hillside that is quite and relaxing. It is a place where you can take long walks in the vineyards with views of the town and hillside. Sit in the courtyard and enjoy a bottle of wine before dinner in the evening.

The rooms are spacious, well appointed and as comfortable as any where we stayed during our two weeks. Certainly a huge step up from what they consider a four star hotel in Florence or Paris. We ate at some amazing Michelin restaurants in Italy and France, and I disagree with the negative reviews of the food at the restaurant. Our the dishes were creative and our meals were delicious. For those who want to venture into the city, the recommendations of Forcillos in Sinalunga was one of the best we received.

This "Locanda" is a good base of operations for trips to wineries in Southern Tuscany, Montepulcino and even Montalcino. I find it hard to believe anyone would be disappointed in this hotel.

Our family relaxed at Locanda for five days this past June and after the frenetic pace of Rome, this one-time village from the 1300s was quite an experience. All of our family (kids 17,23 and 26) loved it as well as all the staff were gracious in a setting that is spectacular! We thought the food was pretty good overall and yes, breakfast was the best meal and you could do it buffet style and take your time. The wine list as mentioned by others is excellent and certainly priced way more fairly that we found as for example, in Venice. Locanda was a great home base to drive around to other areas such as Cortona, where a good part of 2003's "Under The Tuscan Sun" was filmed and to sample a knockout food/wine pairing lunch with Silvano and Rita at Tenuta Casanova about one hour northwest of the hotel. Trequanda, a neat walled medieval town 5 miles west of the hotel, provided an excellent change-of pace one night of the five as you could walk it all in a few minutes, have excellent views at the top and then have dinner at one of the restaurants. Florence is exactly one hour away by car and is worth a trip as well. Locanda's property was wonderful with the church, pool and wine bar and we even arranged for a family cooking class done out of the wine bar's kitchen where we prepared our own lunch. The hotel did not actually organize this, but our travel firm, Brownell Travel, out of Atlanta, Georgia did. The hotel was very accommodating of having someone from the outside come in and do this. We also did a family photo shoot one afternoon on the property where Brownell arranged for a local photograher and the results were outstanding given the eye-candy setting. This is a great property to consider if you truly want a different hotel experience. The rooms are very spacious, the bathrooms modern enough and while the beds were somewhat firm, they did not affect our sleep and we all slept well. Rooms do have A/C units and that helped as the temps were low 90s in early June for our visit. The rolling terrain in all directions always gave us something to look at and the initial drive in, up Locanda's stunning driveway, started all off on the right foot. Bocchi ball on the lawn was a another nice touch along with numerous places to sit outside. We would return in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: 54 is a stunner and 56 is not bad either with plenty of space and over the wine bar which is totally...

This was our second visit to locanda dell'amorosa. We were traveling with our 5 year old daughter and my parents who are in their 70s. The property is lovely and quiet. But the staff is exceptional. They were professional, courteous, and warm. Aziza at the front desk was super-helpful. They were very accommodating with our daughter. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
The only downside is the on-site restaurant. On our previous visit, the food was spectacular. This time around, it was mediocre.

If you close your eyes and dream of the most incredible trip to Tuscany, Locanda is the place.
I cannot begin to explain the magic that happens in this villa, from the moment you step into the cobble stone center and then into your room that is truly the most incredible experience.
The staff is beyond amazing. The food, the smells of lemon and lavender!!
If you make a trip to Italy, stay at this amazing resort. You will never forget it and you will do everything you can to come back again and again!
The villa manager was able to procure a road bike for me, so I was able to ride into the sunflower fields every morning before the summer heat set in!

Room Tip: All the rooms are amazing!

Stayed here recently with Trek Travel. It was a fabulous location; just magical. The pool here is not to be missed. Dinner was fabulous; though don't expect American type 'fast service' to get you in and out as quickly as possible. ... as you shouldn't anywhere in Tuscany. The room was not as rustic an interesting as some of the other places we stayed but it was very spacious and clean. The place itself is fabulous!

Maybe we hit the lottery but the room we had was unbelievable. Enormous with an enormous bed for 2. 2 Bathrooms and every amenity imaginable. Expensive, yes but that is what you are engaging here. Location is beautiful with lovely views. The hotel itself is stunning with stunning grounds. It's as large as a small village with its own church (very beautiful). Breakfast was the best meal we had there as the restaurant is not that special but the wine list is very special for those who want to try the best of Italy and Tuscany.

The location exudes an atmosphere of true serenity and sweetness and anyone exposed to it will be awestruck. Each room has its own character and design.
