“stunning & dramatic”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

Reached Geiranger on a cruise. Very impressive steep side fjord with dramatic rock sides and waterfalls. The area is a World Heritage Site and is extremely striking.
The village itself is small, with several paths up to more waterfalls and views.
Take a coach trip to Dalsnibba summit for a scary ride up multiple hairpins and a birdseye view of the world.
Have your camera fully charged up!

“Spectacular Scenery”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

Norway's fiords are without a doubt spectacular. To be honest, not one is "better" than another, they are ALL beautiful. We saw it while sailing on a cruise, maybe the best way to go!

Arrived on the hurtigruten so saw the fjord by boat and it's beautiful with lots of waterfalls. Actually we thought walking gave you even better views as you are climbing high to look down on the fjord

“Geirangerfjord is breathtaking, but be careful on netbus tourist bus”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

We booked the Alesund-Geirangerfjord roundtrip on netbuss through the Alesund tourist office in June. We loved seeing the fjord and thought is was breathtaking. However, we regret taking this method to get there as the trip was a series of literally seven different busses and ferries. You got off one bus, and waited for another.

The part of the trip that they especially need to improve is that when you get off the ferry in Geirangerfjord, they do not clearly tell you where to go to catch your return bus back to Alesund two hours later. Our receipt was not in English, and it looked like we had to catch our bus at the Hotel Union on top of the hill at 4:10 p.m.

So we raced up the very steep hill (over a mile) to the Hotel Union, huffing and puffing. We later found out we just had to be in the center of town right where we had been walking. Fortunately for us, a different tour bus driver drove us back down the hill to the right spot where our bus back to Alesund was leaving at 4:20 p.m. We are grateful for his kindness, as we could never have made it down the hill in time for our bus without him. So if you take this method to go from Alesund to Geirgangerfjord, find out where you need to be to catch your return bus since no one tells you ahead of time.

“Most Beautiful”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

Geiranger is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Traveling through the fjord to get to this port was just breathtaking! The falls were georgeous especially The Seven Sisters. We were lucky to have such a nice day and took the time to walk around this tiny town. Don't miss the chocolate shop - tasty samples! Also take the time to tour and check out the views from the road that leads up and over but be prepared for the hairpin turns - WOW!
