“Luna Alvor Village Hotel”
Reviewed 21 June 2012

The design of the rooms was very modern, whoever design them deserves an award. Its an ideal place for family as there is a pool and one for infants, very quiet location, perhaps a 10 - 15 minute walk to the village of Alvor. The staff were very pleasant and those on reception were very helpful. The breakfast was good with a mix of the cooked breakfast and healthy option. Went for bed and breakfast option, the hotel does not do meals in the evening but there is a wealth of choice in Alvor, ideal for those who like seafood. The interent desk was slow but perhaps its best to forget emails and internet and concentrate on enjoying your time here with family. Getting taxi's in Alvor is expensive so perhaps car hire for the family would work out a cheaper option in the long run. The hotel do provide a shuttle bus to the beach twice during the day, the walk to the beach is perhaps 20 to 30 mins though, with such good weather perhaps walking is the best and healthy option. The hotel was clean and spotless so overall I could not find any fault and was happy to have selected such a good one.

We have had a nice, quiet hassle free holiday here in Alvor village. It is walking distance to most places.

It's extremely clean, nice and modern. Our room was comfortable and clean. Staff are helpful. Also it's worth mentioning that the class of guest here is very nice. Good people, and any of them who had kids were well behaved and polite.

The only fault I'd find would be the breakfast. Although I seem to be in the minority about this on trip advisor. In general in the restaurant to food is fairly basic, but very edible!

A big shop is Pingo just around the corner. Walking home at night is safe. The pool area was very serene, we had no problem getting umbrellas or sun loungers.

Our room was cleaned EVERY DAY! But you have to make sure to leave the CLEAN ROOM sign out.

I would say we will almost definitely come back, with a baby next time :)

This hotel does not cook dinner or lunches. When we arrived there, we were given 14 vouchers
for our evening meals. We had to leave the hotel and we were given 6 different places of their
choice. As we arrived at each of these resteruants, the main menu was produced, but when we
showed our vouchers, every thing changed. The main menu was taken away, and we were given a "paupers menu" with little to choose from. After 4 evenings of being treated as second class dinners, we were so annoyed & stressed. We decided to go elsewhere and pay for our meals.
The Hotel is lovely and staff were lovely. But would only recommend it for self catering.
Big dissapointment money wise.

we have just got back from a 10 day holiday at the alvor village , we travelled as a group 5 2 couples and a 10 yr old boy

we wanted for nothing in this hotel the rooms were exceptional , fully functional kitchen incl a dishwasher a massive table for family meals etc ,

we stayed in room 101 a 2 bed apt , the lounge area provided a double sofa bed for the child which he found very comfortable
all the rooms had digital air cond you can control with a remote which we all found very welcoming especially at night time .
the maid came every day but you have to make sure you put your room service tag on your door handle

we had a pool view room with the BIGGEST balcony i have ever seen in my life it was lovely to sit at night time and have a few beers , i would recommend getting a front of hotel room if you like the last of the sun , the sun comes up over the pool which is lovely if you like to open your curtains and watch it come up !

breakfast was incredible with a choice of cooked or continental it did get a bit samey after a week though as nothing changed but it was all very well cooked and replenished quickly .

the pool is lovely it was maintained every day

i would recommened this hotel to any one who wants a restfull break , however the beach is a walk away but we enjoyed the walk through alvor town every day
the hotel does provide a bus to the beach

Just returned from a lovely week in The Algarve.
Alvor Village fresh, spacious, well equipped rooms/foyer/lounge/sundeck/pool/food hall.
Loved this accomodation and would highly recommend.
Breakfast was good, no evening meals available but plenty of decent restuarants available locally, try to use the ones frequented by the Portugese!

Room Tip: Poolside rooms have lovely views.

Friendly check-in, no fuss.

Pool view suite, (No.007), very comfortable with sofa, dining table and 4 chairs, full size fridge, dishwasher etc.

Very quiet during the evenings, so relaxing. Bar open until around midnight but few customers during our stay in May 2012.

Free wi fi in the reception/lounge area and a very good connection indeed.

Busy at breakfast time, decent buffet on offer, self service including tea/coffee. Option to sit outside if very busy or perhaps for smokers?

Excellent AC, in both the lounge area and in the bedroom area.

Close to Pingo Doce supermarket, not huge but with a very good range of food items... and wine. Easy to walk to, but perhaps not so good if you buy lots and then want to walk back to the hotel.

Niggles...?.... the toaster didn't work and there were no batteries in the TV remote,( so I bought some). You have to supply your own washing up liquied and dishwasher tablets.

All in all a good hotel, with excellent rooms, comfy beds and lots of space.

Room Tip: Pool view suites are worth the extra cost........... and although the other rooms are basically car...

Excellent hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel very modern and rooms were very spacious. Quiet and relaxing with with plenty of space to sit on the outside terrace. Lovely views from the balcony. Short walk into Alvor itself where there is a super selection of bars and restaurants. Would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: pool facing rooms have a lovely view
