“Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

I am going to be quick in my opinion of The Pastana Delfim Location was good 4 euro's into Alvor .Views were amazing we had sea views on the 7th floor which also had views of Alvor and Lagos.Rooms were spotlessly clean as were the bathroom.Very spacious with a handy fridge to keep your water/drinks [and make-up!!!]cool.Outdoor pool was very large and people did swim in it although a few gasps were heard because it was so cold.Outdoor area was lovely lawns to sunbathe on and plenty of space one of the nicest outside area's I have seen tennis courts,a mini football pitch, besides the gym and indoor pool[very very small you would find it hard to swim in I thought it was a water feature and was looking for the fish!!I would not call it a swimming pool only for children perhaps].Drink's were good and the fresh orange juice from the bar was lovely.Large or small bottles of water whenever you needed it.Staff lovely and very hard working. Now my only complaint and by the way this is just my honest opinion,I found the food to be terrible so much so that we had to go out to eat,we didn't mind but this did let the Delfim down and quite a few people made comments about how bad the food was.Sprouts in a tomato/pasta sauce?Garlic on practically everything some people do not like garlic it was even on the breakfast tomatoes. All the cooked food seemed very oily again not all people like oily food.My husband who is not a fussy eater and will try food could not eat a lot of what was on offer.I do think people who take children to this hotel would have a difficult time getting them to eat the food.I state this is my opinion I've been to hotel's with less going for them but the food has been a lot better than the Delfim.People who I spoke to in Alvor said a lot of the client's from the Delfim were going to the village to eat and how the food had gone down hill.Sorry to say I won't go back to this hotel because of the food.

This really is a perfect hotel for golfers...the courses all within 30 mins of hotel are excellent but my biggest rating goes to the hotel and staff who were excellent for what we wanted....food was 8/10 and alcohol was plentiful.....just ask to not stay on the 3rd floor.....VERY NOISY!!!!!!

There was aparty of 10 adults we had a lovely holiday food was good plent of variety no complaints from any of our party. Yes the Hotel is dated but it is very clean. The beach is lovely to stroll along with especially all the coves to go in. We will be returning next year, men play golf and the girls chill in the sun what more can anyone ask for!!!

on a return visit no overall change since last visit. The hotel looks dated and in a time zone, rooms though large andfunctional are outdated. The hotel is 15 minutes from town centre though easy access to good beach.the food was average .The staff were polite and friendly.Mostly occupied by groups of golfers.

Hotel needs a refurbishment, rooms are a good size. Food disappointing, nothing really to complain about but similar every day. Air con not very good, everywhere was too hot. Staff very helpful but not enough of them.

Room Tip: Sea view or pool view

We stayed at the hotel Oct 2013, party of twelve golfers. Hotel was somewhat dated and in need of refurbishment, but rooms were clean and the food was good. Entertainment was poor but as Alvor was only 5 mins. in a taxi good selection of bars and restaurants. Having played golf in Spain and Turkey I have always found the Hotel phones to be cheaper than my pay as you go mobile. I made two 4 min and one 4 sec.(answer machine at home) calls to the UK and when I checked out was present with a bill for 36.05 euros for my calls, what an absolute rip off. I will always check the hotels telephone charges in future if we go back to Portugal.

After the trauma of being victims of the deliberate overbooking policy of the Dom Joao 11 (not being told until we arrived at the desk ! ) we were transferred to the Delfim - along with 35 other guests over a two day period !
However we soon settled in and overall had a excellent holiday .The hotel is very clean , the staff are very friendly (unlike the Dom Joao ) the food is more than adequate and there was plenty of space in the outer areas .
We would definately use this hotel again but Thomson really need to find out what Dom Joao"s game is - one or two overbookings is understandable but tens every day is not .
Thomson rep Clara saved the day - absolutely superb girl with her help , efficiency and friendliness .

Room Tip: We had rooms 902 /903 sea facing - excellent .
