Good food, large portions, staff attentive. Recommend booking to avoid disappointment. We were offered. Free wine with our meal which was a real bonus. The swordfish and sole kebabs were cooked well and came with potatoes, chips and lovely vegetables. Salads were huge only have as a main for four adults we paid 80 euros with 2 courses, and drinks and tip which was well deserved.

Decided to visit here based on the great reviews. We had no reservation but got the last table. First visit was great- couvert best we've had. Mains of chicken piri piri and flambé prawns were incredible. Finished with a shared dessert of chocolate tart- delicious. With a free half bottle of wine and free port the bill came to about €40- great value.

We decided to book again for the following sat night. Unfortunately it was hard to believe we were in the same place. There were 2 large groups in and every table was full- loos like everyone was booked in for 7.30. With only 2 staff they were really under pressure and the service really suffered. Our orders didn't get taken for about 30 mins. Starters arrived bout 8.30 but it was close to 9.30 before we had our mains. Food was still good but the poor service was v disappointing. Not sure I'd go back if I returned to alvor.

We were recommended to try this restaurant by friends who had visited and we weren't disappointed. We had the table for four by the window, by far the nicest as it's only a small room but that said the food was so good I don't think we'd have noticed where we were sitting. We were offered a free bottle of wine, a nice touch. We had chicken kebab with pineapple, chilli con carne, fish kebab and salmon together with a variety of starters. These together with another bottle of wine and free port came to €72. We enjoyed it so much we booked for a second visit and again were not disappointed. Our meals on the 2nd visit were salmon, sole surprise and pork loin which were fantastic. We shared the couvert to start as we'd all been very well fed the first time. Would recommend highly.

We have been coming to Alvor for at least six weeks every year for the past thirty years and have eaten good food in several good restuarants. This trip it was recommended we try the Salsa Bistro. We did so with no expectations and we were totally surprised by the excellent food, the good atmosphere and the quiet but efficient service from the staff. It is a must if you like quality dining at a very reason cost. It is small so prior booking is a good idea - we have booked to visit again later in the week.

We had eaten here before and couldn't wait to go back
We even phoned our booking from Ireland
Started off well even though we were offered a table inside beside another couple
We spotted a reserved sign at a window seat and we asked to be moved
Offered the usual half bottle of wine free
We listened as the four persons beside us asked if they could have a rose wine instead of red or white and I was shocked with the waitress reply
Surely they could swop for a Rose
Anyway we had a starter of prawn and avacodo salad
The dressing or the colour of the sauce looked horrible like blue
It made the prawns look Raw again
We asked for a small piece of bread with this nearly ten euro starter and were charged for the bread and the butter
Mains were just okay the bacon in the pasta dish was cheap sliced ham
Then when we got the bill the waitress told us the boss opens a new restaurant in Portinao
Maybe he should take care of this one first
