location is 30 mins drive from faro airport, got suntransfers.com to pick us up. Excellent service they provided. Hotel is lovely. nice and clean, very modern as its only 2 years old. Rooms are apartments, got ur kitchen area, one sofa bed, one bedroom, bathroom, shower is nice and big. like a lot of people have said, pool area can get very busy, if you get to the pool by 9am, ur most likely get a seat, can get busy after that. Food is of good standard, All inclusive can get a lil weary after 5 days, needs to be more varity, but if you eat like a pig like me, ull enjoy the meats and fish. Drinks are good, bar is open all day. No waiters walking around the pool, which was a negative to me, but i guess exercise doesnt do any harm. Entertainment needs to be better, pool area needs to have a better interaction wit the public. Night enterainment is a bit dry, one guy singing songs and a few kids events. But sometimes nice to just chill out with a drink. Beach service is brilliant, they got a bus every 30 mins to take u to a nearby beach, which is 5 mins away. Town is a 10-15 mins walk away, or a quick taxi trip. Prices wasnt so cheap eating out, but nice to change up the food. Very good supermarket down there, nice to get some room snacks and drinks for the room there.

Overall, the whole family loved. kids loved the pool area, i enjoyed gettin sunburnt. Could easily come back here, and go on a few trips to waterpark and waterzoo next time.

Me and my little boy just got back from our stay at the Alvor Baia hotel (03/10/13) and loved every minute of it. It was a last minute booking, which was a bit risky. But I am so glad I opted for this hotel. The hotel is huge and very modern. (Roughly an hour transfer from the airport) The apartments are very large and clean with good amenities (fridge, hob, microwave, flat screen tv etc) which were cleaned and had towels changed every day. The staff were really friendly and extremely helpful throughout our whole stay. The restaurant and snack bar provided a wide range of hot and cold food and drink, which were always of good standard and had it's own children's food station. My Son used the kids club a couple of times which he really enjoyed and as it's situated in a small building near the swimming pool, and used the large pirate ship play area also right by the pool, so I had peace of mind sunbathing nearby while he was there. The swimming pool is absolutely huge, with shallow ends for kids plus a smaller children's pool separate. Unfortunately with going so late in the season, both were ridiculously cold, so much so that even my Son refused to go in them other than to paddle his feet in them. (Which is unlike him as the cold doesn't normally bother him at all) There is a number of day trips to go on which are easily arranged or simply use the hotel bus service that runs roughly every half hour, which takes you to a lovely sandy beach only a few minutes away. The hotel runs a Spa but I found it a little expensive and was told that children under 12 were not allowed in the indoor pool (which is part of the spa) so although this is good for adults wanting some quiet child-free time, I was disappointed that there was no indoor pool that my Son was able to use. There is a games room downstairs but everything in it costs one euro per game or 5 euros to borrow bat and ball for table tennis. There is free wifi access in the reception/lobby/bar area and even some areas round the swimming pool but not in the apartments. (Although I believe there is an option for internet via cable in the rooms if you take a laptop with you...not sure if there is extra charge for this, but I am guessing so as there was a charge for access to the safe in the rooms) and one computer with internet access in the lobby which is free for upto 30 mins. There is a small shop on sight that sells some snacks, sun glasses and gifts etc and a small supermarket down the road, although it's a little bit hidden behind other smaller hotels. I was told there was daytime and evening entertainment but other than one short aqua aerobics session one day and a couple of mini kids discos (that are really aimed at very young children) there was little in way of entertainment. I am certain this was just down to booking so late in Oct, and believe there is probably more offered earlier on in the year. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely recommend this hotel. I am very tempted to return again next year, only will be doing so much earlier in the year, so that it's a little warmer (was still around 22 degrees end of oct, but a little cloudy a few days and breezy most afternoons/evenings) and for more entertainment choice.

Just returned from a one week stay at the Alvor Baia Hotel and it was fantastic. The hotel is modern with rooms that are like mini suites and the whole hotel is spotlessly clean.
There is always a wide variety of food at mealtimes cooked to an excellent standard and something for every taste.
What stands out above anything else is the friendliness and helpfulness of staff, they were great, and on my birthday I returned to my room to find a bottle of champagne with glasses, cake with candles and a sparkler on top beautifully arranged on a plate with grapes and kiwi fruit cut into flowers. What a wonderful gesture !
The hotel is about a 10-15 min walk into Alvor village and I would recommend it to anyone.
I will definitely return.

This hotel was amazing from the outset. The staff really good and the hotel clean and professional at all times. The rooms were great and really clean and all facilities worked and were useful. The pool was huge and the were plenty on sun beds although the freezing temperatures of the water were sometimes off putting. The excursions the hotel provided were great and the location was good with a free bus down to the beach which was beautiful. The hotel was huge and the food great with a good variety but it sometime became slightly repetitive. Overall my experience there was excellent and hope to go against and would recommend the place highly.

Room Tip: Higher floor have great views of the mountains and/or sea.

We recently stayed at the Alvor Baia, an ultra modern hotel, a half hour walk away from the lovely fishing village of Alvor. We purposely go on holiday outside of the peak season so that we can enjoy a quieter and relaxing holiday, therefore plenty of sun lounges, fantastically large pool area and large seating areas. On our arrival the staff were welcoming and friendly and this continued throughout our stay. An ultra modern hotel, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The rooms are like mini suites, a bedroom area and separate living area, with a huge balcony. The food was excellent with such a wide choice, all well cooked and tasty. There is a free bus from the hotel at regular intervals throughout the day to the beach, it would have been wonderful if this same bus could drop people off in the village. However, it was a half hour stroll down to the lovely fishing village of Alvor, with lots to explore. A taxi back from the village was less that 4 Euros. All in all, we enjoyed a wonderful break in this very modern hotel, we thank all the staff for a super holiday. I would certainly recommend this hotel for families, friends and couples alike.

We stayed at the Alvor Baia from 22nd Sept to 6th Oct. Having read previous reviews and some criticisms I have to disagree with them all. This was my husband and I's first all inclusive (apart from a 5 star cruise last year). We loved this very modern hotel. From the minute of arrival we were greeted with huge smiles from Carlos and Vanda in Reception our luggage was taken to our room and we couldn't believe that it was pristine, so clean I couldn't find a fault. A huge room well 2 rooms really and a beautiful bathroom. We had asked for the top floor for the views and were not disappointed room 456 is perfect. Sea to the left mountains to the right the private hospital is opposite but a very modern building not recognisable as a hospital and you get the sun in the afternoon and it's quiet - perfect. Enormous balcony. Our room was cleaned daily and so well sheets changed regularly and towels too. Special people to mention the gorgeous Jorge, Sergio and Gina behind the bar (the queue system is quick and not a problem) they were friendly, cheerful and happy all of the time and in the restaurant the smile and warm greeting by Manuela and Filomena as we were welcomed every day such lovely people and the food was excellent too yes it's a bit canteen like but a large variety of food and whilst a bit noisy sometimes it was very acceptable to us. If you want to feel spoilt the Alvor Baia is for you even though unusually we had 5 cloudy dull days we still had a lovely relaxed time. I can imagine there might be a problem for sunbeds in the height of the season we had no problem and I truly believe they couldn't get any more in if they tried and not a lot for youngsters. If I am honest the only down side was the entertainment which although the three dancers were very talented the shows were under rehearsed and it showed and we thought the guy singing in the main foyer did a great job. The pool is the biggest we've seen and beautiful. The bus to the beach was great too such a lovely beach too and we enjoyed the stroll down to the town. My husband recommends the Guinness in The Black Stove great entertainer in there too. Taxi ride back only 4 euros or less. The location was better than we expected nothing is far away. Hotel Alvor Baia we loved it and want to thank everyone in the hotel for our most enjoyable holiday. Maxine & Joe Lawless

Just got home from 2 weeks at the alvor baia and had the most wonderful time. Although it is coming to the end of the season and starting to pack up the hotel staff were fabulous. The all inclusive food and drink was great. Always something really tasty to eat and more than enough choice. Much better than the average all inclusive deals. Hotel is very modern and minimalist which can make the dining halls a bit noisey. We were expecting the entertainment team to do more but then we were happy to mingle with others and keep ourselves entertained. The pool is incredible and plenty of sunbeds for lovely long days by the pool. Location for a gentle stroll into Alvor town takes you to a great range of bars and restaurants which are all reasonably priced and have great atmospheres. The only reason I cant give a 5 star rating is due to the entertainment team or should I say lack of one otherwise recommend this hotel :)

We are quite pleased with your review and all positive inputs you give, mainly to our services and staff and hotel structure.
However we have to excuse ourselves with the animation processes. This is now the end of the season and indeed the animation is a ending process. Also because we are having each day fewer guests and due to the age levels it becomes each day harder to do proper animation with clients interaction.

We will be expecting your visit again in the next season,

Kind regards,
