Alvor boardwalk had a lovely choice of restraurants with roof tops so you could sit high up and enjoy the sunset. eating out was reasonable priced as well.

quiet fishing village. Lots of good places to eat and drink. Not suitable for teenagers or the infirm

Algorithm boardwalk is a good walk in its own right, but also works well when walking on the beach. The beach can be up to 3K from the eastern end to the west, so the boardwalk can also be used as an easier return route.

It's also very accessible for wheelchair users.

I loved the board walk because it made walking easy. There are lots of directions to take. You are raised up from the sand .

We've been going to the Algarve for over 12 years & I have to say this is one of the best things that has ever happened in Alvor ! Over a period of 6 weeks we walked this boardwalk either every morning or evening (other then the odd day here or there !).
We varied our walks & some days went all the way from Restinga out to the end where the lighthouse is & back along the beach. Other days we went out to the lighthouse & back along the boardwalk /trails ( did a loop). Both are about 5 kms & took about 40 -45 mins. Hard going back along the beach but stop off at Restinga's for an orange juice & you'll be fine !!
It's a beautiful walk & you can cut off to the beach, across the dunes at numerous points. In the morning with the tide out you can see local men digging for clams(?). Other mornings the sea is like a mirror . The council keep the boardwalk & beach in pristine condition & are out cleaning early in the morning. For those interested in birdwatching & nature it has been highly recommended. For me it was "me time" ... solitude & peace & quiet (with other walkers/cyclists out obviously). At that hour of the morning/evening the beach itself was practically deserted & only at 9.00 were people starting to make their way down.
It's just as beautiful in the evening time with the sun setting. You can also see the kite surfers at the mouth of the estuary & marvel at their skill.
The views are gorgeous looking over at Lagos & obviously Alvor too.
I can't say enough about it. Sounds odd to say but it made my holiday ! Love it. Every place should have an amenity like it...
