Had concerns just before going on this holiday because of some negative reviews.

Staff are not rude, all are very helpful, friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Overheard many other holidaymakers complaining about some small issues regarding their rooms, such as no hairdryer, no toaster. This was no 4 or 5 star accommodation so when people want all the gadgets included they should book into a higher standard of accommodation in future!
The rooms were typical for a 3 star apartment, clean, spacious, all kitchen accessories included and to my surprise a full sized cooker, not that this was used much as we ate out every night. The only reason I have rated this as 4 is because the rooms were cleaned every 2nd day and clean towels were needed more frequently.

We stayed across from reception and pool entrance and did not experience any issues with bar noise. The pool area was clean with plenty of sunbeds for everybody. (The pool over the bridge seemed quieter when I popped over for a look.) Both pools had a baby pool. We stayed at the pool at reception because we have 2 teenagers and it was more suited to them as this was where the waterpolo and more 'grown up' activities took part.
Claude did a wonderful job getting the full family involved in football, volleyball, table tennis, archery, french boules and waterpolo. Other activites such as yoga, jogging, chess, tennis were also available.

As for Alvor itself, what a beautiful little fishing village with little narrow streets, a wide choice of brilliant restuarants and a variety of local shops. The restuarants we visited were all recommended by tripadvsior and were placed in the top 20 and not one of them disappointed us.

A visit to the beach is a must as it is not overcrowded and you can easily source your 'space' anywhere on the long stretches of golden sand. The beach is a 15 minute walk from apratments while most shops and restuarants can be reached within 10 minutes.
Ideal family holiday or for those looking for a quieter more relaxing holiday.

I see other reviewers have recommended the rooms 'across the bridge', they fail to mention there are three flights of stairs to go up to the bridge from reception. The rooms do look newer though.
There is a pool, mostly used by younger children, but there is no exit from that side of the complex, You have to return over the bridge for most of the site facilities and to get off the site. On the main site area there are again lots of steps and no one to assist you with your luggage. The ground floor rooms have over grown vegetation in front of the windows making them dark.
Around the main pool, sunbeds tend to get 'reserved' very early, and some are not used all day. Yellow mattresses for the beds are charge for by the hotel at the rate of 1 Euro for the day.
Staff on the complex were on the whole friendly and helpful.
Prices were a bit steep. Full English Breakfast was 8 Euro. A pint was 3 Euro.
A 15 Euro deposit, refundable, is required for the remote control for the TV and for the Air Con.
The safe is 1.5 Euro a day and 15 Euro deposit for the key. A toast is charged for at .5 Euro a day. The kettle is used on an LPG cooker top.
The room are spacious and cleaned most days. On the whole the site was clean.
900m to the beach is a joke though. Half an hours walk down hill there and up hill on the return or 4 Euro by taxi, yes we used a taxi one day, it had been a hard days sun bathing.
I would not use this hotel again mainly because of it's location and the number of steps.

Room Tip: Book a different hotel.

I travelled with my husband and 2 teenage sons We arrived at this hotel at 12 pm to be met with a very pleasant gentleman with excellent English . He took time to explain what facilities the hotel offered and how far we were from beach , main town etc: Our 2 bed apartment was clean and spacious . Cleaners came every other day . We were situated opposite the spar shop which I would recommend as there was no noise at night time . We only ate once at hotel there was a great choice and it was reasonably priced . The staff were very friendly . I would certainly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: We had room at back of hotel opposite the spar shop . It was a quiet area

Recently returned from an excellent stay here. No problems with large, clean accommodation, a lovely pool with plenty of sunbeds. Staff always friendly and helpful. Good location and reasonably quiet at night. Would be happy to return here again in the future.

Arrived to find that our apartment was not over the bridge as we had requested. We did not complain but obviously showed our disappointment and asked if there was any chance of moving over the road. Olga at reception was brilliant in trying to accommodate our wishes. We had 2 nights on reception side which is ideal if you want to use the club and children's facilities (we are past that stage now) and we were then moved to a great apartment which ticked all our boxes! The apartments are much bigger than average, yes a bit dated but fully equipped and kept clean. The air con would be better if in bedroom but we left door open from bedroom to living room and that helped.
We love walking so don't mind the 20 min stroll to beach or walk into town. Alvor itself is a lovely town, so many places to eat and to suit all budgets! Our favourites were Tasca Morais, Chef Jois, Argentinian steak house in town and Candeira and O Luis at Tres Irmos beach.
Make sure you explore all the beach, the pretty coves and rock formations at one end right up to the breakwater where you feel you have the beach to yourself! The boardwalk is a must too!
Just love this place as much as I first did 3 years ago!

Room Tip: Rooms are quiter non reception side but if you have family and enjoy use of club stay on reception s...

our family have just returned from a 10 day holiday and was anxious as there had been a few conflicting reviews on these apartments. the staff at reception were friendly and helpful. my daughter, her husband and two children were given an apartment over the bridge which is a must for the children, with a fab pool. but our request for over the bridge was not available, so we had a one room apartment at reception side. although the apartment was big, it wasnt until that night that my husband and i coudnt sleep because of the boom boom below us from the late bar. we went to reception and told olga (very nice lady at reception),and fair play to her had us moved over the bridge, as a client didnt arrive. we were in room 1132, with views of the sea in the distance. the apartments are big and have everything in the kitchen, pots, pans, etc, only gripe, no hair dryer and i didnt bring mine, so had to have wild hair (different look).its an old apartment and i had to climb 48 steps four times a day, (no joke when youre one yer off 60).the spot restaurant is a family concern and have only been in operation since march, but the staff are lovely and friendly, the food, although may take awhile to arrive to the table, cannot be faulted , with both quality and quantity are exceptional. they also run the spot bar, under the restaurant, every night having ,singers, chart music and a free pool table for the kids. my grandson had a ball and was taught how to play by a thoughtful, kind and charming guy with tatoos (sorry i forget jis name). anyway it made my grandson a very happy bunny. the town of alvor is down hill and only a ten minute walk, with great restaurants to choose from. the beach is a bit further, about twenty or so minutes. a fab place to spent the day. only bad thing to say would be for the cleaners to dust a bit more on top and in units. if booking dont forget for the kids and for a more quieter holiday, book over the bridge, away from reception.

Room Tip: if unable to walk up many steps make sure you request either ground or first floor apartment.

We, a family of 5 adults and 3 children aged 6, 8 and 10, are just back from Clube Alvorferias a big complex 5 or 10 minutes walk from the lovely Alvor. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with a small balcony overlooking the pool. It was very spacious and clean with a hob, oven and microwave in the kitchen, so you should be able to cook proper meals there, although we didn't bother. The room was cleaned every second day. There was air conditioning but we didn't need it. It looked a little dated but everything was in good condition with lovely tiles and an orange dial-type phone that was very 70s.

I thought the bridge across the pool spoiled the look of it, although all the children had a great time jumping off it. It has a sign forbidding jumping but an obvious jumping-off ledge (maybe a change in their policy since the place was built?). Also it was fenced off with a hedge and gate and I would think it would have nicer more open. But it was a nice deep pool, I think about 3 metres at the deep end and the baby pool was safely fenced off. There is no lifeguard. There was a bar poolside and another bar over the hedge beside the pool so to speak (The Spot) where we had some lovely lunches and a glass of wine is only 1 euro.

There are lots of activities and my husband and sons particularly enjoyed Claude's volleyball, football etc. We played a bit of tennis too. The children went to the kid's club once and didn't go back, they really preferred to stay by the pool all day. I'm not so sure about the children's evening activities--we went to the mini-disco but although there was music playing there was no-one getting the crowd going and we left the parrot show early because it seemed to be just photos--maybe it got better but we didn't wait to find out.

There is a selection of books in the laundry room (5 euro for a load of washing plus detergent tablets). This is great if you are cabin-baggage only as we were.

Reception staff were a bit slow and not overly warm (maybe just a language barrier), but fine.

All in all I think was a good family complex for a good price, maybe a bit lacking in character because of the size but with good facilities. I would go back there.

Room Tip: We were told that the rooms 'across the bridge' were quiet: we asked for and got one and it...
