“Excellent for Relaxing Families”
Reviewed 4 January 2012

Stayed in Prainha Village for 2 weeks at beginning of July 2011. Family of 4 - kids were 5 1/2 and 2.

Overall, excellent and very highly recommend. Staff very friendly, apartment (self catering) spacious, basic but that was our expectation and everything worked, atmosphere relaxed and the place was not packed which was great.

Loved the choice of 2 pools (plenty of sun beds, not that busy) and quiet almost private beach. Restaurants on site very good (pizzeria, bar/restaurant on beach with excellent fresh seafood in evening and a swanky restaurant as well).

2 km to town which had plenty of bars/restaurants - easy taxi ride or pleasant walk.

For the kids, great water park about 1 hr away. Did a day trip through Thompson which is definitely worth it.

Transfers about 1 hr 15min.

Definitely will go back.

Stayed for four nights from the 27th September and what a lovely break we had! Check in was pleasant and quick and we were soon in our apartment which was spacious, clean and very modern..like Ikea! All the apartments face the pool and gardens which are beautifully kept.
The hotel has a very modern finger printing system which allows you to pass through the gates in the gardens and down to the stunning cliff top pool and restaraunt on the sea front..very impressive! In all there are five restaraunts on site so no need to go far if you dont want to,but Alvor vilage is about a twenty minute walk away and has a real traditional rustic feel about it.If you are self catering the apartments are fully equipped with fridge/freezer,2 ring hob, microwave, kettle, toaster etc. There is a flat screen tv and air conditioning unit in the living area and bedroom.Prices were similar to home prices we thought and to be fair we only had snacks and beers on site averaging 25euros for 2 sandwiches with fries and a jug of sangria. All in all couldnt fault the resort, very beautiful, very clean, nice service and lots of choice in one place : )

Room Tip: All rooms face the pool although an upper floor should give you a sea view too.

stayed for 7 days in a 1 bed apartment on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool and it had a seaview.Daily maid service and the bed linen was changed twice. The air conditioning was extremely useful as the weather was very hot. Eveywhere was very clean and the gardens and grassed areas were very well maintained. I would certainly stay here again.

1 Bed apartment - good security, clean and nicely decorated, fresh linen.
Staff -polite, efficient.
Food - Good choice of delicious food, especially the beach restaurant and off reception area. Buffet breakfast costs 8E per person, which I consider steep.
Amenities - private beach which is accessed by lift, choice of two swimming pools (one has spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean).
It is a little taste of heaven.
Taxis to Alvor village cost appox 5e

stayed for 1 week in prainha village.rented 4 bed villa.it had everything you would need.lovely sun terrace and patio area.3 bedrooms ensuite.other bedroom had bathroom beside it.3 pools pool at hotel rec+atlantic pool which overlooks the sea.plenty of grass areas to sunbathe if you dont want to pay the 7euro for 2 sunbeds +umbrella which is very cheap compared to beach which is quite dear.only downsides about complex is its about 20 minute walk to alvor centre which we didnt mind but may not suit some people.alvor which most people know who have been there is a nice quaint little village with plenty of nice places to eat [georgetts one of the best].one thing i have noticed is the amount of neon flashing lights and disco that seem to have cropped up in the last few years which i feel is beginning to make it feel like any other big resort .but i will still return again.

We're just back from a week staying in Prainha Clube. It was a last minute decision and we went with here because the photo's showed a modern, fresh and clean apartment. We only arrived late in the evening but the staff were quick to help us find our apartment. We were delighted with the apartment, very clean, plenty of towels, a well equipped kitchen and a nice balcony over looking the pool. Our beds were made everyday along with clean towels. There is a little shop on the grounds that has whatever you may need. It's more expensive than other shops but very convenient.

While we were there we used the complex pool and the Atlantic pool, both of which we found great. I read of other people complaining about paying for sun loungers but the Atlantic pool is surrounded by grass so you could easily set your towel down there to sunbathe. The views from the Atlantic pool are amazing and I would recommend a visit for that alone. We also went down to the beach a number of times, getting a work out from the steps! The beaches were lovely and plenty of places to stay in the shade if it got too hot.

There are three restaurants in Prainha, we only ate in two, Miss Pasta and Buzio. Miss Pasta the night we arrived as it was late and we were famished, very basic pizza and pasta dishes, nothing too fancy but simple and tasty. Buzio is a Michelin recommended restaurant and we had the most amazing meal here looking out over the coast as the sun was setting. It was roughly €80 for the two of us for a three course meal and a nice bottle of wine. I can't praise the food enough, it was one of the nicest meals I have ever had.

Apart from that we went down to Alvor a couple of nights, beautiful little town with a lovely harbour and little streets with shops, restaurants and bars. It's about €4 in a taxi or a 20-30 minute walk. I would recommend a trip down there even just to walk along the harbour and up a couple of streets.

The maintenance of the area is getting worse and worse. If you go to the supermarket inside the prainha area or to the Restaurant Miss Pasta, you better not look to the very dirty floor bricks that look very old and received thousands of drops of white paint from the wall.
