“Fit for Kings also.”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

We were touring in the Algarve for a few days and picked this manor house as a base to explore the area - and it was ideal. From the street the place looked anonymous but behind the big wooden door was a different world, like going back in time to an earlier place, rustic themed, beamed ceilings, a great sense of Portugal. Behind the dining area is the courtyard with beautiful flowers and plants and outdoor stairs leading to some of the bedrooms. At one end was a large swimming pool and BBQ with table and chairs which could cater for 8 people and which we availed of. What was not mentioned in the description of the hotel was a separate wash room with 2 driers which was a boon to us travellers.Breakfast was excellent with a good variety of fruits and breads. The manager Carlos was so helpful in telling us about the area, where to go and great suggestions for dinners in the evening. Whilst there was TV in each room it never occurred to us to switch on as it seemed as if one was in another suspended place. There was a note that an Archduke stayed there, but this place is fit for Kings and for commoners like ourselves, pure heaven. This is more an experience than a place to stay and we will definitely be back for more

Room Tip: The courtyard where we stayed was delightful, to step out your door into dazzling sunlight and bird...

What a lovely find. Reviews true to word. The Algarve was a lovely experience for a restful holiday, fully chilled now, it's taken 2 was to write this! Delightful B& B, with lovely courtyard setting, just the place to come back to for a refreshing swim. As soon as you step through the door the tranquility is all around. John & Carlos were very welcoming & Carlos dealt with all our requests with a smile! He was very knowledgeable about the best places to visit, from the beautiful beaches to mountain villages to sardine restaurants, which made our stay very varied & enjoyable. Run with a quiet efficiency, breakfast was delightful, nothing was too much trouble.
Thank you all very much.

Room Tip: We had a lovely room with a roof terrace overlooking the courtyard. Thoroughly recommend .

We had a very enjoyable four night stay in October. Our room was delightful as was the pool area with its little tables and beautiful flowers. Breakfast was delicious and staff were friendly and helpful. We are especially grateful to John who was very kind and accommodating.
We also enjoyed the quirky local eating experiences.

John and Carlos were great hosts, happy to help with touring and restaurant suggestions. The unique garden/pool area was a beautiful surprise. Our room overlooked the area and was clean and quiet. Breakfasts were a treat including comfortable conversations with other guests. Nearby towns and beaches were amazing. We especially enjoyed the restaurant within walking distance that had Fado on Sunday evenings. It was a great stay.

Very easy to find from Faro airport.
John and Carlos are very welcoming and informative with ideas on what to do in the area. The week we stayed the weather wasnt great, so we got great recommendations from John as to what we could do and where we could go.
Acccomodation was lovely, nice spacious room and the garden area is really lovely and peaceful. We didnt avail of the honesty bar to towards the end of our stay and is an excellent idea. We could relax in the living room with Sky and could catch up with the hurling all ireland final! John’s recommendations for food were excellent, the local restaurant O'Caverio is great value and not to be missed, we went for fresh fish grilled and was only 20Euro for both of us and included 1/2 carafe of wine! We also loved the fact we were very close to Ferragadu, a lovely quaint fishing village which had some really lovely restaurants. We loved Restaurant Ferragood, just fab atmosphere and local cuisine was delicious, secondly would recommend Fim Do Mundo, the best prawn starter and great steaks!

We definitley would recommend a car as you can discover the area, visit beautiful beaches and travel up into the mountains.

All in all a great location, lovely accomodation, excellent value and great hosts!

Arrived very late on the Tuesday night. Finding the B & B was relatively easy from Faro airport, took around 45 minutes, probably less if it was light. Ample parking available around the B & B. We were greeted by John warmly and shown to our rooms promptly.
The following morning we got up for Breakfast, breakfast was 9-10. It’s a continental breakfast with so much choice, meats, cheeses, bread, cereal, fruit, fresh bread, fresh juice, coffee and more. The weather was lovely the first morning and Carlos moved us outside in the garden.
The garden and its grounds are fantastic, alive with colour and charm. The pool area is quite with plenty of sunbeds which have cushions.
John and Carlos explained to us about the honesty bar which is a fantastic idea and worked very well. There’s a living room with Sky so us Brits can catch up with all the football and sport. John’s knowledge of the surrounding area is second to none and it was never a problem asking him which way to go and where. On 1 night John took us to a restaurant in Estombar.
The room we had was fine but after seeing what my Father and Mother in law we felt slightly disappointed in our room as it was near the roadside and had no air con. The bathroom felt slightly dated too. The room upstairs had air con, a terrace and a modern bathroom. We did ask to move but it was fully booked.
All in all it was a fantastic stay and we were made to feel very welcome. I would strongly recommend the rental of a car to get around as the surrounding areas are beautiful in particular the beaches.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room away from the road.

Peaceful and pretty hotel.
Gorgeous rooms- spacious, comfortable beds-soft towels
/courtyards filled with colourful flowers and the sound of water

Good breakfasts- especially in the courtyard
Some cheap snack bars nearby but a car is essential to enjoy the surrounding area

Small but very clean pool, comfortable sun loungers and a real sense of tranquility

Room Tip: You will need a car- fabulous beaches nearby
