“Holiday 2013”
Reviewed 10 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

The minute you stand on the top balcony and look down the valley to North Africa and smell the hot scent of pine trees wafting up the valley you know you have a rrived in Gaucin.

This is a typical Spanish property in a calssic Spanish White village clinging to the side of the mountain. Winding streets with a bar or shop on each one give you pelnty of opportunitie top sit and watch the world go by with a cold beer and some local speciaties to soak it up.

If you go at the right time the village will be on fiesta which means losts to see and do and a perfect excuse to stay up and sit with the locals. They always say hello and the Spanish love kids.

Paco Pepes (local haunt and classic Spanish food!!!), El Lateral, Bar Zorro, La Fuente and La Hacho (apologies for any spelling mistakes) are all good places to eat. The first being sat in a neat little square with a fountain gurgling away.

We've stayed at Sarah's places several times and they right in town no more than and minute away from all the above. They are well equipped and have stunning views as they have no one in front of them. They get all the sun and are private.

Half hour from the nearest beach and an hour or so from Terifa with the kite surfing and wind surfing. Or go to the local municpal piscine and have a beer after at La Hacho

If I won the lottery tonight I'd go tomorrow.

True Spain all the way.

“Relaxing and fun location”

This apartment has a special place in my heart, I have visited twice and looking forward to a third visit this year. Fantastic accommodation with a comfortable homely feel, love to sit on the balcony and take in the sites and sounds or rural Spain with views over to Morocco. All kitchens equipped with everything you need, but the village has truly amazing restaurants that you can enjoy a mixture of self catering and dinning out. The owners are always helpful and accommodating with anything you need. Great location for day trips to the coast so can get the best of both worlds.

“Quintessential White Village Retreat With Amazing Views”
Reviewed 8 June 2013 for a stay in October 2011

These apartments in the village of Gaucin are a perfect location. You can experience the quieter and more traditional village life whilst only a short drive takes you to the coast and some fantastic historical towns and cities. The apartments are comfortable and sympathetically decorated to embrace the Moorish styles but include modern luxuries. All of the apartments have outstanding views both of the village and fort and all the way down to the coast and beyond with balconies and terraces to enjoy al fresco dining.
We love this place so much we have been three times and stayed in three different parts of Sarah's houses (depending on the size of our party). Every time has been great. The convenience of shops and restaurants just a few minutes walk from the house means you can truly relax and abandon the car with lovely walks directly from the village and spend the afternoon in the friendly tapas bar! You are also a short drive from some fast motorways which means exploring further afield is also convenient. Ronda, Algeciras, Antequera and Malaga are all easy day trips.

“A perfect holiday - as peaceful or as lively as you would like.”
Reviewed 7 June 2013 for a stay in July 2011

We stayed here with our two children, then 4 and 2, most recently in July 2011, but have stayed on previous occasions as far back as 2000, and would happily go back.

The apartment is at the bottom of the village with views down to the coast on a clear day (which is pretty much every day), and up to the castle behind the village from the large roof-top terrace. The second terrace leading off from the living area is perfect for breakfast with the ghekos, while the roof top is a great place for star-gazing.

The kitchen has everything you need - hob, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and storage. The bathroom is clean (shower is nicer than my one at home!), the beds are comfortable and there's plenty of storage for clothes and empty suitcases.

The village has a great selection of restaurants (La Fuente and La Fructuosa are both wonderful, great food, service and atmosphere) and Paco Pepe's bar by the fountain is one of my favourite spots in the world. There are windy steps and steep streets to explore, and a public pool surrounded by lawns, including a baby pool with showers.

The nearest shop is really well stocked, and there's an organic/health food shop at the top of the village by the pool and petrol station. We found the owner really helpful, and all the welcome pack information was up-to-date. Although we know the place so well now, restaurants change hands and new shops open, so it's always worth a check to see what's changed.

A lovely village and great accommodation. Will plan another trip soon.

“Absouletly gorgeous apartments in stunning location”
Reviewed 7 June 2013 for a stay in July 2012

Lovely visit to the village of Gaucin. The apartments were perfect for the stay with a group of friends. All the mod cons but still keeping that rustic feeling throughout the place. The location of the apartments allows for stunning views across the village and towards Morocco..truly breath-taking.
Good, quick and efficient communication with the owners.. have rebooked for this summer.

“A Fantastic Week in September”
Reviewed 10 October 2011 for a stay in September 2011

Las Almendras is a great two bedroomed apartment which provides 2 sun terraces where the views are stunning, it's not unusual to watch eagles circularing overhead. Gaucin is a beautifull little village with a good selection of supermarkets, tapas bars and excellent restaurants, which are all within easy walking distance. Will definately return.
