“A Fantastic Place for a Holiday!”
Reviewed 9 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The house in Gaucin was the most perfect retreat. Located in this unique village, the home offered all the amenities required for the ideal break with fantastic views from the patio across the mountains down towards Gibraltar and, on a clear day, the north African coastline. The village itself is a remarkable place with lots of culture, friendly people and a variety of excellent eating places. We can thoroughly recommend this holiday home!

“We felt like home, only better weather”
Reviewed 8 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Casa Muneca is a fully equipped, spacy and calm house, in walking distance to a supermarket and bars. It has a balcony with a lot of sun; however, there was no sun in the morning when we had breakfast.. But that was actually the only thing we could complain about. Great place to stay!

“Convenient house with stunning view”
Reviewed 4 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

A small but convenient house suitable for a couple. Nice terrace with a beautiful view where you can see Gibraltar as well as Atlas mountains in Africa on a bright day. Gaucin is a charming small white town with beautiful surroundings suitable for walks. The narrow streets is a challenge for newcomers in particular if you come by car.

“Wonderful homely casa in a lovely village with awesome views”
Reviewed 31 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

A wonderful casa that feels like home from home and the open fire on a winter evening makes the stay so special. We were lucky to have a few days of sunshine most days during our 13 night stay and the terrace is just wonderful for sunbathing and relaxing with spectacular views over the green green land with river and hills to the coast and beyond to the rock and africa. The location is inland and we had a car so made our holiday an adventure and as most restaurants in the village are closed in january, allowed us to travel to the coast to dequesa and sabinillas some evenings to eat out. Such an experience having large groups of vultures flying overhead and we were lucky enough to see eagles too. A bumpy, windy road from the coast but worth the drive for the scenery ...every bend has a new view and the villages in the hills look different from every angle. The local villagers all seem friendly and the local supermarket was suprisingly well stocked making eating in an option. The only improvement i can think of would be an oven as i personally dont use microwaves but the kitchen had everything else you would need. From time of booking to when we got back Philip the owner was always informative, thorough and friendly throughout. Agusta the lady who looks after the casa in Gaucin is a character too and recommends the translation app on google so we found out how to use it for the first time. Much fun was had and a beautiful casa in a wonderful part of andalucia. Hope to return again in the future!

“Wonderful house, stunning views”
Reviewed 12 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We had a fantastic time in this beautiful, stylish, clean, warm and welcoming house. Sitting on the sunny terrace in what was a surprisingly warm December, we enjoyed amazing views across the mountains and river valley towards Gibraltar and beyond to Africa. Casa Muneca is located on a winding quite lane in a typical Spanish village with friendly locals. The village has a reasonably well stocked supermarket, many fantastic bars and restaurants all within walking distance through a labyrinth of alleyways, lanes and roads. The surrounding area is beautiful and great fun to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this little house and would definitely visit again.

Reviewed 31 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Good place to enjoy a few days in the hills. The apartment is clean and well equipped and Agostina was friendly and helpful. The terrace has excellent views and is a super place to chill out.Unfortunately there was very heavy rain and huge thunderstorms when we were there but the apartment stood up to it all very well.

“FABULOS an absolutely fabulous delightful little house - we loved it and are back in the spring”

Staying in Casa Muneca was like being in a beautiful real life dream that you don’t want to wake-up from.
From the moment you walk through the door you are stuck by how everything fits so well together; the rooms are beautifully furnished and comfortable to live in. Walk out onto the terrace and look down the valley to the Mediterranean and North Africa beyond and smell the scent of pine trees wafting up from the valley below you and you know that you are somewhere that is very special.
This truly delightful house is on a narrow winding lane that, like many houses in Gaucin, clings to the side of the mountain. Conveniently close to the centre of the village, but at the same time quite, the house provided us with everything we wanted for a self-catering holiday and then some. Although parking near the casa was without problem after 2 days we had abandoned our plans to tour round this part of Spain and instead spent a lot of our time just chilling out on the terrace and discovering the real meaning of life. Breakfast on the terrace every morning, a wander through the twisting streets saying ‘Hola’ to complete strangers and getting a friendly smile and a ‘Hola’ in return – yes this is definably not like a city. Find bars like Paco Pepes on a little square with a gurgling fountain less than 2 minutes’ away from the casa. Pajuelo bar, opposite the bank, with brilliant tapas and its so very village clientel. Without doubt La Fructuosa restaurant is the best in town for dinner, but El Lateral just opposite Paco Pepes is also good second, but for measurably less expensive and amazingly good value then La Parrilla del Pillar is worth searching out.
It’s now almost 3 weeks since we were at Casa Muneca and still the magical feel lives on.
