While the restaurants in Tolox are unlikely to win any major culinary awards, most of them serve simple Spanish food at very low prices. El Rincon de Rafael is a few levels above the rest of the local restaurants with first class tapas served in what is essentially a bar. While first impressions were not terribly favourable, our impression quickly changed after the first few dishes of bellota ham, anchovies, mussels and prawns. We ate here on three different occasions and each evening the bill was less than EUR 50 for a family of five including drinks. Service was also extremely friendly; although bring a dictionary if you don't speak Spanish as there is very little English spoken here. Also, follow the lead of all the locals who ordered potato salad at the bar - it is terrific.
