“Early Summer Break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2012

We have just returned from a 5 night break at the Sol Ibiza our 3rd visit at this time of year.
The hotel is clean but of a dated style but that being said we could not fault it and will no doubt return. Some people have previously complained of the thin walls but this did not trouble us and our room was next to the stairs and lift.It is an adults only hotel so you do not expect to hear a lot any noise from children.
The food is excellent with an extensive choice for breakfast and dinner with chef's always on hand to advise or cook items to your requirements.Reception and dining room staff were always friendly and helpful.
We booked this approx. 6 months ago and received an excellent price which was little more than 12 months ago and now with the favourable Euro/£ exchange rate it was a very enjoyable inexpensive break.
Not sure if we would go in high season as the hotel was not full yet all sunbeds by the pool and the quite grass area overlooking the sea were regularly taken early.I would imagine in the high season this could be a problem.

Just returned today after 14 days. I was really looking forward to this hotel as I had researched it in the past and visited when in the area. To spite its location and adult only tag I will not return.

Positives - Hotel is perfectly situated for couples due to its quiet location. Great indoor and outdoor pool, helpful entertainment staff - Angel! Reception area is airy and promises a four star experience. Free electronic safes in rooms, good choice of evening meals, quiet gardens or poolside sunbathing areas. Free sunbed towels @ 20 euro deposit and 1 euro exchange if you want to change them. Short safe flat walk to town and nearest supermarket is 5 minutes away opposite Tropic Gardens. Larger Eroski supermarket is further along road past Gruphotel

Negatives - Rooms are very noisy you can hear all conversations and toilet noises from all surrounding rooms, rooms are cramped with little space to move at the bottom of the bed. Televisions are old style with poor reception only 2 English channels (not a complaint because I do not watch TV on holiday). Do not get fobbed off with a forest view or sunny rear room - they overlook car park and the others overlook kitchen. Full sea view rooms are 15 euros per night. Two lifts serve whole of hotel - expect a wait if you can't manage stairs. Hotel currently full due to the transfer of Don Carlos guests dining room gets crowded and beware if you both leave the table at the same time to visit the buffet as you will return to find your table reset for other guests by enthusiastic waiting staff.

Lower ground floor toilets are smelly - they may be a drain problem as guests are asked not to flush paper in toilet.

Grounds are sloped with disabled access to all areas but beware of steep ramps and sudden drops. Handrails start half way down staircases and some are wobbly. Inside pool has long drop from the poolside to top access step. Public footpath runs along sea edge of hotel but due to land erosion walkers are forced to cut across the grounds. No reports of crime but be aware of leaving any valuables on sunbeds.

Visit Mariners bar on beach near Riomar for live music 8.30 pm start.

Room Tip: Ask for locate high pool view

I think people are just jumping on the bandwagon, following the herd! Just returned from a weeks holiday and to be honest was really impressed.
My wife and I booked this on impulse, having last visited Ibiza many years ago and now my wife lists this hotel as a must return.
Thin walls, well I did not notice, and if you give up a holiday as a previous reviewer has stated, why not just simply change hotels!
Location is very good, paid for a seaview and was excellent, sunbeds available all day which is a first although fellow guests where a little on the older side, over 60 and tended to go out during the day.
Food wad good, and the dining area had a restaurant feel, tables set well apart, house wine 7.90 euros, what a selection, quail, squid, steak, trout, many other fish dishes and all in all a very good experience.
Did not sample any entertainment, not my thing, but a very good hotel, very clean, good staff and a superb location.
Walked to es Cana and back one day!! A coastal path with brilliant views but 3 hours there and back, and found where the hippies resided in a tented village, chanting mantas as we passed.
Would I go back?, Yes, and I am going to have my hearing tested as other reviewers have experienced noise that I did not hear, unless the noisy one was me!!!!
Enjoy

Room Tip: Sea view and higher floor

Just back from the Sol Ibiza and we both feel extremely relaxed. Yes - there is some truth in comments regarding thin walls and range of food but there are also a number of more positive aspects. First of all, this is an adult only hotel so no noise from kids - also means of course, that there is a tendency towards the more mature in society being attracted to this hotel - not a bad thing of course. It is also situated at close to the start/end of a very attractive promenade and associated marina - just walk along this and note the abundance of yachts and take time out at one of the bars or restaurants overlooking the harbour. Rooms are a little bijou but these are for sleeping only - enjoy the space at the pool and go to the entertainment nights - some good some -well not so good. Transfers etc, spot on and access to other places of interest reasonably good.

Room Tip: We had a room on the minus 1 floor overlooking the pool - most acceptable.

Just back from Sol Ibiza on Wednesday 16/05/12 after having a truly relaxing 7days.We were allocated a room on the the 7th floor [711] and had a beautiful sea view.Lovely to hear the sea first thing in the morning.`The Hotel overall was spotless, nice decor in the rooms, free wall safe and no complaints about the food which was of a reasonable standard. We are inclined to vary our holiday routine, January this year [Lanzarote]was self catering, eating out somewhere different nitely ,so eating in the Hotel each nite made a pleasant change. The Hotels' location is excellent with nice leisurely stroll thru the woods down to the Marina etc.The Staff were very pleasant ,especially Steffi on Reception who booked us in & Marjorie in the Restaurant who always had a big smile for us!!.The entertainment was a bit hit and miss ,best for us was Celtic Nights ,excellent group of Irish Dancers and Salseria who mixed Salsa /Flamenco and up tempo Modern songs to great effect.Round the pool was fine for Sun loungers although I suspect in the busy season you would need to make an early "booking" if you know what I mean!.We did 2 trips, first on the Saturday to the Medieval Festival in Ibiza[Eivissa] Town which was a brilliant experience, although I thought was a bit overpriced on Thomas Cooks behalf. We also took the boat to Es Cana on the Monday which was interesting, the boat journey a bit too bumpy for my liking!.Santa Eularia itself is very pleasant, with a lovely Marina and as a resort clean and very well maintained. The weather was great climbing to around 30degs by the end of the week.
The only negatives as far as we were concerned was that the entertainment on a couple of nites wasn't of a great standard and on the Sunday you only had the choice of the Piano Bar.
There have been quite a few comments made about the "paper thin "walls,we must have been fortunate in that we weren't troubled that much by this problem.Certainly we heard a few "coughs and sneezes" from next door but nothing out of the ordinary.Because we were on the 7th floor we didn't have any one above us which was a bonus.Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Sol Ibiza and would consider a return visit.

Room Tip: Definitely request a Sea View.

After three nights of no sleep due to the noise from other rooms such as toilets flushing, people snoring, loud television etc we changed rooms but still unabe to sleep due to the thin walls. We paid good money only to feel stressed and unwell due to sleep deprivation. We flew home early at our expense and do not recommend this hotel. The staff were friendly and apologetic but stated its the thin walls and not nuch they could do.

Ideal hotel for peaceful holiday and even better for being child free. The hotel has plenty of sun beds and plenty of different areas to sit and relax both inside and out. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the food plentiful with lots of choice.
