Have just returned from a 11 nights holiday (12th/23rd July)...we took a huge chance and booked a standard room, but we asked Thomas Cook to "request" a high floor/sea view....and that is exactly what we got, full sea view,(how-ever I did ask to have a look at a "superior room" which was identical!) I did mention this to reception and the response was...."it's maybe a little bigger"...it wasn't!!, so just bare that in mind when booking, MOST...rooms have sea view...although some do face a wooded area....which actually is the front of the hotel...make sure you don't get one of these rooms!.... Rooms are slightly smaller than past 4 star hotels that we have stayed at....but adequate, I would say the rooms are ready for a refurbishment, but don't let that put you off,I would say in our opinion the rooms are more 3 star, I did take photo's of the bathroom but have decided not to show them,as we had such a lovely stay, I will "bin them"....I had issues with the cleanliness of our room...(wasn't dirty, but the cleaner was not cleaning properly on a daily base...I eventually spoke to reception about this, and they came and looked for themselves, the head house keeper was called along with our cleaner, all agreed the standard of cleaning was not acceptable, not for a 4 star, but it was dealt with.
The food was excellent....5 star.....it tasted like food!!..fantastic....the chefs are on hand the whole time, and nothing was too much trouble, especially a chef named "Jesus" he was adorable.....never stopped smiling,a real people pleaser, thank you Jesus.....and the waiters.....also fantastic.....especially Juan.....he was so lovely that he made everyone feel at ease and always had time to have a chat...lovely,lovely man, many, many years experience, thank you to Jesus,Juan,Angel, and the whole team, you really did help to make our holiday lovely.
The pool area is really nice.....but....yup!!! you must get up early and grab your sun bed....I mean early....this is such a shame,as the hotel actually requests that guests do not do this....but they do!!...if you don't go down BEFORE b/fast....with your towels....forget it.....AND its not just the Germans!!!....but I blame management.....its states that "towels may be removed by management".......but they are not....you will get a sun bed, but no umbrella.
The hotel is quite a walk to the beach/town/buses etc.....in our opinion the hotel needs a shuttle service.....remember it is 4 star, adults only, and the majority of guests are of the older generation.....Sol Ibiza, please consider this, maybe it could be a shared shuttle service with the other two hotels....The Catalinia Hotel and the Tropic Gardens,?
I have tried to be as informative as I can in an honest way,
We really loved our holiday at The Sol.
