Invisa Hotel La Cala
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 16 October 2013

This is a town hotel and as such is not adjacent to a beach but has the advantage that one step outside and you are immediately into the area of the many excellent bars, cafes restaurants and boutiques at the heart of up-market Santa Eulalia. Its just 2 minutes stroll to the lovely marina and a little further to the excellent beaches. The bus station for trips to other places of interest is about a 5 minutes walk away - fares are very cheap. Slightly more expensive - but well worth it - are the ferry services to the two adjacent resorts of Cala Llonga and Es Cana, Ibiza town and Formenterra.

From the moment you arrive to a complimentary glass and efficient check-in through to your departure you will be made most welcome by the smart and friendly staff in all areas that gives the entire place that exclusive feel-good factor. The modern bedrooms are well appointed with comfortable beds, efficient air-conditioning, fridge, safe (payable),and well equipped bathroom - all kept in pristine condition by the hard working domestic staff

The modern bar area, lounge and outside patio are inviting places to sit, relax, and enjoy a drink (or two?). Prices here are cheaper than in many of the other hotels around the resort. i can personally recommend the best (and generous) G and T in S/A made by head barman Juan. Food is very good at breakfast with a wide choice (would you believe black-pudding and its a long way from Bury!). The evening buffet meals are good with the cold buffet in particular offering a wide selection. Drinks served at the table are, again, very reasonable. After dinner entertainment is provided most evenings but is "low-key" in every sense of the word. There are no daytime activities - a fault or a blessing dependent on your viewpoint.

For 'sun-worshiping' guests there may be a problem. The plan view of the hotel is formed in a sort of 'U' shape and as such the sun only reaches one side of the swimming pool. This leads to a demand for sunbeds on the sunny side of the pool. While there was no shortage of sunbeds when I was there it does mean that they are fairly close together with space restricted. If this is a problem it may well be better to look elsewhere.

This seems to be the only slight downside in what is a great hotel that offers excellent value for you euros and provides good honest traditional values.

Room Tip: Choose a pool-view room if possible

Located one street away from the marina and the tiled promenade that goes around the bay. Our room was spacious with loads of hanging space and drawers and shelves. The beds were comfy if a bit small. TV Fridge and Kettle included in the price - pay extra for a safe. Had a long narrow balcony overlooking a side street with table and chairs and a washing line. Very quiet and the aircon worked! The food was very good and plentiful in the restaurant though some of the griddled food was a bit dry. There was something for everyone. The outside pool area was very good and there was also a sun deck. Waiting staff served drinks all day long. Snacks were available at a reasonable cost but you couldn't eat around the pool and deck areas. The staff were lovely and friendly. There is a spa but we never took advantage of it as the weather was good.

This hotel is an absolute jewel. It was a joy to return to the hotel, and to Santa Eulalia, again this year. Our holiday is always taken at the end of September when you might expect staff to be somewhat jaded as they near the end of the season. Not so! Throughout the hotel, without exception, the hotel staff were always ready with a smile and a friendly comment and couldn't do enough to help - from the warm welcome we received from Luis and his team on reception late on our night of arrival to our goodbyes on the last day of our stay.

Rooms are well above average for a holiday hotel. If you wish a very quiet room then opt for one overlooking the pool. Our personal preference is to have a street view - obviously noisier but infinitely more interesting! All rooms are protected from noise and heat by two sets of double glazed doors so there is no question of sleep being disturbed. 'Noise', incidentally only involves the day-to-day life of this classy, small resort. It does not involve late-night drunken revellery etc. From some of the street view rooms you can see the beautiful marina and the open sea at the bottom of the road.

The lovely, quiet pool area is not huge - this, after al,l is an hotel in the centre of a town. However, it is spotlessly clean and my late afternoon swim each day was so relaxing. More than often I had the pool to myself. I am not a sun bather so cannot comment on that aspect but the sun beds look lovely to me.

The restaurant is absolutely superb. A beautiful room with the added option of breakfasting or dining in the adjacent open-air couryard. The buffet has to be seen to be believed. Contstantly refreshed and offering a wide selection of hot and cold dishes - each more tempting than the last! This also includes a vast array of sweets. The staff in the restaurant are exceptional; superbly efficient whilst still maintaing their friendly manner.

I have read one or two reviews which make reference to the age-band of the clientelle suggesting that the hotel resembles an 'old peooples' home'. Do not be put off. In my opinion, this claim is very much exagerated. This is an adults only hotel in the centre of a small, quiet resort town. It, obviously, does not appeal to much younger people and is not available to those with families. I would say, in general terms the guests were 50+.

Invisa La Cala is situated in the centre of beautiful Santa Eulalia and within easy reach of the marina, the passenger boats to Ibiza Town etc and the bus station. Within easy walking distance are plenty shops and cafes (many offering entertainment in the evening) both in the town and along the beautiful seafront - where, incidentally, the sea bathing is wonderful! It really does 'tick all the boxes'!

This was our second visit to the hotel but it certainly will not be our last.

Room Tip: From the balcony of a room overlooking Calle de Huesca you can see the sea

On looking at this hotel ,not your normal 4 star no large gardens area but the heart of the hotel is excellant , from entry the staff were helpfull, and allways smilling and ready to help if needed, rooms are ok clean and lovely fluffy towels , fridge and kettle with tea and coffee ,bottles of water, the food for breakfast and dinner, was a good mix, bottle of wine only 10 euro ,pool not large but you could hire towels and the sunbeds were good quality, but the beach was 5 min away if you wanted to chill or take a boat to other places.but if you like walking this area is great ,walk to the river and go to the old roman bridge take a loaf of bread 56c and feed the the cats and birds.buses are plenty and if going yourself from airport the 10 takes you to ibiza bus station where you cant go wrong .would i go back oh yes what a lovely hotel.thanks to all the staff 10 out of 10

Room Tip: Top floor but all room had good double glacing

Before booking this hotel I checked Trip Advisor first and based on everything I read I decided to take my holiday there. So glad I did. We had a lovely time and can confirm that all the positive comments are justified because we neither could find much to fault. Location of hotel spot on.Situated in the town centre with only minutes walk to the marina/ shops or beach........Hotel spotless. Food excellent and staff very helpful and friendly.
If you are a pool sunbed lover though this is not the hotel for you because many areas of the pool were in the shade for much of the day .......If however you are the person who sits by the pool straight after breakfasting though you should be able to stay in the sunshine for most of the day if you were lucky enough to grab a lounger at the top end. Our room didnot have a pool view and was overlooking the street outside but no street sounds whatsoever could be heard.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are spacious with twice as much balcony

Must have walked past this hotel many times but never noticed it. The entrance is just a corner of the block and does not do it justice as once inside it opens up to a smart huge loby/bar area. Everywhere spotless staff friendly and helpful and all spanish which meant that any enquiries about where to go where answered with local knowledge. We had a bedroom overlooking the main through road but with a double glazed patio door infront of a double glazed french door the sound was not a problem. Food was excellent plenty of choice and varied. local as well as 'european' on offer and thank goodness somewhere that does not think we have chips with everything. If I was to have a criticism it was the outside space there was only a pool and an area round it for beds that were very close together. The pool area does not get much sun so the pool was quite cold and there was only a couple of beds that had sun all day. There was entertainment most nights but this is not our sort of thing. It is an easy walk to harbour and beach and you are in the main shopping/bar/resturant area. As the holiday progressed the rest of the guests coming in were older I guess that is typicall of the resort as October begins, so it would be great for over 60's at this time even if you were solo.

Room Tip: Overlooking the main road gave you sun late afternoon and plenty to watch

We stayed here at the back end of September. Our travel agent recommended it and we were not disappointed.

The hotel has a fairly central location in the town and you aren't far way from restaurants, bars and the beach. The staff in all departments were very polite pleasant and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them. The hotel was spotless as was the resort. What a pleasant change to visit somewhere litter free.

Breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice and fresh fruit. The fruit juice did appear diluted though. I thought the Cava was a nice touch. Dinners were fine, There was reasonable choice for a buffet. I recommend the house red.

Our room was spotless and there was plenty of hot water. The pillows were small and foam filled which made me sweat a lot at night.

The pool was clean and relatively warm. However the pool area was rather stark and would have benefited from some plants.

Nevertheless it was nice quite relaxing hotel and we were sorry to leave,

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking the pool.
