“sea views essential”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

WHAT A GEM, these views are so cheap - you must go for the seaview room options and preferably a higher floor.
Cannot understand the 2* rating, rooms comfy and large, hotel spotless, all staff great - cannot praise just one, food was plentiful and usually something for everyone . You want 5* food then pop round the corner to other hotel and pay at least twice as much But YOU WILL NOT FIND THIS VIEW IN ANY OTHER PLACE IN THIS TOWN. Thank you for a lovely 2 weeks brilliant

Room Tip: high rooms 336 - 348, 436 - 448(sea views)

I visited this hotel for 2 weeks in August with my two teenage children. It's a superb location, right on the beach which was perfect for us as we love being on the beach & swimming in the sea. We didn't use the pool at all as it's such a lovely beach, always clean & never packed. I found the hotel to be clean & tidy, sheets & towels were changed regularly & the hotel maids were very friendly. The receptionists weren't quite so friendly & I actually felt like I was intruding when I needed to speak to them. Our room had a sea view & was definitely worth paying extra for. I'm an early riser & really enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the sun rise every morning. It was lovely to sit out there late at night too, very pretty. It was really hot while we were out there & I regret not booking a hotel with air con or a fridge in the room. I did hire a couple of fans from reception but they weren't really enough. My son & I slept on our lilos on the balcony a couple of times because the room was just too hot. I'd have liked a fridge so we could have had cold drinks in the room. Other than that, the room was bright, clean & a good size for the 3 of us. Down in the restaurant, staff were polite & cheery but the food was a bit so-so. We all enjoyed the breakfasts, there was a good variety & we had a cooked breakfast almost every day but the evening meals were a disappointment. It's not the lack of variety or quality that bothered me because you get what you pay for, but the fact that what should have been hot food was actually served lukewarm. We all got upset stomachs & from chatting with other holiday makers, we weren't the only ones. We ended up eating out at night rather than eat at the hotel. Fortunately there are plenty of great restaurants on the island. I have no idea what the hotel entertainment was like because we were out & about most nights. On the two nights we were around, we could hear the entertainment from a neighbouring hotel but not so much that it's an issue. It's more background noise really. I would love to go back to the Riomar because the location is great, the rooms are clean, it's close to the beach & a short walk to the bus station, shops, bars & restaurants etc but the lack of air con & fridge is a deal breaker for me.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a sea view. The view out the back is dismal but the sea view is beautiful.

went on the 25th, september , with my partner paul, and very good friends john & jean scott,
were giving a room at the front with a small balcony,(too small), so after 3 days we upgraded to a sea veiw, at a cost of 50euros, what a bargain. VEIW superb, room basic but good, maid service was excellent, towels changed when you wanted, rooms done every day, unless you put the do not disturb notice on your door. (one tip, take a kettle.)
hotel was very clean, and staff were very good, saul the waiter ran his feet off, but always had a smile, entertainment at hotel was good, except " sourness" they were cr*p., we will be back in 2014,no airconditioning, but have got fans , marks out of 10--- 9.5.

Room Tip: a travel kettle is a must, if like me you like your tea.

HOTEL:
Hotel Riomar has the best location at Santa Eulalia. We had a sea view and well worth the extra cost. The views are amazing. The Hotel is very clean, the sheets on the bed were brilliant white and changed regular, the towels were changed when needed. You only had to put the towels that needed changing in the bath and the job was done. The cleaners work very hard, they were on the go constantly. The pool is amazing, however, it was not used much. The layout of the pool is very good, there are no sunbeds around the pool and stops you getting splashed when people dive in. However, there are plenty of chairs and tables around the pool. The sunbeds are in a court yard on their own, however, they could do with more sunbeds. They only have enough sunbeds to go on the outside of the court yard, they could put two more rows down the middle and there would be enough, this would hopefully then stop people putting their towels down and not using them. such a waste. Perhaps, one of the staff could monitor the towel situation, if the bed is not used for one hour, they could take the towels away. Riomar is only 2* and people should take this into account, as there is no air conditioning, however, there is a fan, no tv and no fridge and does need some modification, however, this would then put the price up, I think it should stay as it is.
FOOD:
The breakfasts were amazing, they had everything you can think of, fruit, meats, cheese, cakes, nuts, cereals, hot rolls, and cooked breakfasts and lots more. The best white coffee ever.
The evening meal, however, needs a different layout, as there were too much queuing. I think the soup should be on a table by it self, as people could not pass this queue to get to the salads. However, saying that the salads were good, and we always found something that we liked. I know some people complained about burgers and hotdogs, well they did not have to eat them, as there was always something else available.
STAFF:
The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. When we booked in the young girl at the reception was so welcoming, she was a breath of fresh air, the restaurant staff were very efficient especially the Restaurant Manager (the blond lady) sorry never took her name.

Would we go back? YES. The only disappointment I have is that we cannot book for next year as we have already booked two holidays, however, I am going back on line and try and book for May 2015. Wish it was sooner.

Well done Riomar, we will be back.

Room Tip: A sea view is a must.

LOCATION...Wonderful location few steps from the beach stayed here for 11 days in August, cannot fault the staff or cleanliness of the hotel. FOOD.... breakfasts were good, the main meals let the hotel down, salads were very good desserts were good but the main meals were not very appetising, lots of fish and pork it seemed only the cheapest ingredients were used in the dishes, but its all down to personal taste. ROOMS.... we were overlooking the street as other reviewers have said these can get very hot but we knew this before we booked we didn't have a problem we used the fan and kept patio door open all night... Unfortunately you do tend to be woken by the binmen at 3 most mornings also coaches coming and going, but we were on holiday we certainly not going to let it spoil it my nine year old daughter never woke up... Advice book a sea view room definatly worth the extra cost bathroom very dated the shower was not much more than a trickle but we managed but the saving grace is the cleanliness towels changed every day the cleaners did a wonderful job every day ENTERTAINMENT non existent really, watched a great drag act on the Saturday a very good singer on the Wednesday and sunday was a magic show we had a very bad storm on our last 2 days no guest were leaving the hotel and they had a organ player as entertainment, talking to other guests I would not advise family's to come here out of the school holidays the hotel is geared for the older patron, but my 9 year old made lots of friends and had lots of fun overall a wonderful 2 star hotel worthy of 3, would most definatly stay again.

We have just returned from a week's stay at this hotel,we really.enjoyed it.The hotel is a bit dated but spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble ..positioned right on the seafront it's location is ideal ,get a seaview room and you can wake every morning to the sound of the sea.The rooms don't have air conditioning but we found that if you leave the balcony door open slightly this was enough to keep the room cool.food was really good plenty of choice and always fresh.we will definitely be returning soon.

Room Tip: Get a seaview room the view is amazing.

This hotel is rated as 2 star but this underrates the effort put in buy all the staff,
the room was basic but very clean, the food was varied and plentiful,
the location was stunning.
We have no complaints whatsoever,
we would recommend the hotel and resort for families or couples
not really suitable for the younger generation

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view
