“sisters sisters”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

My sister and i have just returned after our sixteenth visit to the Panorama and will be back next year. The sun bed situation is the same in most hotels and yes it is funny watching people who during the day cant walk but suddenly at 7.30 am can run their little legs to get a bed.We timed it so we just ambled out and got a bed where we wanted at the edge of the pool. Abig thank you must go to Adam for really making our holiday more enjoyable ,Shannon needs to rethink her vocation shame really as she does try hard. The entertainment this year was awful and i agree with other reviewers Shadowlands were dire and although the Thompson team were very good we were fed up with the same routines perhaps next year they will have some new ideas lets hope so.

Room Tip: pool view but not if you want an early night.

Enjoyed a weeks holiday at the Panorama.
The hotel is in a lovely situation near the harbour, and enjoys wonderful views.
As a party of four with a couple of fussy eaters we were very pleased with the quality of the food.
The staff were very helpful at all times and rooms if basic were clean and most importantly quiet.
The aspect that totally spoilt the whole week was the sun bed situation. You really could not get a sunbed anywhere after eight am. We were assured by the rep that this was being adressed, but I certainly saw no signs of change.
95% of the people staying at the time we were there were over 75, and im sure they enjoy getting up early . But as we work we look forward to not rushing around at 7.30 on our holiday. This urgently needs to be addressed , as many of the people we spoke to agreed that they would not return purely because of this situation. A great shame.

We have just spent two weeks at the Panorama. We have no complaints about the Hotel but as far as we were concerned the entertainment in the evening was awful compared to the entertainment at the Picafort Park Hotel last year. Out of the 14 nights we only enjoyed a couple of evenings. By the end of the fortnight we had seen the Thomson group 4 times. The night Adam did a take of The Weakest Link was awful the night of Mr and Mrs was just as pathetic. Come on Thomsons surely you can do better. According to the regular guests (some been there 20 years running ) the food is not as good as it was before AI was introduced this year we thought it was good. You could always find something to eat. Some of the frequent visiting guests seem to look down on the AI guests saying they drink far too much as it is free.!!! Do they not realize we pay for it as AI. I certainly did not see any AI guests drunk. We saw a couple of the regular guests a bit under the influence.

All the Hotel staff were very pleasant except the older two barmen who never seemed to smile.
All the young waiters were great. The dining room staff always had a smile for everyone.

Not sure about the two tier AI. We were on the Standard AI it was adequate for us. Never come across two tier before. No mention of it in brochure or on arrival at Hotel.

We did not join in any of the daytime activities (our choice). By not doing so we were completely ignored by Adam and Shannon.

We would go back to the Panorama if we thought the entertainment was better.

Room Tip: Pool view if available.

Stayed here for a week at the beginning of September, there was 4 in our party 2 couples and the first time that any of us had stayed all inclusive. The hotel is lovely, the rooms were very clean and spacious, and the choice for all the meals was excellent. No idea why people are complaining about the food we found it difficult to decide what not to have. The breakfast was substantial having both english and continental choices. We kept to salad at lunch times but there were several hot options. You could also use the snack bar if you became peckish later and we did take part in the tea and cake at 5pm. There was a good variety of dishes in the evening with a choice of even an English dish for those who wanted it. Had an evening meal at the Italian restaurant as part of the deal and this is well worth while.
Enjoyed aqua aerobics and the daily quiz but some of the evening entertainment was a bit of a let down with the highlight being when the bar staff did their routine.
Took the ferry to Ibiza town and also the afternoon trip on the train both worth it. If you want to go to the hippy market it needs to be visited early before the crowds get there. Finally the sun bed issue, on the couple of days we stayed at the hotel during the day we were able to get 4 beds on the upper terrace which was quieter and more spacious than the pool area, fortunately one of our party was an early riser and went out around 8.00am to secure these.

This hotel is well positioned and the staff as well as the Thomson reps were great. The age group is definitely on the more mature side and we were in the younger age group there but this did not really matter. All in all a great holiday.

My boyfriend and I (26 and 27) stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks at the beginning of August, the hotel was recommended to us by my parents who stayed here a few years back.

After reading previous reviews which were mixed we were a little worried about the food but this was not the case. We went all inclusive and always found something to eat, we even ate out for lunch some days and the pizzeria visit was amazing. The food on evening was good and was always something to eat but would have been good if there was more choice. Yes the air con was poor in restaurant on night but that was coz the door to outside was open but days when I was closed could feel the air and was much more comfortable rather than rushing tea as it was too hot. Some people moaned about the all inclusive package as everything was not included but we did not mind as we always found something to drink included but would be nice not have to put money towards drinks when you pay so much for a holiday.

People who say this hotel is full of old people are so wrong (well in main season it wasn't) there were lots of young couples there even younger than us. We chose this hotel as we like class and cannot be done with going anyway like party resorts. Best thing was it was adults only which we prefer.

The entertainment team, Adam and Shannon, were great and really made us laugh, we loved joining in with daytime activities and as the weather was boiling was sometimes nice just to get out of sun. Personally I thought the entertainment on a evening could have been better with some tribute acts and not always having the production team on, I thought James was very rude to Bill on the bus on way back from Fiesta in Ibiza Town and Charlotte wants to learn to smile at guests who are same age as her rather than gave dirty looks as I was very shocked when she did this to me and only went to smile. We do like good entertainment but as long as were are being entertained and it is decent we do not mind. We visited Charlie's bar a few night and the Rhianna show was awful and so was a group of 2 lads and about 4/5 lasses we had to leave.

The Thomson reps Bill was very good at his job and Laura joined in with things but Jo was forever on the phone chatting about her social life, not a good thing.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and on two occasions we had a problem with shower and fridge but were fixed in same day.

Now for sunbeds.... our room overlooked the pool which was fab but I use to love watching everyone running for their beds and their spots. We thought if we cant beat them then join them so my boyfriend use to go down after 7.30 to get a spot round the pool some days we were able to (but like sardines) or we went onto the terrace which was fine and nearly always got a spot. The things I heard that went on about sunbeds is ridiculous and some people need to get a grip. The morning we were leaving we came out the lift and seen the queue, this was at 7.15, it went all way to the piano area (the guy who played the piano on a evening was fab and was lovely to listen to) I had to literally laugh out loud when I seen the huge queue and even the girl on reception could not believe it. Tony the night man was lovely and he said people start queuing at 6 which is madness.

Overall, we had a great holiday here was very relaxed and we would definitely return again, the bar staff on a evening doing the nightly dance was fab too. But at the bar there was usually a queue on a night which was very long.

One thing I hated was that on plane going to Ibiza there was groups of lads and groups of lasses and the captain even had to come over speaker asking the groups of lads whose behaviour was inappropriate to calm down as it was family flight or police will be waiting at Ibiza airport. I do think Thomson should look at groups of lads and lasses travelling to San An (I know everyone not the same) during the main season. Was so glad we were away from San An when we arrived at Es Cana.

Room Tip: We much preferred pool view as it was quieter.

just returned from a week's stay, feel compelled to do a review to give a balanced representation as I can see there are so many glowing reports...
Firstly, this is 2 seperate hotels knocked into 1. We were allocated room 109 in the old bit. This room was a disgrace, and we have we have stayed in far better budget accommodation rooms than this, what a disappointment. Stained bedcover, tiny, and a view of a scruffy car park and a giant pipe right under the balcony (with a nicely swept up pile of cigarette ends) - sorry, but not what I was expecting from the glossy website images.. the worst thing though was we quickly established the balcony doors didn't lock. After travelling since the early hours the last thing we wanted was to have to get this sorted. I reported this to reception and said that the locks appeared to have been forced.(the hotel said this was not the case, but it did look like it to us), and being the end first floor room next to a fire escape this was worrying. To cut a long story short, someone came to repair the door. And after complaining again the next day we were given another room in the other new bit of the hotel, which was much better, but the fridge smelt awful.( not until after a frosty response from Karla the receptionist who admonished her colleague for ever having told us we could be moved - management take note. Staff doing each other down is not a good customer facing image to portray)' why are the hotel offering out two completely different standards of room and not mentioning this in their publicity info.
Dining room is far too small for this amount of guests, and extremely noisy. If thomson holidays such as this are supposed to be about no children, why is it assumed you will always be sitting in a large group? We want to enjoy our meal as a couple not a cm away from the next person. positives were- can eat outside and the food was excellent, no complaints there at all.
On the whole the staff were very friendly, but they do seem overstretched in dining room.
And yes guests really do get up at the crack of dawn, which is very silly as there were enough sunbeds to go around. Thomson reps- none around anywhere when we needed one on arrival. I understand this was as a flight day, but surely common sense say s that's when you may need one?
General standard of the hotel was not 4 star (carpet on the. First stairs past reception not been hoovered for about a year by the looks of it), and someone is not being honest at thomson if they are saying this is a 4 star. We are well seasoned travellers, used many other thomson gold hotels, and standards have gone down if this is one.
General age of guests was 70's, and for us as a 50 & 56 year old, it was not for us.
You will make your own mind up from these reviews as it obviously has a hard-core of returning fans, who see it as a home from home.

We won't return, and not to the resort either. St Eulalia far prettier, less man made, and all round better Ibiza relaxed vibe. We also wouldn't bother with thomson gold again - whilst we were at the hotel they were filming the promotional shots and videos with actors and it was so far from the truth of the actual clientele it was a joke.
I am sure the hotel would refute all of this, and will no doubt continue to cater for their returning guests anyway. We had a power cut also, and no provision was in place we for back up.
Finally, although the general entertainment wasn't really our thing, we could see that Adam was a star in the making, and he is wasted here. If anyone reads this from the TV companies, snap him up.

Room Tip: Avoid the old block at all costs.
