“Functional with great views of the harbour”
Reviewed 2 August 2011

Pleasant enough hotel - strange entrance - go down staircase or lift from the road entrance to the reception/bar area. Rooms functional rather than beautiful. Best rooms on the garden level, below the reception/bar/restaurant level. Good breakfast. Mainly cold buffet but also freshly cooked eggs, bacon etc.. We had no other food or drink in the hotel.

Great views of the harbour. Bit of a walk into town but not a big problem. Best not to have a car - the parking looked virtually impossible everywhere and we were there out of season

A fantastic hotel with beautiful views of the harbour of Mahon. It is looking a little tired but this does not affect the overall quality of the hotel which is really better than the 3* it has been given. The staff were extremely helpful and the buffet breakfasts were superb. The bar's terrace is a wonderful place to round off the evening and watch the ships and boats in the harbour. It is a ten minute walk to the bus station where you can go nearly anywhere on the island on clean, air conditioned, on time(!) buses. The only downside is that the hotel is perched on a cliff and it is a steep climb of slopes and steps to get back up to it especially in 32+ degree heat! However, that would not stop us returning to the hotel but is a warning to others who may find the climb a challenge.

A most pleasant hotel. Staff all excellent, very clean and comfortable. A small walk to the centre of town and the port . The reception staff offered us a pick of the rooms. We chose a balcony with a view of the port, great
Only downside is how expensive everything is. From a coke to a beer, rediculous prices. Still we enjoyed it all. Juan

On the doorstep of Mahon, Free Parking.

Nice pool in a little garden, not heated but perfect for a quick dip to cool off after a hot dusty day walking around Mahon.

10 minute stroll down to the harbour where we had a lovely walk around the harbour to Cala Figuera (the next bay where the rich kids hang out in super yachts) and back before dinner in a lovely restaurant by the Xorigeur Gin distillery.

Easy 10 minutes into Mahon centre, 2 minutes from the Mahon Museum.

Perfect place to stay in Mahon, however, if you don't need to stay in Mahon....

Skip it and stay in Ciutadella, the old capital, only 45 mins by car from the airport and with a lovely pedestrianised centre dating back to the 14th Century. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ciutadella_de_Menorca

But can't fault The Mirador.

Great location, on a bluff overlooking the port -- quick cab ride from the airport and within easy walking distance of central Mahon and the commercial strip (restaurants, shops, etc) along the port. My room was basic and nothing fancy, but clean and functional. Unfortunately, I did not have a harbor view, but the view from my window was still pleasant and serene. The breakfast and dinner buffets were large, with range of options. The staff were reasonably helpful, although I did overhear a conversation between one of receptionists and a guest that was less than pleasant. The guest had a very simple request and the receptionist in this case was rather rude.

Although I did not use the pool, it looked inviting and was not crowded during the time I was there. Menorca is a very pretty and relaxing island; although I was there on business, I would love to return for a leisure trip some day.

Flights pre booked, trying to decide where to stay in Mahon, ended up here. After studying previos reviews, i called the hotel directly to request a harbour view, refurbished room with balconly.
Upon our arrival, we were allocated room 204, fantastic view, but what an awful room! All MDF and formica, more towels on the floor (to soak up the damp) than in the bathrom, cracks in the bath, filled in with pollyfiller, smelt dreadfully of damp. To cut a long story short, we moved the next morning to one of the 7 refurbished rooms in the hotel, better, but not much. Even the refurbished rooms need refurbishing! Just scruffy and unkempt. Under the bushes on the terrace were a take away coffee cup, a CD, an empty can and a polysterene chip carton, my view was, if i could see them, so could they. Fancy shower in black marble - that didn't work, an alternative shower head had been fitted, but this too was broken, had to be hand held with one hand, whilst washing with the other. The whole thing was a disaster, the plug was blocked with scum and hairs and consequently, the water didn't run out, during the 4 days we were there, the shower wasn't cleaned once.
The reception/bar area were dead, on the occasions we decided to have a drink, we had to wait while the receptionist went to fetch the bar tender.
The indoor jacuzzi was freezing, the grass around the outdoor pool was like a jungle and the loungers dirty. No towels were provided.
At the top of about 500 badly lit steps, once you got down, there was loads around - but you have to get up again! No outdoor lights on the terraces or balconies. Air conditioning in the rooms, but having been on full all day, the temperature hadn't changed by 1c! Very warm, never dropped below 28c in the rooms - and that was in September, imagine what it's like in July/August.
On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, feather pillows and the breakfasts were great.
Cheap and cheerful, but i wouldn't stay again.

Myself (34yrs) and my sister (24yrs) decided last minute to take a weekend break. The Hotel was 10 mins away from the airport in a taxi (12 euros). We had phoned the hotel directly to book, which seemed the cheapest way, and although the receptionist spoke little English, they were polite and helpful. We had previously looked at reviews, and our prerequisites were cleanliness and location. We weren't disappointed!

We had a little "balcony" which was great as it meant we also had the best views of the Port. I would probably ask for one specifically as there we're many. The room was spotless and modern and the bathroom was lovely with a smoked glass door. There was also a mini bar which was handy to store water in, although it did cost us £8 for 2 bottles of water and a fanta, which i suppose is to be expected. There were only about 2 british channels on the telly, but it is spain afterall. Breakfast was great. Everything you'd want and eggs etc cooked to order.

The location was great. Although there were lots of steps to get down to the port, it didn't take long, and as it was at the furthest end, we only had to turn right, rather than wonder what was to the left! Took about 20 mins to walk from the hotel to the very end of the Port. Nice little shops and restaurants and chilled bars. We didn't stay out very late, but there appeared to be lots of little bars opening up later on. The town was lovely too, nice shops to browse around, although I would definately eat at the port.

We spent the day at the beach which was beautiful, and the sunday by the pool, which was lovely, although it was a little too hot.

I've never written a review before, but feel I should as other peoples comments on trip advisor have ensured that I have just had a wonderful weekend.
