This is a definitely recommended hotel.

40 min train to Barcelona.
Mataro train station is 4 min walking distance.
10 min walking to Mataro center.
Fantastic room view(must remember to order sea view room)
Very helpful staff

Only drawback is the restaurant. We had a lunch, it was alright. Spent 20 euro on room service with chicken soup, and pasta. The soup was one of the worst we had. No chicken tast, jus water and nothing inside.

Suggest to eat in restaurant outside. But avoide the one called Sharawan at the street corner 400m away from the hotel.

Overall, a Nice hotel. Recommended.

Located in the port of Mataro', the hotel ripresenta a good chiocce for a stay in the city, either for vacation or business.
Rooms are big enough, most of the m with a nice see view.
Wifi available in the rooms, tv with limited channels. Breakfast good.
Easy for running on the marina

Decided to stay down by the sea this time and this hotel looked good on-line. I would recommend sat nav to get you there and then don't worry about going through the Port parking barrier to get to the parking. It costs €11 a day but I found out later that the underground parking for the hotel was only €6. I decided just to stay put!
Nice modern reception and very pleasant staff checked me in. Breakfast doesn't start till 7am and I got the impression that I would not be welcome if I came down earlier than that. As I had to scoot off at 7.05 I decided to give it a miss, although I was offered a "picnic" breakfast.
The room on the first floor was big and airy but basic with no tea. coffee making facilities. A small balcony allowed pleasant views across the marina and out to sea, and this really made the choice worthwhile. Wifi was free but kept dropping out which was a bit frustrating, but as it was free.........
The dinner menu looked appealing so I went downstairs at 9pm (dinner starts at 8:30 in these parts) but was put off as there was noone in the restaurant apart from a rather loud person from a country known for loud people! I made a hasty retreat and decided to do a supermarket shop and stay in my room (sad I know).
Unfortunately the loud people were on my floor and as the walls were rather thin I thought I was in for a noisy night. Eventually it was quiet and I slept soundly enough save for the distant roar of the sea, or was it a certain person snoring away?
I'd go back next time i'm in the vicinity.

Room Tip: Insist on a room overlooking the marina, although I suspect that they would fill these rooms first a...

We went to this hotel during a weekend in Barcelona. The initial reception was very fine, rooms are modern and clean, very nice view when facing the seaside . At dinner time the problems started ... we had a very long drive and where exhausted . but restaurant does not open before 8:30pm so we tried to order a dinner in the room . Phone was asking for a PUK code and could not be used , reception did not believe us ! after a few walks up and down because room service cannot be ordered at front desk ( only from room ) they finally accepted to take the order !?! When the food finally came we where very disappointed . food was generally poor and for french fries we got chips ( lays style) . We just left the hotel and had a very nice dinner in a Italian restaurant nearby ... you have to go to Spain for that. Breakfast buffet is excellent though but expensive. make sure its included ! Spa is a waist of time and gym equipment does not work ( hammam is cold ) In general a very nice , clean and beautiful hotel , just too bad for the few things that went wrong .

Room Tip: Train is 2 minutes away and takes you in 25 minutes to the heart of Barcelona

We were in Barcelona on business and were looking for budget accomodation. Atenea fit the budget perfectly (120 Euros a night). Wifi is complimentary and everything else is extra (incl breakfast). Port Mataro is faaaar from the city. Catalunya takes 3 metros and 80-90min to get. The metro station looks like its bang opposite the hotel but needs a 10minute walk to get to.

Rooms are compact (tight!) but they all come with a balcony and if you take the seaside rooms the view is FANTASTIC! We were there for 4 days and had 2 great runs along the sea. The hotel gym is hardly used and most things don't work. Breakfast at the hotel is satisfactory, didnt try the other meals. Rooms have almost no storage and while they are clean and well kept there is almost no place to hang stuff. Rooms on the other side seemed to have arrangements for kids

Given that its far out in the suburbs, not much to do around. There are about 3-4 decent restaurants (Italian and seafood) next to the hotel. A 15min walk to the town center yields a few more options. On the whole a sleepy little town far out from the city with limited restaurant options, nothing else but a fantastic view.

Room Tip: Seaside rooms have a view that might almost make up for the lack of action around the hotel.

We were there for 17 day stay. Room was great and staff was really nice. My toddler enjoyed running all around. The hotel is in a really good area to enjoy day trips.. Looking forward to going back next year... I have to say that Mataró needed a hotel like this, after many years of having to stay in other places, I think is great somebody invested in this location.
