“Magical Holiday in a Magical Place”
Reviewed 6 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

My Father and Step-Mother rented Mas Torroella to celebrate their joint 70th birthdays along with their children and grandchildren. The villa was booked several months in advance and the whole family had been looking at the website and facebook page in anticipation of the trip. If you have looked on either of these sites you will most certainly be impressed with the very high standard of the villa and the amenities. However, they will not prepare you for the real thing!

Prior to arrival we had numerous calls to Silvia (the owner) who answered all of our questions and made all the preparation we requested without any hassle. She was very accommodating and she stocked up on all the basic amenities to take the sting out of our first big shop, stocking up on all the large and heavy items.

On arrival we were met by Silvia and her husband and the staff who gave us an incredibly warm welcome and a wonderful tour of the house during which she gave us the story behind the house. The staff took all our luggage to our rooms and immediately made us feel welcome. Silvia actually said" welcome to your home" and we genuinely did feel that comfortable.

As a large group of people we were impressed with all aspects of the villa. You don't really get the scale of the place until you arrive and we found that if you wanted your own privacy there was plenty of room to have a bit of down time away from the rest of the group. We had 6 children in our party aged between 3 and 13. There was so much for them to do from playing in their very own park to tennis/table tennis, large lawns to play sport on and swimming in both the indoor and outdoor pools.

Silvia was always on hand when we needed her (although this was rare) and the staff were incredibly polite and respectful, always on hand to show us how things worked or where things were. They were at the villa everyday working away but you never felt like your holiday was being intruded upon.

We spent virtually all of our weeks holiday at the villa as we had young children with us but we never felt like we were getting "cabin fever". One of the days we went to the beautiful fishing village of Llafranc which is well worth a visit and another day wandering around Pallafrugel. We don't think we thoroughly explored what the local area had to offer but we were so content at Mas Torroella we didn't feel the need to leave. However, one place we all were happy to go to was our little trip down to the wine merchants, Grau. If you are interested in wine and spirits it's well worth a trip and whilst at the villa we sampled a large amount of local wines which were excellent and great value.

The only negative thing I can possibly say is that the "road" up to the villa is 4km of particularly rough track and had it been easier to pop up and down to Pallafrugel and the beautiful fishing villages we may have done so more often. Having said that there were so many positives to the villa that it didn't make a significant impact on our time there.

Over all we would give Mas Torroella and Silvia and all her team 10/10! You really have to experience it for yourself so see how magical it is and how relaxing it was. We spent numerous nights eating, drinking and star gazing (there was no light pollution and the night sky was breath taking). We can't wait to come back... we just need my father and his wife to take us back...hint hint!

Mas Torroella Review
The place itself is almost beyond describing in its beauty. Every brick, every stone, every furnishing, every garden, is perfectly designed and aesthetically complementary to its surroundings. There are even ocean views!
It is spacious and was completely accommodating for our family of 20. The bedrooms (and accompanying bathrooms) are large, comfortable, and beautifully appointed.
The grounds are vast, immaculate, and thoughtfully arranged with something for everyone. There’s a playground for little children, a pool, tennis court, table tennis, basketball, hiking and biking trails and all of that without leaving the protected or extended property. Our small children loved the fact that balls and rackets and Frisbees were all available with large enclosed spaces on which to play with them and an outside pool to jump in when that’s done and an inside pool to go to when, in one grandson’s words, “you don’t feel like putting on sunscreen”.
There are maids, gardeners, a full-time estate manager to turn to for everyday needs and a basket of fresh bread waiting in the kitchen every morning.
Sylvia (the owner) is wonderful to work with and very responsive when asked for anything.
Our family ranges in age from 1 to 74. We have rented villas before this in France and Italy. We all felt we had previously experienced all that this type of vacation could possibly offer. Mas Torroello proved otherwise. Yes, we recommend it! And yes we would go back.

“Top Quality Luxury Family Retreat”
Reviewed 25 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

What a beautiful spot! Lots of attention to all the details. The property is expansive and immaculate, though still felt relaxed enough and intimate. With a family of 18 we all had plenty of space and privacy with lots of room to come together as a large group. We used all aspects of the property from the outdoor pool and surrounding lounge areas, tennis courts, outdoor ping-pong, indoor spa area, large grassy area where we had soccer tournaments. We rented bikes and explored the local trail systems that are also excellent for hikers and mountain bikers who like single track. The villa is up in the mountains and fairly secluded though not far from some interesting towns, villages, wineries and other points of interest. We had breakfast and dinner catered to us every day. The food was amazing and varied. Lots of fresh seafood! Our hosts catered to any special dietary requirements with great care and the staff were like part of the family by the end of our stay.

“Paradise on a Spanish hilltop”
Reviewed 17 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed at Mas Toroella in August of 2016 with 19 family members for an 80th birthday celebration. We had an amazing time. The rooms and villa are pure luxury and the grounds and views are fantastic. There is an indoor pool and spa as well as a outdoor pool and wonderful lounging area, to enjoy the the gorgeous foliage and swallows that dance for you every evening starting around 5pm. It's quite a show and the best part of the day.

The staff are wonderful and kind and the food is authentic and delicious.

There's lots to do in and around the area. Great cycling, hiking and running straight from the house or about a 15 - 20 minute drive to beaches and other beautiful Spanish towns such as Pals and Girona. On site we had fun playing soccer, tennis and ping pong.

I would highly recommend this place for any group - it's an unforgettable place!

“Paradise”
Reviewed 6 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Our family of 24 celebrated our joint 70th birthday at Mas Toroella. Photographs on the website look wonderful, but I assure you it is even more amazing when you get there. We were greeted by Silvia and Joseph, who proudly showed us around - justifiably so. The attention to detail is incredible. They also arrived early in the morning to wave us goodbye! A lovely touch.
Chef, catering staff, maid service, gardner and maintence staff were all a credit to Mas Torroella. What a team! Find it very difficult to find anything wrong with this venue other than perhaps more sun beds and a litter bin by the pool. Our ages ranged from 5 - 70 and we all had a wonderful time. Thank you so much Sylvia & team for your very professional, but very personal service. We are all sad to leave. Xx

“Excellent Vast Villa in Costa Brava”
Reviewed 2 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Spent a week in the huge villa for my mum's 60th - staff were all attentive and excellent . The villa has been restored to an excellent standard with lots of love & care. The indoor swimming pool is brilliant, the wine cellar very authentic and the outdoor terraces/chill out areas were brilliant. I would most definitely go back & recomend it for anyone with a big group, wedding or family holiday , ticks all the boxes and great host / staff (it is located up what seems a never ending hill but don't be put off by this, the villa's location gives it complete privacy and nice views)

“An Idyllic Setting for Families, a Wedding, or Other Special Celebrations”
Reviewed 9 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We just celebrated our golden wedding anniversary with all 19 of our family at the spectacularly beautiful Mas Torroella. It was a delightful, enjoyable experience for all, ages 4 to 78. Our nine grandchildren and their parents loved both the indoor and outdoor pools, the beautiful lawns where they could play frisbee and soccer, the basketball and tennis courts, outdoor table tennis, and a playground. The staff were wonderfully kind and helpful to us and they prepared delicious breakfasts and dinners in the large indoor dining room and on the lovely terrace under umbrellas. Sylvia, the owner, has paid attention to every detail, selection of fabrics, choice of colors, thoughtful provision of outdoor blankets for the possibility of a chilly evening, and so much more. Terraces were beautifully landscaped with white petunias and bordered by gorgeous blue Russian sage. Gorgeous sunsets and even a full moon with a peak at the Mediterranean from the second story terrace of our bedroom. We took several days trips to the nearby, beautiful Costa Brava beaches and excellent restaurants, but we were always delighted to return to beautiful Mas Torroella.
