“Great lunch shame about the spa”
Reviewed 20 October 2012

Myself and 3 friends had intended on spending time in the spa and enjoying the lunch for a day. I phoned the hotel in the morning and asked what time the spa opened and was told 9.30am. Unfortunately due to circumstances we didn't actually arrive until 12.30pm only to be told that the spa closed between 1pm and 4pm. The receptionist was apologetic but confessed that she had assumed we would arrive after my phone call.
So as not to waste the journey we stayed for lunch. A 3 course menu del diá for 21 euros (excluding wine and water). We sat outside on the terrace overlooking the swimming pool and we were the only people there. The service was great and the food was delicious. I had the best calamares I've ever tasted followed by a fillet steak that the knife just melted through. Delicious!
I'm sure the spa would have been as good if only we'd had the chance to experience it but the lunch made up for it.

This is a lovely hotel in a perfect setting. Just yards form the beach, it has its own pool and grounds as well, with plenty of space for guest to relax in. Our stay was part of an organized private tour, so we did not pay for our rooms directly. In October, which is slightly off-season, the hotel was not busy. We were given a room with a balcony and sea view which was very nice (luxurious bath by Spanish standards) but I suspect had been shoehorned in from originally larger rooms in some previous renovation. Personally, I would have been happier with less view and more quiet. Everything was clean and well-presented.

As usual in Spain, my only issue is with the other quests, who in addition to staying up until dawn, can't imagine anyone would want to sleep before the sun comes up. Ear plugs are a necessity in all Mediterranean hotels - hard surfaces abound. TV only in Spanish (and maybe a French channel - I watched soccer/football with the sound off).

Our dinner and breakfast were included and were very good, although due to the numbers served, the hotel has installed Jura "coffee machines" which produce what must be the worst coffee in Spain (Spain usually offers excellent coffee in the tiniest out-of-the-way places).

Dinner was good, with a good wine list - the food was a bit "cafeteria" in its presentation, though. By that, I mean it appeared to have been prepared a bit in advance of ordering and kept hot. Perfectly good, though and a decent choice of options.

The hotel is at the quiet end of S'Agaro, which is probably a very good thing in the high season. Recommended, but view your room before accepting it.

Room Tip: Try for a room without anyone above you or a shared balcony, unless you really want that view.

We found this hotel nice and good value. The sea-facing rooms are nice (but a bit small) with balconies facing the pool and sea. Breakfast buffet was very good, the pool was nice and the location close to the beach was also great. Sagaro itself is a very small place, which is nice. Its close to other bigger places like Platja de Oro and charming towns like Tossa de mar.

1. Location. Very beautiful surroundings and view! Public beach is just across the road. Also you can reach beautiful La Conca beach is 15-20 min by foot or you can use your room card key to access this beach by car (2-5 min).
2. Food. The hotel has good restaurant and pool bar with reasonable prices. Breakfast is ok, but it is very strange for me no fresh vegetables.
3. Noise. The most disadvantage of this hotel is noise in the morning!!! Every day at 7-30 one guy blow out pines needles with a special super noisy machine. It sounds like a big electriс saw. Two times a week another guy at the same time cutting grass with a huge track. It sounds like 100 boeings!!!
4. Check your hotel bills carefully. Hotel staff try to charge you bills and services that you never ordered. But when you tell them about this they never argue and decrease the bills.
5. Rooms. The size of the rooms is not the same. We had a normal size room with pool view (across hotel parking ;) ), but there are many tiny rooms in the hotel.

Room Tip: The best rooms is with pool view, but check the size. Some rooms have a big terrace.

When can a Hotel truly be called a Hotel. My answer to that is when you know without a doubt you are staying in one. This Hotel has, I understand, been in the family for many years, and it is very clear that from this, the traditions of a real hotel have derived.
All the staff, direction, reception, waiters, chefs etc. have the time and motivation of listening, answering, helping, with any questions or problems you may have.
It is so fine to have dinner served by excellent friendly waiters, with a good knowledge of the different dishes, and menus, instead of having to get everything from the buffet tables.
If the menu card did not have anything you could eat or liked, they were ready to ask the master chef it he make a dish you could eat and would like.
I can say no more, the hotel is superb, and the staff are tremendous. I can’t wait to be able to return.

Room Tip: The size, the location, bed, and cost

S'agaro in Spain is a wonderful place and the S'Agaro Hotel very well place. Next to the beach, water sport and all next to all what you needs.

You will enjoy the nice swimming pool and the park where you can find sun or shadow. There is a lot of long chair and you don't need to dispute to find a free chair, like in other hotel in this area.

There is also a spa you and you familly will enjoy.

The room was clean and staff usefull, we had a nice badroom and large terrace but all the room have not a large terrase. The bad point is that you need to pray to have a sea view.

The restaurant was very good and you will find always food you like. Bad point is that it open to late for us.

Although this hotel has a great location and the accommodations are sufficient, they cancelled our reservation via a generic email the day before we were going to check into our honeymoon. When we called them they told us there was nothing they could do and that we would have to rebook (at a higher rate) using the booking.com website. Luckily we were able to rebook the room, and it ended up costing us an additional 40 euros for our stay. We will likely not stay here again.
