“Nice Room & location but avoid eating here”
Reviewed 6 September 2012

We stayed here with our dog in a lovely room which had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and welcoming and its a great location for staying in symmonds yat. Due to it being a saturday night, it was very noisey but this was totally expected being that we were staying in a pub!
Unfortunately we ate our evening meal here and this was not good at all. The menu doesnt fill you with excitement and it is typical fast pub grub. Even though it wasn't busy it took a while to be served, especially as it should have been the simplist to cook. The breakfast was also simple and dissapointing. There was no juice, we just had museli and cornflakes and the only cooked option was bacon, sausage, beans and egg. Again, this should have been simple but came out cold and not of good quality.
We had a lovely time in symmonds yat, did lots of walking and can say that this pub is ideally situated with nice rooms but just avoid eating here..

I took my girlfriend for a weekend to the Wye Knot and we had a wonderful time, the room was perfect and the breakfast was amazing with good quality ingredients, really set us up till dinner.
The staff and locals are so friendly, and, unlike a lot of places, really want to make you feel at home. They organised our canoe trip, a must do activity on the river Wye, and the Sunday quiz was a real laugh. Sunday lunch was superb, tender beef, homemade yorkies and proper gravy. We have already booked forthe Autumn and can't wait to return. Thanks alot guys.

Room Tip: The double room at the front is great for a romantic break!

Actually i was in the pub at the time when these troublemakers were in and all they did was try to cause problems. They said "we repeatedly asked to speak to somebody to complain (4 times but nobody was willing to talk to us" infact the manager went in 4 times to ask if everything was okay but they kept quiet. They also said something about the lamb chop being bigger than the 14oz T bone steak well i would hate to think what kind of sheep they're looking at.
When our family went in to the pub for the first time the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was great and we very much enjoyed our time. We will definetly be coming back! Thankyou.

A fab pub and B&B in a beautiful location. The owners are absolutely lovely, so welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Spotlessly clean and comfortable ensuite accommodation. Delicious home cooked food and nice beers, hearty well cooked breakfast. I would definitely recommend the Wye Knot for a meal, just drinks or an overnight stay.

Room Tip: Beautiful views from rooms overlooking the front of the pub.

We went for food here on the saturday of the bank holiday weekend. We were NOT impressed to say the least. We were a party of 10 and some of us ordered the mixed grill for £13.95. What a disappointment. This comprised of 1 sausage, a small lamb chop, a very small piece of gammon and a smaller piece of steak, with this a few frozen chips a very small salad. My friend ordered a 14oz T bone steak? I've seen bigger lamb chops!!! We repeatedly asked to speak to somebody to complain (4 times), but nobody was willing to talk to us.
On the Sunday two of our party went back to complain because they actually paid twice by mistake, but they were met by a very aggressive and irate woman. To say the least will never visit this place again!!!

It never ceases to surprise me how many hotels and Inns in rural locations either have a very unfriendly attitude to dogs or charge a small fortune for allowing a dog to share your room. Anyway one of the key reasons for choosing this B&B was their positive response when I said we had an ageing staffy in tow. They have dogs of their own which helps.
Anyhow, the accommodation was good and the breakfasts substantial - a good excuse to forgo the dreadful cholesterol free diet I'm supposed to be following at the moment. Also had some great real ales on tap - the Butty Bach was excellent.
Really helpful advice was on hand and when we returned from a trip to the 3 Choirs Vineyard near Ledbury (recommended), a bucket of ice and glasses were laid on so that we could enjoy a bottle of chilled white - nice touch.
One drawback, if you are a sun worshipper and were staying this side of the river, is the fact that the opposite bank tends to get most of the sunshine as far as I can tell but, as most people are likely to be using the Wye Knot as a base, this is of little importance.

Room Tip: There are only 3 smallish rooms so no need to ask.
