As two beginner canoeists we had a great day on the river, feeling safe in good canoes and with plenty of guides and support should we have needed it.
Orienteering was fun and all instructions clearly laid out and easy to follow.
All the crew were friendly and helpful.
Definitely recommended .

Thank Pauline M

Stuart organised a fantastic weekend for us (party of 12).

Having never been there, he suggested a full itinerary, with overnight stops, eating recommendations and evening entertainment.

When we had all arrived (extra points for putting us with a bit of a rabble!), we were taken to the drop off point, and paddled down to Ross, where we moored as told and enjoyed a few refreshments in the White Lion. After an evening in Ross at a superb curry house (as recommended by Stuart), off again the next morning. back down to Symonds Yat and an organised tour of a local cider farm (recommended). Back to the Ferrie inn (which again i can thoroughly recommend) for the evening meal, beers and the bunkhouse before departing Sunday morning.

Stuart and the team couldnt have be more helpful, both in advance with the planning and through the actual weekend. I would highly recommend them (and the area) and all 12 of us agreed that we would certainly try and go back.

If you want to canoe/kayak down the Wye valley, i would not look any further than Wye Canoes.

We came to Wye Canoes as my Mum had bought a Groupon for a guided canoe session and orienteering. I'll point out here that I'm by no means someone who regularly exercises and I coped fine with the days' activities. I did sleep pretty well though!

We spent the morning canoeing down the river Wye and despite us not ever canoeing before the instructors were helpful and got us on our way in no time. Canoeing was relaxing with some lovely wildlife to be seen.

Orienteering was also good fun. The route was semi-challenging in places given the wet weather, but nothing too much to worry about.

All in-all would recommend at the deal price certainly. A great day out. Thanks Stuart and the team!

We didn't have the greatest weather but despite that it was a really great day. We are complete novices but the canoes felt very safe and we were well looked after. The river and surroundings were quite beautiful and Stuart and his crew were very friendly. The orienteering in the afternoon rounded off a very satisfying experience.

I had a fantastic day canoeing on the River Wye in the morning and then orienteering in the afternoon. This day is not for the un-fit which should be quite obvious as in order to paddle and then walk amongst forestry uphill and downhill - it requires a certain level of health, fitness and motivation. The canoeing is beautiful along the Wye. We saw ducks, swans, lots of partridge and peregrine falcons. After lunch - you pay in the pub or bring a packed lunch, we went orienteering in the forest. The map is not difficult to read however, the fun is in searching for the next marker. Obviously things cannot be too easy otherwise it would not be any fun. I suggest to bring clothes suitable for the climate but it can change and you are able to take a bag with you when canoeing as you are given a dry drum. There is an element of waiting around at times - as of course it involves the general public whom are often on holiday and not always on time, that's life. I am giving 5 stars as I enjoyed myself so much and met some nice people. Staff are approachable, hard working and very knowledgeable on the area and activities on hand. Great day! Thanks Guys, Louise.
