“Ten out of ten, brilliant!”
Reviewed 23 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Great location, professionally managed, comprehensively and thoughtfully equipped with a wonderful landlady. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to explore the area and is ideal for young families, it was perfect for us & our 2 children aged 10 & 9. The cottage is right at the very heart of Symonds Yat (west) and is literally 100 metres from the Saracens Head pub hand ferry. The Brecon Beacons are also close enough for a day trip. Its comfortable, clean, very quiet, with very comfortable mattresses, the internet is quick, and its well equipped with everything you need for self catering. Helpfully a whole host of everyday items were included.......detergent, laundry powder, cling film, foil, OS Maps, information about the local area etc.
The instructions were concise, you can arrive in antisocial hours due to the keys being left in a safe. The lovely market town of Monmouth is 10 minutes away and has everything you need, supermarket, butchers, delicatessen, pubs, cafes etc.
We canoed, cycled, walked, visited the National Show Caves, climbed Pen y fan in the Brecon Beacons etc. We highly recommend it!

“Lovely stay in a lovely cottage”
Reviewed 10 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We had a lovely week based here in a quiet location. Very easy dealing with Justine for the booking, excellent information booklet and key access on arrival.

Cottage very well equipped, clean and very comfortable. This is the best equipped cottage we have stayed in as yet; even a jar opener! Excellent amount of information pamphlets. Rear courtyard not very sunny, but room out front for a sit and coffee to take in the great views. Good parking for two cars, road to cottage very narrow.

Ferry to Symonds Yat East just a short walk down the hill, bridge only mile and a quarter way. A good circular walk from ferry to Yat rock, to the bridge and back.
3 good local pubs within a short walk/ferry ride. Tea rooms worth a visit using ferry.
Canoe the Wye, canoe hire a short walk away. If you do venture to the Wye Knot inn or the Old Ferry inn, don't walk on the main road as it is very hilly and tiring! Walk down to the ferry point and continue walking and you will be on a level road and come out at the Old ferry inn.

Good base to explore; Ross-on-Wye, Chepstow castle, Tintern Abbey (amazing), Monmouth, Puzzlewood, canoeing the Wye and walks/walking up Symonds Yat rock. We really enjoyed Dewstow gardens/grottos near Chepstow worth a visit.

We would certainly book Sues cottage again.

“Stunning ”

Stunning views, quaint cottage yet had everything we needed. Real thought and care went into attention to detail, all the household things you need are provided like washing liquid, powder, etc. Even some chocolates waiting for us! Really beautiful part of the world, so much you can do without using the car, loads of nice pubs in area that are family friendly and serve quality food. We really hope to be able to go again soon!

From the moment the high quality brochure and little stamped gift envelope with discount tickets for local restaurants, I knew this cottage was owned by someone who took great pride and pleasure out of delighting her guests, and we were not disappointed on arrival!
A lovely cottage, in a perfect setting, overlooking the river and close to the pull ferry taking you across it.

The cottage is warm and cosy. It also has every conceivable gadget you can ever imagine, more than I have even at home and all designed for guests complete comfort and convenience.

From the surprise little chocolate welcome pack, to the toiletries in the bedrooms and bathroom, everything has been designed to make guests stay a 5* experience.

I cannot recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back.
