“Nice to stop and look”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

We have passed the barracks many times and never stopped to take a look. We did this year, and will do again. Better signage would help to find it though.

“Historical”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

Misty morning when we visited so it gave the Barracks a magical aura. After climbing the rather steep hill we were surpried to see we could enter without having to pay anything. Such an interesting site and a lot of information boards so it was easy to imagine how it looked when it was in use. Well worth a vistit if you are in the area.

Majestic setting, lots of historical information, easy access and stunning views, close to Newtonmore short car trip but well worth going there.

“A MARVELOUS PIECE OF HISTORY”
Reviewed 4 October 2013

What a stunning location! With the Grampian Mountains as the back drop you would be hard pushed to get a better view. You get the feeling it is all unchanged for hundreds of years.

“Interesting visit to a part of Scotland's history”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

I first visited the Barracks many years ago when it was very much less well-known. Now it is maintained by Historic Scotland (I think!) and there are boards providing the history of the barracks together with plaques naming the various parts and what they were used for.
Admission is completely free and there is ample parking.
