“Spotless house, welcoming and extremly helpful host”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2011

I am on a 15 day hiking holiday, of which the first 5 was spent in Newtonmore. I did not really know what to expect as I am rather new to B&Bs.

The host (Amanda) was extremely welcoming, ready with a well organised information pack about Newtonmore. She is obvisouly experienced in catering for the outdoor types as a printed weather report was offered each morning along with an optional route card.

The breakfast was prompt each morning and was done to a high standard (e.g. the sausages were especially nice and decisively not from the "value" range), complete with a large pot of tea and a selection of home made jams.

I am usually quite picky when it comes to rooms, however I was pleasantly suprised at the standard of cleanliness. The furnature were also evidently well looked after.

On the whole, a very organised and wecloming B&B; a particular must for hikers!

Just outside this cute little Highland town Larick House B & B.was where we stayed. Thankfully for only one night. Owner was rude and bordered on open hostility. We arrived an hour later than planned and were quickly and firmly rebuked as misbehaving children.
Forget your excuses she isn't interested.
Only thing missing was the crunch of jackboots along the hallway of this place.
Cheap furnishings abounded as did the continuing sullen and reproachful manner of the gal who ran this Stalag B &B.
Trying to sleep in a room with little heating except hot water and paper thin walls made the experience worse.Bathrooms were small and tacky.Bed creaked and groaned. Hand me down furniture and curtains by the looks of it.
Breakfast the next morning was insispid and lukewarm. Thankfully the remainder of our two weeks in this beautiful country was most enjoyable . First and last time I'll ever be in Larick Bed and Breakfast!!!
