Arriving from a long trip, this motel welcomes you very friendly. Plenty of free parking at the back of this motel.
Separated from the restaurant all rooms are located in an other part of this motel.
Good and very clean room, some what outdated.
Breakfast was served by friendly personnel, and there was a good choice. A full cooked breakfast was complete, including haggis. You should try it, I'm still alive to write this review! ;-)
Evening meals available at reasonable prices, good choice of drinks.

Room Tip: All rooms are in a separated part of the motel, easy access.

We booked through a 5pm deal, and we were delighted with what we saw and got for our money.
Although the shared areas' decor resembled more of a retirement home, and the bathrooms in the rooms were basic and perhaps a little dated, the hotel and rooms were spotless and very well laid out.

Although that sounds like a criticism, the decor didn't bother us, as we were looking for a cozy hotel in the highlands, and that's exactly what we got. If you are looking for somewhere with all the mod-cons and sparkling shiny marble everywhere, it probably isn't for you, but if you like quiet, quaint, lovely surroundings, it's perfect!

The food was delicious and great value (restaurant set menu and bar food), the drinks prices very reasonable considering the remote and tourist heavy location, and the staff were very friendly.
There was a lovely little beer garden which we were lucky enough to get good weather to enjoy.
Overall we had a great stay, would be more than happy to go back, and would highly recommend it.

I stayed here one night. My room had everything required, although in common with the rest of the hotel it looked a bit "tired". The evening meal was of average quality, as was the breakfast. The hotel is good value for the area and benefits from a very efficient online booking system.

We were surprised after reading some of the reviews on the Highlander how well we were looked after at the Highlander. It was not the Ritz but for the price paid for our trip we did not expect that. The bedroom was comfortable, the food good and the staff pleasant and helpful The only down thing because I am a real ale fan was the lack of good beer. It was however explained that they do not normally have a great demand they could not stock real ale. Overall though the hotel was good as a stop over for a trip that we enjoyed.

Having stayed for 3 nights, it was adequate, room basic with twin beds(very squeaky when sat on) the tv was freeview , but channels weren't very good. Bathroom was large but only had smallish walk in shower. Taps on sink were difficult to use, toilet took an age to refil and you could hear when rm next door flushed too! Be warned no lift or ramp to rooms had to climb approx 10 stairs to access rooms. Set breakfast and dinner extremely(although choice of starter and main) and dessert is from trolly. Staff don't like you asking for something extra or different from set menu, they seem frightened to get things for you, saying that they are very friendly. Hotel is isolated, so not much to do in evenings

We had a good experience in this quaint resort like hotel in a small village. The rooms were nice & so were the bathrooms though the shower area was small. Beware of the heated towel rods - they can be very unpleasant to touch. Nothing nearby really - it is a 15 min walk to the village. Green & pleasant surroundings. Free wi fi in the lounge. The quality of food was good. Dinner & breakfast were both sit - down with a set menu. However, asking for an extra bread roll also raises eyebrows with the staff. We had live musical entertainment in the dining room during dinner which was very nice.

My wife and I took our 6 year old daughter to the Highlander Hotel after seeing an offer on 5pm.co.uk. The hotel is situated 20mins from the Landmark Forrest park which is brilliant for kids and the Highland Folk museum in Newtonmore is worth a visit. The staff at the hotel were brilliant, very friendly and helpful and with Eric and Cynthia making time for my daughter, and the service was great too. We had a family room which had a double and single bed in it and still had room to move about in. The hotel could do with some updating but not to much as this added to the quaintness! The food was really good and the bar wasn't to badly priced (£3ish a drink). Unfortunately, we had to leave a little early as my baby son decided to arrive 2 weeks early! Looking forward to heading back
