Stayed on a Saturday night through a groupon deal with my partner and daughter and have to say we had a lovely stay, food and accommodation were well above what we expected (due to what we paid) and would highly recommend this hotel. Bar prices were good as well and free wifi in the lounge for the kids too

We stayed at this hotel using a Groupon voucher for 2 nights with dinner on the 1st night and a bottle of bubbly in the room - I wish we hadn't bothered. On arrival, I was instantly reminded of a 1970s style motel, driving between the reception and the accommodation to the the car park which was so full of potholes, I was glad we were in a 4x4.
The first impressions did not improve on entering the accommodation block - it was more like entering a boys gym - the carpet was covered in mud and grass and the corridor stank of B.O. Our bedroom was dated with a flowery carpet and an abundance of cream formica and brown plywood. The large bathroom with its ill fitting lino housed a mismatched bathroom suite including a tiny shower cabinet huddled in the corner rather than a bath (There was no shower gel in the dispenser in the shower and if you drop the soap it's easier to get out to pick it up....). The bed was hard and lumpy and the pillows were more like bricks. The walls were so thin that I could follow the conversation of the couple in the next room. The 'bubbly' supplied was a bottle of cheap sweet perry.
Things did not improve at meal time with Frank Sinatra on a constant loop in the bar and dining room (fine the first time round, but after the fourth loop it gets a bit wearing). The staff were friendly and polite, but over efficient with empty plates whisked away while still chewing the final mouthful and the next course placed down less than a minute later. At breakfast the next morning, the red wine and gravy drips evidenced that the table cloth had not been changed since the evening before.
Even at a bargain price, my advice would be to avoid this place.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

I was disappointed to read your view and feel that you are unfair with some of your comments but everyone is entitled to their own thoughts. We have many people who are repeat guests with us and it is a shame that you don't feel the same. For your information the hotel is currently on the first phase of bathroom refurbishments and we are due to have a 100 tonne delivery of chips for the car park in the coming weeks.

Just returned from 3 night ski break 17th March 2014 having stayed at the above hotel room number 54 which was a nice clean tidy room with lovely bathroom and only moan would be lack of water power to shower because that would be my only quip.
We stayed bed breakfast and evening meal and found the food to be very good and fair selection on evening menu so no complaints here.
The best part of the hotel for myself and family would have to be the staff who where top draw and credit to the hotel excellent well done.
Also many thanks to ski team for there help and advice many thanks to Barbara and Graham well done.
Hope to see you all next year or near future
Mark, Julie & Samantha

Room Tip: We stayed in rear of hotel which was excellent

When you arrive the first impressions last. Signage was blocked by numerous vehicles parked both side of the reception area. The car park was full of potholes. The property was from an era when there was a winter of discontent in Britain. The bedroom remained in that era. The brown plywood door had been punched/palmed and the dent remained. TEN POUNDS WOULD HAVE SECURED A NEW PANEL. The tiling was beyond description. The main waste pipe was self evident. However the same could be said of the grout on the tiling......black. Best of all was the original plastic moulding as a vanity !!!!!! The menu for dinner....was limited...the food edible, but only just. Non nutritional storage would be a fair description. Breakfast was an experience. No menu. Orange juice on the table. Minimalistic.A disgrace for 2014.Oxford Inns should be suitably embarrassed to offer this standard of establishment. Nice staff. Dinner is a 100metre dash.......32 minutes for a three course meal .....with coffee, a sure course to indigestion. Nice lounge. Knock it down and start again......with 2014 amenities, which this part of the country deserves.

Room Tip: Don't go.

Sorry we did not meet your expectations - we have discussed your commets with my maintenance manager and restaurant supervisor. We are due have the car park rectified and chipped in the next couple of weeks and we are currently undergoing a bathroom refurbishment. Perhaps if you make a return visit, as many people do, you will see the ongoing improvements

We stayed in this hotel after finding an excellent deal on GroupOn to stay for two nights with the first night's dinner included and a bottle of wine in the room upon arrival. The décor of the hotel is very dated and the menus, both at breakfast and dinner, were very basic and traditional, but that's very much the style of the place. It's in a very convenient location for roaming 'round the Cairngorms and northern Perthshire. Most importantly of all for me, the bedroom and bathroom were spacious and impeccably clean. I'd recommend the Highlander for a budget stay in the area for couples or a group of friends willing to make their own entertainment (no excuse - even if you don't have a car, the local railway station is a short walk away).

My wife and I were booked into this hotel by Ski Norwest who have their base here. From our arrival to departure we were treated with the utmost courtesy by the friendly staff who make it their absolute priority to give you an enjoyable stay. This is a great value package..very popular too with coach charter companies, indeed the hotel was busy with happy pensioners who added to our enjoyment.Unexpectedly,we had live entertainment for two nights (super) and yet there is a quiet lounge, should you wish to relax with you drinks and chat ...all in all an allround hugely pleasant break..and yes, we will be returning !

Room Tip: ..we were advised that some rooms have been refurbished..nuff said

Myself and three friends stayed here for weekend of skiing. Hotel decor is a little dated, but I think this adds to the charm of the place. Rooms are spacious and clean with comfortable beds. Food is good hearty food just what you want after a day of skiing. Staff are very pleasant and helpfull. This hotel is good value for money.
