This was our 2nd visit during 2005 (April & August) and was definitely the best B & B we have ever stayed in. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home immediately.

The house was surperb, bedrooms tastefully decorated and the scenery from the bedrooms breathtaking, especially when snow is on the mountains.

Home made biscuits on arrival were delicious and breakfast leisurely and plentiful.

It is ideally situated to explore the Grampian mountains and Highlands area. It is possible to have a leisurely drive to John O'Groats and back in a day (we have done this).

The Capercaillie Restaurant in Newtownmore is definately worth a visit.

Have noticed that this B & B is now in the process of being sold.
Pity as Shirlie & Chris are wonderful people. Hope the new owners continue this as a B & B and that the standards do not drop.

Stayed here last night and it was superb. It you want proper Scottish hospitality, this is the place to come to. The owner was friendly, showed us to the wonderful Larches room. It was a very spacious, beautifully decorated room that had a welcome tray waiting for us, with homemade biscuits, shortbread, freshly ground coffee, various teas and there was a tiny little fridge with a jug of milk in it. There was also fresh fruit and various other little extras.
The room, bedding and en-suite were absolutely spotless. There was Sky TV., Cd and Dvd player. We had a cosy settee and big armchair. What more could you want? It is set in an ideal location, within walking distance to the main street.
The breakfast is between 8.00 and 9.00am. Lovely choice of freshly cooked food and various healthy options as well as the traditional.
This has to be one of the best places we have stayed and we wished we could have stayed longer. Would recommend this to anyone. Fabulous.........

This is a lovely old mansion on the outskirts of Newtonmore, and has been stylishly modernised into a 4* guest house. Our room (The Larches) was king size and immaculate. When we arrived home made biscuits were waiting on the hospitality tray.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet, relaxing and peaceful. We would recommend their packed lunches. The owners provide a list of restaurants etc in the locality which is useful.

It's about 5 minutes walk to the centre of Newtonmore, set back off the Fort William road so there was no traffic noise.

We paid £70 a night for a king size room B&B, and smaller ones are £50 so it's reasonably priced. There are 6 rooms.

The cast of 'Monarch of the Glen' used it as their base during filming for 2 years.

Having stayed at some very disappointing places in rural Scotland, we were delighted to find somewhere so comfortable.

This B&B is first-class from the moment you pull into the driveway. The hosts are warm, considerate and hospitable. The house is cozy, inviting and tastefully decorated. The rooms are large and have magnificent views. Breakfast was a real treat as well. If you're staying in the Highlands make sure you check this place out. We stayed for one night and we've already booked two more separate trips there this summer--it's that great of a place.

We highly recommend this B&B, which is by far the best we have ever been in and was good value for money. The hosts were very warm and friendly. The bedroom, in which we stayed, was of a very high standard (bath and shower in the bathroom, CD and DVD players with DVDs and CDs). The whole house was very cosy and tastefully decorated. We also succombed because of the delicious home made cookies awaiting us in the room!!
