“Perfect stay in warm house”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

We had the pleasure to share the Hazel house for three nights with friends. We was on a trip to discover the highlands and the location of the house was perfect to go East, North and West. Moreover the house was perfect we liked the lighting a fired, playing games in the warm living room and enjoying the garden with the little tarn and the funny ducks.

I recommend for family or friendship trips !

My partner and i had a lovely time. We spent Early May Bank Holiday (Fri-Mon) and we had the easiest drive on a friday afternoon up there from Manchester. Log burning Fire, fully equipped, self contained cottage with everything you might need. Electricity is extra so dont forget to enquire on arrival. We loved the fact we didnt have to meet and greet, not that we are anti social, we just really wanted a no fuss break and as it was late when we arrived we just wanted to hit the sack. There is loads of information available ie tours, maps, car/bike/quad/boat hire, restaurant recommendations etc etc.. We have decided this is our little home from home. Had a wonderful time.

Room Tip: We stayed in the birch cottage. Lovely, log burning fire and stunning views.

Just spent another wee break in Ash last weekend - brilliant as usual! As soon as we see the cottages, we start to relax, that includes the dog! Great value for money, great views, easy reach to walks, skiing, eating-out, great for chilling-out inside too!
Back for a week in July, canny wait.

So quiet, relaxing and everything that you could need including the wood burning stove. Close to fantastic scenery and wonderful places to visit just a stone throw away. Truly a cottage to stay a again and again. We have stayed in Cedar and Douglas Fir, both of equal high quality. Great for couples, families and the four legged friends. It's such a wonderful place we have now had three visits in twelve months.

Really cosy, well equipped, okay comfort re.beds, clean, log-stove fire.
Not a great hot water system though even with boost-switch on.
Did not result in enough hot water even for dishes after the defined 60 mins.
Pre-paid electric meter, >£10 over 66hours seems expensive, with only some lighting & very few heaters on, even then not one for > 3hours; apart from the water heater.
However great location.
Our group of 4 walked every day, starting with a 2.5 hour forest-tracks + viewpoint climb after our arrival at 4pm on the Friday.
Good sized fridge for food & drinks, did not use the freezer apart from taking some of the donated ice cubes. We overlooked the little Loch, saw duckling & both parents + healthy looking pheasant

Room Tip: Bedrooms in the 4 person unit that we choose, were on the 1st floor, stairs not to steep or difficul...

We had a fantastic stay at these wonderful holiday cottages, very comfortable, well equipped and feel high end. Great location for biking, walking and activities around Aviemore, we had amazing weather but had it been raining there were indoor activities catered for in and around the holiday cottages. Would be great location to take young families with a safe outdoor space. We'd also like to come and book out the cottages with other groups of friends.

After reading all the positive reviews on Trip Advisor for the Highland Cottages, we thought this would be the perfect Scottish retreat. We were not disappointed.

The Larch cottage was welcoming, cosy and clean. It was also incredibly spacious just for us two. We made the most out of the wood burning stove and the fully fitted kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had both shower and bath, a nice surprise with a self-catered home. The only downside to the cottage was the lack of condiments supplied. We have made a note to the owners and hopefully in the future they will provide some for a basic start up.
Crubenbeg has endless mountains, fields, streams and waterfalls. As city folk this was a little bit of a fairy tale! The town Newtonmore is 3 miles from the cottages and has a small selection of places to eat, a Co-op and train station. The cottage also offers bikes and fishing gear so you’ll have plenty of things to do!

Cameron and Sian were very accommodating and are such lovely people. As we didn’t bring a car, they were happy to pick us and take us to the station which was greatly appreciated with our heavy bags. We never felt left in the dark and everything was a breeze.

So whether you are looking for a peaceful or an adventurous holiday, we give Highland Holiday Cottages a definite five stars.
