“Excellent B&B”
Reviewed 20 July 2013

We have stayed for 2 nights at this lovely b&b. Room was perfect, breakfast excellent. Thanks to Moira we have made an amazing trip through the Highlands. So close to Newtonmore, in a walking distance of just 15 minutes, you can explore the real wilderness of Scotland. No tourists just locals. We walked the whole day and met just one person and her dog. Newtonmore is perfect to explore The Highlands and don't forget the the little shops like The Harris Tweed Highland Shop and restaurant The Letterbox. We travelled by train to Newtonmore and everything was in walking distance. A lot of thanks to Moira and her team!!

Nicely decorated although the bathroom was starting to show its age.Very comfortable bed.We chose the downstairs room as it was cooler and you have the use of a lounge.Ate at the Glen Hotel which was basic but friendly. The road passing the guest house was very busy as the traffic had been diverted because of an accident on the A9.Breakfast could have been better, not a nice quality sausage, bacon or bread.

This little B&B in Newtonmore is beautifully decorated, and he host gave us a friendly welcome when we arrived. We paid £80 for a double room with a bath, the bath itself was lovely but we found some rubbish behind it when we arrived, and there were some spots on the towels - a little disappointing but other than that the room was spotless. The views around the town are beautiful. We visited the Glen hotel to eat but left as we didn't feel comfortable. We ended up getting fish and chips from the next town over, but the other guests told us that the letterbox restaurant in the town was excellent. I was woken up at 7am by some speaking downstairs and wanted a lie in, but that was perhaps due to the positioning of our room. There is only one breakfast table and we enjoyed talking to the other guests in the morning. The breakfast itself was ok, but the egg tasted slightly odd. There is lots of choice for breakfast - including salmon! Moira was a lovely host and the whole experience as good, but I'm sad to say that we have payed less for B&B's in the same area which were much nicer.

My husband and I fully enjoyed our recet two-night stay at the Eagle View Guest House. This is a very small and quiet town, but there is plenty to do if you are willing to put some effort in! And you do need a car.
We were very happy with this B&B, especially due to Moira's warm welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she is happy to chat and tell stories about the area etc. We liked the breakfast arrangement very much as we enjoy talking to other guests. (Delicious breakfast too.)
If you go to Newtonmore you should plan and book your dinner(s) as there are few options and they do get full up. We enjoyed The Letterbox very much (a few minutes walk).
Our only disappointment was that our lovely room and en suite bathroom had only a bathtub, no shower. This is stated on the website but I overlooked it. We do greatly prefer showers so this was a bit of a bummer for us.

Room and bathroom were clean and lovely. The view from the window was nice and appropriate for the name of the place. The owner was sweet and helpful too. I enjoyed walking around the village. One of these reviewers said that it was a "ghost town," but it's just a really small and quiet place. The surroundings shouldn't negatively affect the review of the inn though-- that's a bit irrelevant.

stayed with my partner in may, carnt say i was impressed, this is a ghost town to say the least, only place to get something to eat is at the nearby hotel which you have got to book through the day because all the tables are reserved on a night. The guest house was lovely and clean and the host was nice, bedroom lovely, but we didnt like the breakfast arrangment as it is one big dining table were you have got to sit with total strangers which is a bit uncomftable, at the end of the day we are not family sitting around the table like you would at home. The breakfast was just ok (cheap sausage) and the coffee in the rooms was horrible, get some nescafe!. anyway we only stayed 1 night instead of 2 because we were that bored because weather was freezing and it was hot in newcastle.

Fabulous place! The room was very comfortable, lovely big bed. We stayed in room 4 which had a slipper bath. Breakfast was delicious, good choice from a full cooked to just a poached egg on toast if you preferred. Would definitely recommend and return whenever we were in the Newtonmore area again. Thanks to Moira and John for our relaxing break in the Highlands.
