Everything - this is a wonderful friendly place, with so much to offer. Many parts have old fashioned charm and others have the modern slick approaches - and they work together well to ensure you have a great experience - there is something for everyone.

we often travel into central otago, be it for walking, biking or fishing it is ideal. The wonderful lakes and awesome countryside are like nowhere else in the world and with excellent places to stay and eat and drink, especially the wines of central otago, a visit is highly recommended

Feels like the South Island's best kept secret. The weather was perfect. The family of seven of us from 13 years to 50+ years and two large dogs headed to the lake. We found a nice place where we could park up and picnic on the beach and the men brought the boat around to us. All those that wanted to had a go at either water skiing or just being thrown around on the biscuit. The neighbouring swimmers and families were friendly and much fun was had by all. We then went home to a home cooked Christmas dinner in the cooler evening temperatures. We are lucky because we live here but family came from Christchurch and Invercargill and all thought it was a good place to come for a family holiday

We stopped in Cromwell briefly looking in desperation for a decent coffee and lunch. Then found ourselves in some sort of 1980's retail horror house of a mall. Eventually found out that there was an "Old town". However it wasn't much better.
Sort of feel it should have been better than it was given the fantastic produce this area is famous for.

The area has so much to offer regardless of weather, some superb wine tasting and food to die for. The local bars and coffee shops are great and the local swimming pool on Cromwell worth a trip for a great swim and hot tub at a very realistic price.
