I was robbed whilst I was asleep in my hotel room on the 05JAN10 at 5.20am. All my valuables were taken away (mainly business related items and all my money). I was at the Hotel Sous Le Badamier where the incident occurred. No Manager or hotel staff was present for me to report the incident - the security guard was sleeping when I woke him up and told him what had happened.
I could not get hold of anyone from the Hotel management till 7.30am (2 hours later) numerous phone calls to mobile phone and home numbers to no avail.
I am a product Manager of a Tour Operator myself and very distressed in how these incidents are dealt with on site. I am appalled by the management’s attitude and lack of support and how guests are treated by the local authorities.
Security was lacking – according to the Tourism Authority the hotel didn’t have adequate security and were warned in September 09 to sign up to a private Rapid Response service.
In short the Hotel failed to provide adequate and secured accommodation and felt that there was neglect on their behalf. I have followed all the instructions given to me by the police but I am unsure if this will be dealt with properly or just swept under the carpet when I fly back home. This could have turned out quite differently if I'd woken up during the raid.

We regret what happened during your stay at Sous le Badamier. We also regret that despite the help and concern of the whole team, we've not been able to make you feel supported.
As the Police forces explained to you after the incident, this unusual robbery happened on the same night when 3 other hotels of the region were visited by a group of burglars.
Contrary to what you say, our security equipments and procedures have always been in line with the requirements of the authorities. As a proof, our licenses are verified every year and we obtained the clearances of all authorities at each control.
This said, like in every country, when you leave the door of your room open when sleeping at night, you do not put yourself in the best security conditions even should the hotel have the best security procedures…
However, as we are very concerned by the security of our guests, we've decided to review our security policies to even accomodate this kind of situation…
We would be very pleased to welcome you again at Sous le Badamier so that you could have a different opinion towards our hospitality.
