“Wonderful weekend at Tembo Kijani!”
Reviewed 30 August 2014

We can't say enough good things about Tembo Kijani and it's owners. The location is beautiful and unspoilt. The Bungalow on the beach was spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. It was a peaceful three nights sleep with the sound of the ocean waves close by. The food is incredible, definitely the best around. The proximity to beautiful and rugged Saadani National Park is so convenient and a safari is a must-do! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks to Sarah, Ayal and Timna!

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with either the Bungalows or the Banda's!

We have been coming to Tanzania for many years and have stayed at a wide range of places. We can honestly say that during the five days we stayed here, Sarah's cooking was the best food we have ever tasted in Tanzania!
The bandas are simple but have everything that you need and it is nice to be surrounded by lush green vegetation. The beach is completely unspoiled and one can walk for miles. We visited Saadani which has beautiful landscapes but cannot compare to some of the bigger parks for animals so visit it and enjoy the environment. We hope that in the future Saadani might offer long walking safaris because this would be perfect.
This is an excellent place to stay if you are looking for a quiet retreat on the beach. Plans are in place to make a comfortable relaxing area near the beach and some sun loungers which will make it perfect!

We loved Tembo Kijani. Sarah was incredibly helpful when we were organising the trip. Eyal, with his passion for the animals and birds, generously went out of his way showing us around the nearby pretty Sadaani park. Whilst Timna, clearly having learnt her parents hospitality skills, hijacked our willing children and took them off on their own adventures. The lodge itself was a haven of peace, beautifully thought out and comfortable, Jojo's food delicious and the evening swims on an empty beach shared only by the crabs a memory to hold on to.

We had a fantastic stay at Tembo Kijani. The food and service was over all expectations, really excellent! The huts are very beautiful and exotic. Allways clean and inviting.
The time spent on safari was an experience for life. We saw lots and lots of animals, even lions and elephants. The safari guide was fantastic - devoted to showing us the park and giving us the best possible experience.
All in all it was an experience for life and we can absolute recommend this place to everybody!

Tembo Kijani is simply an inspirational place to stay - Sarah, Eyal and Jojo have designed and built a truly sympathetic lodge in a remote paradise - the attention to detail from the rooms to the food is faultless. The nearby safari park is quiet and beautiful - with Eyal's passion for the animals we got to see elephants, giraffes, lions and all sorts of other animals and birds - and unlike many other parks we were on our own and not once watched animals with other vehicles. I cannot recommend Kijani enough.

Even though we visited Tembo Kijani for the first time and stayed only for 3 days, the camaraderie and passion of Sarah, Eyal Timna and Yoyo made us feel like we were visting friends. Eyal has probably been on over 300 safaris but he has the passion and energy of a first time visitor coupled with the experience and knowledge of a veteran. The food was excellent. (thanks Yoyo).

Highly recommended to anyone that wants to expereince the wildlife of Tanzania in a secluded unspolied environment

If you are looking for five star solitude in an unspoiled environment, Tembo Kijani is the place to visit! The entire area is sufficiently remote to not be marred by mass tourism. There are miles of empty beaches with swaying palms, beautiful views, and lots of pink ghost crabs and shells. Local fishermen can be seen early morning going out in their dugout canoes and, when not fishing, will take guests snorkelling. A plus point was that there were no hustlers on the beach - what a treat that was. The Saadani Game Reserve is nearby and well worth a visit during your stay at Kijani.

This small Eco lodge, under the nurturing care of owners Eyal and Sarah who created it, will be a favourite for the intrepid traveller. We'd planned to keep it a secret so that it stays just the way it is but felt guilty not sharing. The high standard, the good service and the excellent cuisine were way beyond our expectations.

Many thanks to Sarah, Eyal and Yoyo, the chef, who amazed us at every meal with his gourmet culinary delights. Not to forget Timnah, their adorable 4 year old daughter.
We will be back to Tembo Kijani, that is for sure.
