Cabins were clean, comfortable, and stylish, with excellent views overlooking the Nile. Davide was welcoming and social, and his mother's authentic Italian 3-course meals were an unexpected surprise. Gentle, relaxing atmosphere, with easy access to the park gate. Absolutely worth the price. One of our group forgot a piece of luggage, and Davide tracked us down on the road to return it.

Our stay in Bwana Tembo Safari Camp was really good and we had a wonderful weekend in a great location!

However, it is quite expensive for what you get and I felt as if the owners were trying to pitch it at the high end market without some of the extras that a 4 or 5 star place elsewhere in Uganda might offer. When we've stayed at lodges of similar price, we've been offered a drink on arrival and a snack for example. Here, we asked for a snack and were told there was nothing available - although later given some nuts. Other lodges of similar price have also had larger rooms and had extra touches like candles on the restaurant tables etc too. There was also only one waiter who, whilst lovely, spent his whole time with his head in the kitchen chatting so it was hard to get his attention. I felt with just a little bit more time and investment, this could become even better and perhaps then seem that it is worth the cost in comparison to other lodges in the area. However, I do know that Murchison Falls is expensive anyway so perhaps this is why. We might stay at Red Chilli next time to compare!

The owners were lovely and very helpful, although the lady (the mum?) did smoke constantly even when we were settling up the bill! Their advice around where to drive to see animals and their help booking the boat trip was great though and we were very pleased with this. I did try to enquire about getting a ranger to come with us on safari etc beforehand via email but my questions were never answered directly and, when we arrived, the ranger was already booked up which was a shame.

The location is great - just outside the park so you only have to pay for the days you choose to go on safari. We saw elephants from our decking area and we also happened upon some on the way out which was very exciting!

Finally, one thing that is a shame is the big Transco (?) complex just near the national park and that you pass on the way to the lodge. This is not a criticism of the lodge but just something that's a shame in the park in general - Transco are VERY visible with trucks and drilling areas which did add disappointment to our visit.

During our stay at Bwana Tembo Safari Camp, we received a nice and kind service from Davide and Francesco.
The cottages are fine, made of cement, though. I was actually expecting a more natural design. Taking a shower there after being in murram roads, was the most relaxing experience. The cottages don't have power sockets, however they provide a table in the restaurant where we left all our gadgets to be charged.
Food is good, mostly Italian, so be prepared to have pasta. They even have gluten free pasta!. Take into account that drinks are not included in the full board package.
One of the best things is the location. The lodge is about 10 minutes driving from the main gate of the National Park, so we avoided taking the ferry and driving 45'.

Easily the best accommodation we had during our Ugandan holiday (taking price into considerarion). The only place out of 8 hotels/resorts/guesthouses etc with a good shower- almost as big a plus as the excellent food. Kind people running the place, friendly staff, good rooms and close proximity to Murchison Falls NP don't hurt, either. Forget about the competition, just go there.

Spent an amazing weekend at Bwana Tembo. David welcomed us and took care of us since we got there. A delicious menu is offered with the right quantity on every meal, the whole campus is very clean and always surrounded by some guardians, in case a big animal comes visit the guests.

The views from the campus are beautiful plus you feel surrounded by a nice tranquility, letting behind all of the city noises, being able to hear only the nature sounds and the birds sing.

Also, during our tour inside the park, we got the chance to see many animals and also to learn a lot of them with our very passionate guide (Davide).
