“Great option in a sleepy town”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

I have lived in Durgapur, but, that was in the previous century :-) and my impressions of public services and infrastructure were not very positive so I was wary. I was disappointed that Rose Valley (Previously Ginger and now Park Prime!) did not have online reservation. However things started becoming comfortable as I closed in. Firstly, the response to my mail was good and reservation was confirmed. This sounds a better option now as there is no monetary commitment and hence no cancellation charge ;-) I did confirm, however, the day before my travel to ensure the reservation was on record and I was expected and gave them my tentative arrival. I landed by Volvo at City Center bus junction in the heart of Durgapur and it was great that I could walk with my strolley luggage to the hotel in less than 10 minutes.
With cigarette smoking being much higher than Indian average, i was bothered about the smoke smell, but, was really happy to have a clean fresh room. The vestiges of Ginger were there, but, while the new management has not done any upgrade they make the place comfortable and eminently livable. Soap, shampoo, bed, linen and towels etc were in good order and of a decent quality. AC hummed nicely and was very efficient- an important quality in humid Bengal.
The wifi speed was fantastic! This was a great bonus. I had a great night's sleep.
Next day I was woken up early, as requested. The running hot water was immediate, but, probably because of the old plumbing it would advisable to let the water flow for a few seconds in the sink as it was colored. This is something that the management needs to look into. Finally, the buffet breakfast which began at 7 was a good spread given the price of the hotel.
All in all, given the fact that I paid roughly 1,800 rupees for a night inclusive of the complementary breakfast, I found this one of the best value for money stays anywhere in the country. Given the renewed contacts in Durgapur and excellent travel option in frequent Volvo buses I am sure I would be back sometime and I know a great place to stay. I hope they maintain and better the experience.

It was a great experience to put up a stay at Park Prime Durgapur, the erstwhile Rosevalley hotel at Durgapur. Me and my husband had a three day stay at the place and the experience was overwhelming leaving and compelling us to write a few words here in the column. There are just hand full of places where you do not have anything to complain about and Park Prime is one of them. Starting from the very entrance to the lobby, the lift, the rooms everything was just perfectly clean for a 3 star hotel. The rooms were perfectly made neat, spic and span and the washrooms were clean and spotless. The room-service, the housekeeping and the in-house restaurant was impeccably good. The food was tasty and filling. The location is an added advantage, opposite to Junction Mall, Tanishq store, etc. in the vicinity to entertain.

Durgapur is a very dusty town due to all the industrial activity in the vicinity. However,Rose valley stands out because of the following , first, the location is excellent i.e. right in the midst of city centre area just next to Junction Mall.Second,it has ample car parking space within the complex.Third,This is an erstwhile 'Ginger Hotel' so the basics of a business hotel are in place. The place is very clean and normally well maintained. But they need to work on the following. The complimentary breakfast in the morning needs to be improved, both in terms of quality & choices. Some of the bathrooms have a water leakage issue which needs to be fixed up.The restaurant within the hotel can be avoided as not only are they expensive but also very run of the mill. You have much better options if you step out i.e. McDonalds, Domino, KFC, Junction Food Court,Citi Recidenci,Peerless, etc.

Room Tip: Opt for a Highway Facing room.

I have stayed at Hotel Rose Valley in Durgapur during my annual visits to the place, for the past two years. Its well located, very clean and comfortable rooms. The food is excellent and service very good. it is also right next to a Mall in case you want to send an evening shopping or eating out. The restaurant serves good food and is well managed.

i am looking forward to my next trip to Durgapur in September this year and for sure I will stay at Rose Valley.

Had put up there for a night in March'14 on a official tour. It has the best location in Durgapur-7 Kms for the railway station, 1 Km from the bus stand( volvos leave from here for Kolkata) and in the heart of Durgapur i.e Citi Centre. The rooms are immaculately clean and comfortable with all the basic amenities including a mini refrigerator.Service was a bit delayed but the food was absolutely yummy. The complimentary breakfast had a lot of variety. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this property for prospective guests.
Travel desk was a letdown though as the charges were unreasonable.

Room Tip: Rooms facing NH2 are having the best views.

I stayed at this hotel last weekend. Its a good hotel with decent rooms and helpful staff. The hotel is located centrally near City Center and next to Junction Mall, thus ideally suited for accessing public transport. The only hitch is that they have a 12 PM check in checkout rule although the staff relaxed the rule for me while checking in when I reached there at 10 AM. Suitable if you are down for corporate meetings or a quick stay.

Overall it is a good hotel. Breakfast is ok. rooms are not at per rose valley standard. Being a frequent traveler to Durgapur I stayed 6-7 times in this hotel. Last couple of times I wanted to book the room by sending email and through phone. Surprisingly they every time they said that no rooms available. And all the times I then booked room through 'www.makemytrip.com'' and got confirmed booking.

Room Tip: Single rooms are too small. I will prefer the double bedded room only.
