Good & not expensive restaurant with the possibility to see the ocean from rocks while your dish is being cooked.

Had a dinner one day at Blow Hole and was surprised with Czech menu. The food is nothing special but valuable for money.

Restaurant is covered by trees so it's not easy to find it. Price is very democratic. Beautiful view to the sunset is included :)

Go to the west (Temple) end of the beach, by the new breakwater. Cross to the other side of the canal, and it's about 50 metres along the jungle road, on your left. It's small, clean and welcoming.

The guy who runs front-of-house gets rushed off his feet, sometimes - particularly when beer is called for, as it's brought ice-cold fresh (from who knows where) to order. His wife runs the kitchen, with help from granny and daughter when busy. It's all cooked fresh to order, so don't be in a rush (remember the ice-cold Lion?). There's a good menu: we haven't tried pizzas yet, but the Germans who did last night seemed to enjoy theirs. The salad that came with my delicately grilled calamari was one of the biggest and tastiest I've come across in Unawatuna this year. Sadly, no-one seems to do hand-cut chips here any more - economics, I suspect.

Breakfast was a treat - a large fruit platter, extra toast (hand sliced, beautifully pale brown, rather than the anaemic waved-over-a-match so often offered, and offers of extra butter, jam, tea, toast freely made.

AND IT's PRETTY WELL THE CHEAPEST place in Unawatuna.Don't be put off by the hunt - the food (not forgetting the ice-cold etc.) makes it well worth while.
