Its a smallish resort. The beach in front of the resort is not very nice and is full of reefs. The rooms are very big and clean but the Air conditioner wasn't working. The bathroom door was also broken. On pointing out our room was changed, but then we went in a low season. I am not sure if you would have that luxury during high seasons. We requested the room service to clean the room when we left the resort for some sightseeing. But they had not done anything except making the bed. The bathroom was as we had left it and teh sheets and pillow covers were not changed.
Note that there are no restaurants close by so you have no choice but to shell out 200 LKrs to go to Unawatuna beach. The bus stop is few meters away from the hotel. the manager is a helpful guy.

The room of this hotel was quite good, spacious and comfortable compare to what I was expecting. The hotel is right in front of the ocean but not really a good beach in front to take a deep and have a good swim. It is rocky/corals beach with big waves though. Only limited things are provided in the room like a towel and soap but there is a TV too with single channel which can be changed as per your request but then all have to view the same channel. Bit disturbing by traffic noice as the main Galle-Matara road is just behind the hotel. All rooms faces the sea but the there is no great view from hotel (except 1st floor).

There is a restaurant which is very basic and doesn’t even looks like a good running restaurant. If you want to eat, please order in advance so they can cook for you. The food was still good and most importantly, there are number of choices to select from. The staff are friendly and specially Mr. Prijanthan (I guess)….who speaks good English and was very helpful. Besides this, there is nothing that adds value of living there…..compare to the cost I paid, I would prefer other location, closer to town or main Unawatuna beach or even inside the Galle fort area. The so called free WiFi is hopeless there and I couldn’t use it at all….as it was extremely slow and hard to connect. The hotel claims on Agoda that it has a garden, safety deposit box, water sports, bicycle rental etc….but I didn’t see any traces of such facilities. The distance is also around 6 km from the Galle town ( not 1 km as they claim on Agoda.com) but good thing is that you can take a bus right behind the hotel (a bus stand is there).

Room Tip: Rooms at 1st floor

I am a tour leader and this place was the first one where we stayed and they were welcoming. It was a quiet place, very secure and the experience of a sri lankan cooking class was a great time. Thank you to all the staff of this friendly hotel. The manager is a very good man too!

We booked this hotel because I needed to do something for my job and were looking for a hotel with wi-fi. Well, wi-fi did not work half of the time, the second half it was useless, since it was slower than dial-up speed.

Second, in bathroom (sink), we found hair, even pubic hair.

Third, towels were old, dirty and torn on edges. We asked for fresh towels and got pretty much the same quality - smelling of mold.

Last, but not least, the cuttlery for breakfast was dirty - not a good feeling when you're about to eat!

The only positive things were the friendly staff and nicely arranged frontyard.

I was in Dallawella Beach Resort during early June 2012. It was a pretty decent hotel by the beach and the prices are very reasonable (way cheaper than hotels in Colombo, the capital) .The staff was very polite and their service was excellent. What is more, I have to mention the wooden cabana just by the beach. I highly recommend it to any one who wants to experience the unique charm of shimmering ocean just outside your door. The restaurant has always served excellent food (should try the sri lankan MILK RICE). Over all, It may be bit difficult to reserve the cabana since they only have one, but it is definitely worth it.

Room Tip: Go for the cabana

We have been staying at The Dalawella Resort for two nights, we booked for four and have decided to stay longer. It is very quiet and the beach is beautiful. Other visitors are saying that the hotels in Galle are much more expensive and no where near as beautiful. The rooms are simple but clean, the beach cabana is very pretty, nice big shower room and nice and clean. Could do with a few more sun beds but ten minutes walk down the beach there are more on offer and a swim safe Laguna. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here if you are on a medium budget and want to be right by the sea. As we sit on our balcony you can see turtles swimming in the sea in front of you. Beautiful and such a breath of fresh air after e travelling around India for a couple of months. The staff are very friendly, smiling all the time and so helpful serving breakfast to us way past the cut off time as we slept in....

Room Tip: There is only one cabana if you want simple log style cabin with the sea right in front of you so bo...
