Sea View Guest House is is underrated indeed. I and my wife spent two days in this peaceful place. Rooms are spacious, clean and well furnished. The best rooms are on the first floor and you can see the beech from the balcony. Staff is very well behaved and helpful. Breakfast, for some reason is served in the room and you have little choice. It is always egg, toast, fruits and tea/coffee with no other options.
Overall, I feel this place deserves to be better rated.

Room Tip: Get rooms on the first floor.

We had booked and payed in advance trough Agoda. When we arrived at about 11 we were told that the room wasn't ready yet, but would be ready in 30 minutes. It took one and a half hour. While waiting, we were told we colud take something to drink at the beach cafe belonging to the hotel. We ordered pineapple juice. After 20 minutes were about to leave and go somewhere else, but then the juice came after a few minutes. The waiter's excuse was that the kitchen was very busy with making breakfast. This was obviously not correct, as no one was having breakfast then.
The room was very basic, but with a good balcony on the corner facing a garden on two sides. The lights on the balcony, however, were not stable, they would come and go.
Although they spent one and a half hour making our room ready, there was no toilet paper, no soap, no sheets in the bed. Table cloths and floors in restaurant were dirty.
If we hadn't payed for it already, we probably would have found something else.
But location is good, right on the beach, and pretty quiet.

And make no mistake my friends, it was a pleasant one. We were apprehensive of the quality cleanliness and general standards of service before we embarked on our Sri Lankan journey on 27th Dec 2013. Contrary to our concerns, genuinely Sri Lanka is a pleasant place to stay in... visit some places. But the beaches take the cake. Unawatuna is pretty. And Sea View Guest House with its unpretentious but responsive service was one we enjoyed the most. They had accomodated almost all our requirements though they they tried testing our intelligence by offering a pigeon hole kind of rooms in the beginning which we flatly refused. The waiters are very courteous, the manager was constantly smiling and taking care of us nicely. I asked for a cup of tea early morning at 5am though the restaurant opens only at 7am, they served me tea at 5. Rooms are very basic but clean, ac working, reasonably big bathrooms (the room was launched only a week ago, so everyone was new).

It is cheap, we paid i guess 3000 inr per day. But f

Room Tip: Go for the newly built rooms. they are fresh though basic

Sea View is located as the last guest house at the end of the road running along the beach.
It is a basic guesthouse with OK rooms all having private bathrooms. The best rooms is situated on first floor where you have a good view over the beach. The restaurant is on the beach and due to a new stone breaker constructed at the entrance of the bay, the beach has in one year added 50 meters of sand, so really fantastic to sit in the evening on the beach hearing the waves and eating lots of good sea food.
Unawatuna is also a very relaxed place with many interesting small shops and good beach restaurants. Small reef also situated just in front of guesthouse but water not very clear when we visited in November.

Located right on the beach this guesthouse is perfectly located. Breakfast are taken on the beach, in front of the sea. Rooms are average and bathroom could be cleaner. But staff amability and hotel good location worth it.

The sea view is in a great spot, right beside the beach. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The hotel is a little tired. Needs some maintenance. The room was tidy. A/C was working well. We had to ask for sheets. The towels were a decent size. The shower was not great. Water pressure was bad on most days. The water was hot. The restaurant was basic. Food was ok. Service was at times a little slow. Beware Saturday evening is music night. From 6pm until 3, 4 am. The music was terrible, a thumping noise that vibrated through the whole building. Staff were polite. A tuk tuk to Galle fort cost 350 to 500 depending on driver. Oh room 9 key can unlock the room next door be careful. Over all stay was ok the main advantage is the beach.

Room Tip: Room 9 had good A/C

We stayed here for 1 night in a family room as we were 4 friends. This guest house was very nice, clean and just next to sea beach, sea was seen from our balcony. Hotel staffs are really nice, helpful and innocent enough. They were helpful. Food was not so nice as we had breakfast following morning. We change this hotel because WiFi was not working and was high price.

Room Tip: Ask room number 4. As this room is just next to sea beach and can see sea from balcony. If you have...
