After a super hectic Sri Lankan tour of 7 days, we really enjoyed our stay in this cozy hotel! Nice swimming pool, good food (plus a very nice collection of wines!) and service. Our room was in a building little away from the main dining area, reception and the pool, totally chilled and relaxed, with the nice balcony. The decor and furniture were tastefully selected. It deserves the name of the "flower garden" as they apparently are keeping a lot of beautiful flowers, trees and other plants. It seemed perfect for families with kids, but we (a young married couple) could not enjoy it less. It is away from the beach, but the beach itself was very average, so most of the time we were just chilling at the hotel. There is life music every Sat and Wed, unfortunately we did not get a chance to experience it due to Sri Lankan new year holidays. It is also not super cheap, but you definitely get what you are paying for!

Room Tip: A building across the little lane where we stayed seemed more quite, as in the main complex there we...

The flower garden has everything a family need. Swimming pool, good food and a relaxed atmosphere. Will certainly stay there again. Outside of the hotel, would recommend a visit to the jungle beach. A 25 minute walk through a section of rain Forrest. There are some steep and rocky sections so not recommended for people with limited movement. Mid point there is a guy who sells coconuts. Stop and chat, meet the monkey that stays there and try a fresh coconut.

Room Tip: We had cabanas 26 and 26B which combined were bigger than needed for a family of 4 (sleeps 6) The ba...

We stayed for three nights as part of our tour of Sri Lanka. It is true guests were mainly in groups but there were other couples, some of whom we had met in other hotels around the island. The manager was very friendly and helpful although some of the restaurant staff were less so. We ate out mostly although the food in the hotel was of reasonable quality. It was mainly European style with few choices for vegetarians. The pool and grounds were pleasant but compact. We did not swim in the pool or relax beside it because the loungers were all occupied from early in the morning until late. The cabana we stayed in was quite dark and the furniture had a heavy feel.. Faulty bedside lamps were repaired quite quickly. WiFi was slow and intermittent and only available around the main building.

I made a mistake booking us into the Flower Garden. It's a hotel designed for package tourists fleeing the gloom of Europe in the winter. We're independent travellers. We hated the Flower Garden and fled after one night.

I had e-mailed before our arrival to reconfirm our reservation, made a month earlier also by e-mail. Nonetheless, after we reached the place, the reception clerk drew a blank. Did we have a copy of the e-mail? Finally he conceded that he 'could provide us a room.' Said deluxe $US79 cottage was dimly lit, crowded with furniture, heavily air-conditioned and hermetically sealed against the mozzie-laden air outdoors. Our bathroom was fine, however, and so was breakfast. Only western food is available. No wi-fi in the room. The big pool was so heavily chlorinated that it burned my eyes. Oh, and the beach is 300 meters distant.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel, nothing was too much hassle for the staff.

The hotel is surrounded by lush tropical plants making it feel like an oasis.

The rooms were very comfortable, clean and had cold aircon. The showers were awesome too!

The manager always helped with our requests and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food here is excellent! The only issue we experienced was the Wifi being extremely slow.....

The hotel is just a short walk to the beach and all the beautiful restaurants on the beach!

In a great location on a busy street full of cafés, roti bars, souvenir shops etc, 10 mins walk to beach.
Lovely setting, a little intimate, but if you don't mind making friends it's a great environment to strike up a friendly conversation.
Food very good quality but mostly European (good for fussy kids). Staff efficient but not overly welcoming or friendly.
Rooms basic but perfectly functional. We had 2 rooms, one had a shower that didn't drain and a broken window pane covered with plastic. It would have been really easy for someone to put their hand through the polythene and open the window latch from the outside, didn't make us feel very safe! The mosquito nets could do with a wash but all minor glitches that I'm sure will be put right and wouldn't stop us visiting here again.

We stayed for 6 nights in a deluxe cabana.
The place is really beautiful: lovely pool, and basic but nice cabanas in a garden setting amongst trees, flowers and plants.
The restaurant is small, but the food is excellent and all the staff are friendly and helpful.
They have opened a new restaurant over the road but we didn't eat there.
The breakfast is ok; they give you a monster fruit platter which I found a bit over the top, tea or coffee, toast and eggs any style.
The air conditioning wasn't working very well in room 5; it was on but not cooling the room, so we were moved into room 1 which was a bit better but still not quite adequate for the heat.
Our friends stayed in a family cabana room 15 which was huge; 2 big bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Their air con was too good and they had to turn the temperature up as they were too cold....
They give you towels for the pool and different towels for the beach which is nice, and free water every day. The rooms have a fridge which is essential.
The poolside is a bit limited for space for many sun loungers, most of which are totally in the shade, but if you want to laze in the sun all day you can go to the beach.
We've stayed closer to the beach on a couple of other occasions but it's well worth the 10 minute walk from the beach to get away from the crowds and the noise of the bars.
Overall I would thoroughly recommend this place despite the minor air con issue. It deserves its excellent rating for both food and accommodation and you won't be disappointed if you choose to stay here.
