This was the only real hotel we stayed in in Sri Lanka (the rest were guest houses). You would definitely find cheaper (way cheaper) places around, but we were pleased to have hotel standard for a change - rooms were very clean, huge bed, towels changed daily, room cleaned daily etc. The hotel has two parts - there is a restaurant + sun beds right on the beach, and across a narrow road there is the reception and the rooms and also a pool they seem to be very proud of (it is true it was the only one we saw in Sri Lanka, but why would you get into a pool when there is a gorgeous beach right there). The room was big, there was a wardrobe so no complaints,
The service was ok but it was sort of like they were trying to be professional but still in training :) Breakfast quite nice, my friend was tired of eggs that they seem to serve everywhere for breakfast so she asked for curd which wasn't on the menu and it was no problem.
Unawatuna beach is beautiful but quite small, good place for swimming though as there are only tiny waves compared to other places. The village itself is quite charming - lots of beach restaurants and also cafes along the road, it is one of the livelier places. A bus to Galle takes only 20-30 mins and it is definitely worth the visit.

One of the best places we stayed in during our trip to Sri Lanka. Unawatuna is great place, especially if you like to party and have good fun. Staff in Neptune-Bay and especially Dilan made us feel very welcome there. You really feel like you are amongst friends! The place is just beautiful, with cozy big beds,a lovely pool and the ocean just outside your window. It really has it all., and the staff do make a difference!!! Highly recommended.

We stayed at the hotel for the new year. Experience the highest. Attention of staff at the highest level. Not knowing the language we not hurt, we all went to a meeting, tried to
any desire. We wanted to another room with ocean view, as soon As I had the opportunity to immediately resettled. Rooms are great, any fault immediately eliminated.
Kitchen at the highest level. Relax in the evening on the shore of the ocean, the sound of the waves is an unforgettable impression. Everything is super!

Myself and my wife stayed here as part of our honeymoon just before Christmas and the staff were amazing. They couldn't do enough for us, making sure everything was looked after and even beautifully preparing the room for our arrival.
The room was a huge space with separate en suite shower and toilet, air con, tv and a huge balcony overlooking the pool and the Indian Ocean. The bed was an amazingly comfortable (probably the best we slept in in Sri Lanka) four-poster with mozzie net and the room was quiet and peaceful (TIP: open the balcony door a little to hear the waves! Beautiful!)
Staff were SO nice. Sanjeewa was there to greet us on arrival and made sure everything was in order. I cannot recommend this place enough.

If you take this hotel you're gambling and even if you win the results are poor. They have new rooms that they are showing in the web site and old dirty rooms that are worst then filthy guest house. We booked 2 rooms 3 months in advance for the new rooms and our agent also came to the hotel a couple of days before we came to see the rooms and made full payment. When we arrived they wanted to put us in the old rooms. When we refused to take the rooms they mentioned the new rooms as told us that it'll be available only on the next day. Since it's high season all the good hotels were fully booked and we ended up in a guest house with better rooms then the hotel for one night before coming back to the hotel. Although the new rooms look nice the breakfast was poor and there are no hot water after 9pm. The manager told us the it's not healthy to take hot shower...

We stayed two nights at this hotel, in the yet-to-be-refurbished side. Our room was reasonably clean while our bed, queen-sized with mosquito net, was lumpy. Our pillows were lumpier. The room had A/C, fan, TV (one channel) and Wi-Fi access (all subject to intermittent power outages). The staff are helpful. The view from our balcony of the Indian Ocean, less than 20 metres away, was lovely.

Breakfast was included and the restaurant was across the small road, directly above the narrow beach. There are a range of other restaurants within walking distance. This was a nice place to relax at the end of our holiday, and good value.
