I spent a week at Frangipani Tree, enjoying the amazing location (yes, it is exactely how it looks in the picture) and the flawless services. The staff is there to cater to every need, the food (from breakfast to dinner) is simply excellent (make sure you try the srilankan breakfast!). If swimming in pool while watching the ocean in the perfect tropical setting is your dream holiday, the Frangipani Tree is the place to go.

We stayed here in March 2014 and had a fantastic time for 3 days and nights. It is actually a couple of km down the coastal road from Unawatuna which is a good thing as this is much better than being in town. The staff were very friendly and attentive (even inviting me and my father in law to play cricket with them one Sunday). The food was excellent and the beach and pool both beautiful. You can't swim in the sea here but it is a very short walk or tuk-tuk ride to get to places you can.

We particularly enjoyed seeing the turtles playing in the sea right in front of the hotel and also the thousands of swallows nesting in the palm trees every dusk.

The rooms were really brilliant, I've never stayed anywhere with such a spectacular bathroom before! Really enjoyed the four poster beds and large verandas for evening drinks. Overall a reat place that we would love to go back to.

Room Tip: We didn't see the Olive Ridley rooms but the other two room types (Loggerhead and Hawskbill?) we...

We ended our 10 day family trip around Sri Lanka by spending three wonderful and relaxing days at the Frangipani Tree. Justyna and all of the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating to any of our needs while the food was fresh and delicious. The grounds, pool and rooms were well tended to and clean. Being a boutique hotel, it felt very private and you are able to truly relax with the sound of the surf right next to you. The beach is beautiful though the rips make it too dangerous for swimming. A very short trip to Unawatuna is recommended for that. Nevertheless, my children had a great time on the beach while my wife and I soaked in the view. Sometimes I'd find the high tide line strewn with some debris from the ocean but the staff were quick to rake that up. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and I highly recommend it if you're not in need of a ton of onsight diversions that a large resort hotel will offer.

I had my wedding at The Frangipani Tree in February and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. Lovely venue, great staff, Justyna and Wojciech were helpful and very friendly, and the day was perfect. Only advice would be to bring ear-plugs if the sound of the sea is enough to stop you sleeping - it is hard to block it out sometimes, especially when the wind is blowing.

I stayed at the Frangipani Tree in March with two old school friends. It was a trip of a lifetime for us, and this hotel just made it more special. The staff are always at hand to help out, and Justyne - the manager - had brilliant suggestions on where to go, what to see, and help organise day trips. We didn't want to leave! I will return if at all possible. Fantastic place, beautiful rooms, delicious food (have the fresh fish of the day - it was simply delicious) - we couldn't have asked for more. And having a lovely outside bath was an extra that was strange to get used to, but we loved it!

Room Tip: We stayed in Hawksbill, which was great as was on the edge, so even more secluded.

As for many people this was our chill out time at the end of a busy, memorable sightseeing tour of Sri Lanka. It was a great place to do just that. The Olive Ridley upper 2 room was minimal, spacious, cool and calming. The views and sound of the oceon and the barnswallows (who nest in the trees from Nov to April) were incredible. Staff were friendly and helpful, the grounds, room and pool were immaculately clean and the food was delicious. The lap pool with a view through the palm trees to the beach was perfect.

Room Tip: Oliver Ridley upper 2 is the biggest rom with great views but has no outside space.

I stayed at Frangipani Tree for a week in March 2014 with friends. Honestly we never wanted to leave. The property is so private and secluded. The rooms are beautiful and simple with stunning outdoor bathroom. Justyne who manages the hotel was always on hand to arrange all our activities and guide us through the best things to do with our week. All her recommendations turned out to be our highlights and we were so grateful for all her help and ideas. There was nothing the staff would not do to make us comfortable and ensure our stay was perfect, from booking us in- room massage to bringing us tea on our terrace daily. The food was the other highlight, we tried lots of the different places around Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa and Galle but the beautiful fresh and delicious food kept us staying in Frangipani Tree for many of our meals. The fresh tuna was divine. Honestly you won't regret staying here if you love luxury, quality, peace and friendliness. Only thing worth noting is that, like everywhere along that coast in that area, the sea is noisy so something to consider if you need complete silence to fall asleep.
