“Excellent value for money!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2014

We chose this hotel as we wanted somewhere to stay overnight near to Bangkok International Airport. Although the hotel is around 20 minutes away from the airport for someone who knows where it is, our taxi driver did have problems finding it (even though we gave him a map provided to us by the hotel) so it took around 40 minutes to get there. For us it was, however, a good option as we did not want to go into Bangkok and the hotel was in a quiet area (albeit with several restaurants and a market nearby) so we got a very good sleep. The owners are very friendly, the room was perfectly clean and comfortable with air-conditioning and there was a beautiful pool (which unfortunately we didn't get round to using). It is also possible to eat by the pool (they order the meals in from a local restaurant). For less than 15 euros a night this is definitely extremely good value for money.

We really appreciate the good review but we must correct one small detail. All the food on our menu is freshly cooked in our kitchen on the ground floor with fresh ingredients. We freely admit that this can sometimes take a long time and, if guests are not comfortable with this situation, they are free to bring food from outside. We provide crockery and cutlery free of charge and only ask that guests wash up after they have eaten. We are happy with this situation as we make very little profit (if any) from cooking food on the premises.

I've been here for a week intended to stay only 3 days 2 for recovery from the exausting flight and 1 waiting for a friend.
I got sucked in by the easy going, nonjudgmental, friendly staff the fun atmosphere. Oh damn their food is good; cooked fresh all day, room service 24/7 prices are super reasonable (sure you pay a bit more for dinner than in a street stall, but it's delivered poolside by their cool, and attentive staff) (oh and fer godsake tip the staff for the service)
The pool is a god sent an escape from the March heat.
Okay, why do I say "you're crazy to stay anywhere else"? If you are coming off a long flight or want to catch an early flight then its close to the airport.....LOW PRICE set to not rob you of your final bhat or your first bhat. Beyond that we have met nice people and had deep philosophical conversations with people from all corners of the world and all walks of life.
The owner is a hoot he is continually maintaining the place (which keeps it fully functioning) or jumping into the pool it's obvious he enjoys his property and maintains a friendly deminor even when working hard to make sure you are comfortable.
POSITIVES: PRICE, PRICE, PRICE...
Internal environment, rooms are clean with good water pressure,
there are rooms with electric hot water on demand, (mine has)
good food, laundry service PRICE is reasonable;
informed front desk staff, helpful friendly and speaking english (a major help for me)
NEGATIVES: far from downtown; neighborhood seems dangerous but it's but not just outside the private drive watch the local lads play sepak takraw a no hands vollyball game,
bit confusing for cabs but have them call the Hotel there is desk staff 24/7
Not close to shopping if yer in to that kind of thing
Strange sidewalk beside a quite dark water canal 2 blocks away (this has nothing to do with the hotel just came to mind)

Stayed for two nights in the family room booked through Adoda at $50USD per night. The family room was actually two rooms (324 and 326) joined together by a connecting door that could be locked from both sides. Both rooms were of a good size with AC, well furnished with comfy beds, and 326 had a small balcony that connected to the bathroom and 324 came with a bath tub. We had issues with the AC in room 324 but it was quickly rectified when pointed out to staff. Both rooms came with wall mounted flat screen TV’s with a good selection of western channels.
The highlight for us was undoubtedly the great pool area and friendly staff, in particular the owners Dick and Winni who were always available for a chat or to offer advice to travellers. The pool is situated between the two main buildings and has an open area through the middle that allows for a wonderful cooling breeze. The pool area is well laid out, with plenty of tables and chairs, and is always well congregated and a great place to meet fellow travellers and share a story over a beer or two. They offer 24 hour room service with a great selection of dishes at affordable prices. Whilst there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room they do provide tea and coffee on an honour based system. They have stations set up by the pool and downstairs and you grab a cup of whatever you want and just place 10 baht in the jar. We never tried them but noticed there was a little fitness area with weights and a running machine and also a sauna nearby (200 baht for sauna).
Outside of the hotel a visit to the Old Market is a must. It is a ten minute walk away situated in the grounds of a nearby temple and running alongside a klong (waterway). Great Thai street food is available here and many bargains (Thai prices) to be found by those keen on a bit of shopping. There are also a couple of ATM’s within the grounds of the temple. At the back of the Old Market you can cross the klong to Big C by way of the “boat bridge” for the princely sum of 1 baht! Crossing this bridge is an experience in itself. If you are looking for some real dining value turn left at the entrance of the temple and walk about 10 minutes, crossing a small bridge where you will come across a Thai buffet on the right. It opens around 5ish in the evening and you can fill your boots for 139 baht, including prawns. The Sawanawan is geared more towards the budget conscious traveller and those looking for somewhere to stay within a half hours drive to Suvarnabhumi airport. It is laid back, quirky and represents great value. A taxi to the airport can be arranged by staff and will cost 200 baht. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sananawan Palace and would willingly return again in the future.

Last night of a 7 week trip to Thailand, stayed for one night before leaving for London. Lovely relaxing, quiet and friendly place. The staff (especially the lady on reception) were welcoming and informative and spoke excellent English. The room was very clean and the 24 hour room food service was perfectly good.
There was a super Thai market a few minutes walk away (better than many other markets we had experienced in Thailand) and a Big C supermarket for last minute food buys.
Taxi from airport (metered taxi) and to airport (arranged by hotel) were good value.
This hotel is very good value for money.

We were staying at Sananwan Palace during a business trip, and it is a perfect place for staying and working, because it's very quiet (much quieter than the city centre), the room in cheap, clean and very spacious.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and they also gave us a big and confortable table for working.
Thee swimming pool and the little fitness centre are a great added value, becuase they are included in the price of the room, and they are wonderful to enjoy some moment of relax and sport.
The surroundings of the hotel are not turistic at all, and we liked that, because it's plenty of local, delicious and cheap places to eat thai food near the market (5 min by walk), near the big temple.
We will come back for sure!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the superior room with fan and it was great, spacious and not too hot. If you stay long...

Stayed here to avoid the taxi trip from the city before a 5a departure from BKK.

The joke was on us, however, as the taxis to the airport are flat rate, and only end up being perhaps 50 THB less than from Sukhumvit.

In my early-morning stupor I managed to leave a camera lens in the room. Upon discovering this error (now back in the US), I emailed the hotel, simply asking if they had found it in the room.

To date - 3 emails later - I have not even heard back from the hotel. Listen, lie to me if you must, but to simply ignore me is unacceptable.

A fine enough place overall, but poor value simply given the quality of accommodation that one can get on Sukhumvit for the same price, and given that the taxi savings to BKK are negligible.
