We stayed at Tambor Tropcial in August for 3 days. The rooms are quite beautiful and the staff is very accomodating. Our problem was that we booked the rooms without realizing that there is no air conditioning. We had 2 rooms on the top and one room on the bottom floor. The first night was misery...the ceiling fans were not sufficient to cool the rooms off from the hot and muggy atmosphere. We moved to rooms located on the bottom floor for the rest of our stay and these rooms were more tolerable. Even the staff commented that it is really hot and would be nice to have ac in the rooms. We enjoyed our stay here but would not book again due to no airconditioning available. If we visit this area again we would stay in similiar accomodations at Tango Mar, with ac. I probably sound like a spoiled crybaby and it was our own fault that we did not check to make sure that the rooms were airconditioned. I just want to make sure that any other spoiled crybabies that enjoy airconditioning in climates where the temperature is 97 degrees and the humidity is extremely high do not make the same mistake that we did.

We recently went on a trip to CR, and stayed at Tambor Tropical. This place is comprised of "casitas" that surround the pool. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served poolside.

The Casitas are beautiful, made of a variety of local woods, and spotlessly clean. The staff are kind and very helpful. There is no television, telephone or airconditioning. Who cares?? The ceiling fans and the louvered wood window slats kept it cool enough during the day, and we even used a light blanket at night.

It is a 5 minute walk to "town" where there is a lovely restaurant , as the dinner menu is limited and a little pricey. You can pick up tours from the hotel as well.

I highly recommend Tambor Tropical if you want a quiet, peaceful place to use as a base for other activities in Tambor

This is a very small, intimate, quiet, & beautiful hotel on Tambor beach, at the tip of the Nicoya penninsula. All of the rooms are in these beautifully crafted pavillions, which are constructed of multiple types of exotic hardwoods. My room was huge, and it had a wonderful sunken shower. There's no AC, but there were 2 powerful ceiling fans, and it cooled down nicely at night. The pool/jacuzzi/bar/restaurant area was stunning, with beautiful landscaping & nice wooden furnishings, which match the pavillions. There were a number of lounging/sitting platforms facing the beach, which were just perfect for total relaxation. The service at the restaurant/bar was generally pretty good, and the staff were pretty friendly. I was very glad that one of my friends spoke fluent Spanish. The lush green jungle foliage & the aqua blue ocean made for a beautiful setting, but it isn't the best beach I've seen. We only stayed there 2 nights, but later wished that we could've stayed much longer, and we talked about when we could return to the Tambor Tropical for another dose of tropical paradise.

We were married on the grounds of Tambor Tropical and spent a week there. As you pull into the Resort you will think you have arrived in Tahati instead of Costa Rica. Gorgeous beyond words and the staff could not have been more kind and accommodating. The units are of local hardwoods and the beds are elevated so that you can see the sun rise right from your bed each morning. The beach in front of the property is unspoiled and wild horses roam and frolick.

The grounds are impeccably kept and the views are spectacular. Very convenient location for seeing most of Nicoya Peninsula and the bus service is very good and reliable.

The restaurant on the property is top notch and our dinners were all very romantic - to be taken in our room on poolside.

WE HIGHLY recommend Tambor Tropical for all ages!
