We ran down the hill from our Rustic Lodge room on a rainy night to the bright interior of Bistro Bon Appetit. The restaurant could be in any big city, but here it is at the bend of a rocky dirt road a short walk from the Rustic Lodge. Tables are set with brightly colored napkins and mood lighting. The building is like an octagon with windows on all sides giving a bright, airy feel. Our host was a handsome Tico dressed in shirt and tie. Our salad of arugula, lettuce and green olives was lightly dressed and seasoned with just the right amount of salt -- perfecto! I had the tenderloin, a steak cooked to perfection with sautéed vegetables like cauliflower, carrots and string beans. The potatoes were large, home made fries with a crunchy texture on the outside and perfectly-cooked potatoe on the inside, quite unlike any potato fry I've had and so yummy. Out host was helpful and went out of his way to get the weather report for us for the following days trip to Lake Arenal. My husband had spaghetti octopus with a tasty red sauce. The previous day we came for lunch but were cut short when our tour van arrived. The staff were very accommodating, quickly preparing our lunch to go and even pouring our drink into a paper cup so we could take it with us. The vegetarian sandwich with tuna had good flavor and was served on a large roll, enough for two lunches. The ham and cheese was served on a large roll and both orders came with tasty French fries. Bon Appetite satisfies in every way -- food, atmosphere, friendliness, and service. Highly recommended.
