The owners of this hotel are very helpful and friendly. It's located just outside the main part of Santa Elena, about a 10-minute walk. The town is on a mountain, so expect a bit of a climb on the way back :) Our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. There weren't any of the typical "extras" (coffee pot, TV, alarm clock), so if you need to wake up early for a tour or transportation, be sure to pack a travel alarm. As others have mentioned, the walls are thin so you do hear everything around you. Breakfast was excellent and varied. If you need to arrange a tour, the owners are very helpful and will make the reservation for you without charging a fee. We were also able to leave our luggage for awhile after we checked out, since we had to wait a couple of hours before our shuttle arrived. Great value!

We stayed with 4 persons in the family room. Don't expect a fancy hotel or luxuary but it has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Room is very clean, breakfast is good. Owners are very friendly. Computers are available at the reception area.
The only problem was sometimes the noise because of the very thin walls between the rooms.
All in all, we can recommend this lodge.

This is how we've been greeted at this small charming hotel!

The room was spacious, very clean, with comfortable bed. The breakfast is tasty and nourishing. The coffee served is one of the best we had in Costa Rica. The location of the hotel is just outside the Santa Elena touristic streets and on the way to Selvatura park.

Jose and Ernesto, thanks again for the wonderful time we had at your place.
Pura vida!

Two night stay was excellent. We expected a more rustic place and it is that but with cleanliness and charm. Food was more than adequate. Family atmosphere from the owners was refreshing. Over all great value for simple accommodations.
Owners allowed us to leave our vehicle in the parking lot for a two day trip to Arenal after we checked out.

The lodge was very clean and we had a large bedroom and bath. Loved all the beautiful wood features. Jose and Ernesto greeted us and were always there to help us out with getting a ride or using the computer. Breakfasts were filling and tasty. We especially liked the location---quite and peaceful with Santa Elena just a short walk. Also just down the steep hill was a terrific restaurant with delicious Costa Rican cuisine "Sabor Tico"-----we ate there 3 nights in a row and had ringside seats outside to watch soccer being played across the street. You can't get more authentic than that! Pura Vida

Room Tip: Our room was upstairs facing the street with a balcony outside our room.

Stayed for two nights. Good clean room, decent shower, very friendly staff, simple but good breakfast, they organised an excellent guide for the cloud forest as well as our night hike. Was a really solid place to stay if you have your own transport as its just outside of town. Make sure and grab a burrito at tico tico!

No tv, no aircon, but neither was needed. Wifi was 4 star.

Walls are a bit thin! Heard a lot of snoring!

Room Tip: Ask for one with good walls!

An easy walk into St Elena, the rooms were small but clean with a nice little garden to look out on. Unfortunately our room had a fusty smell that we couldn't get rid of, even though things looked pretty clean. Whilst we received a very warm welcome and the breakfast was good, the front desk was often un-manned and so we ended up booking our tours at the Tourist Info Office in town, even though we would have booked through the hotel if someone had been around. The hotel has a laundry service that was cheaper than we'd seen elsewhere.
I'd recommend the veggie casados at Rico and Ticos, drinks at the Tree House Cafe and the coffee ice-cream/liqueur special at Morphos Restaurant. An early morning walk in the Monteverde National Park is also a must!

Dear friends,
Thank you for you time to let us know your feedback. This is the only way we can improve our small lodge in Monteverde.
Unfortunately in your stay, we just painted the room to have it in best conditions but we did not know about the smell of this new paint. We already took care of it in order to do not have this inconvenience for other guests. Please accept our apologize.

Our reception is open from 6am to 9pm, Jose, Marcelo or Ernesto are always here to help with information about things to do in Monteverde.

We hope you can take a break to stop by again and share our lodge... with a great cup of coffee!
