Stayed here in August 2010 and August 2011, it's a perfect hotel for families.
Obzor itself might not be the best choice for young people, but for me it a perfect resort.
The hotel is right on the beach, and it rates "Excellent" in almost all categories as far as I am concerned.

The hotel was very clean, and always tidy, the staff were friendly and always willing to help you (which was great as this was our first holiday alone, a tad bit daunting). welcomed on arrival with bucks fizz and a very friendly member of staff was lovely after the long trip. a wide variety of food for lunch and evening meal meant that you weren't eating the same things day after day. The reserving of tables for dinner was an excellent idea, you could choose from being inside or outside which is lovely when its warm to sit by the sea whilst eating. the Bulgarian restaurant was an interesting experience, not to my taste but it was definitely worth trying. The pool was clean and access to the beach via the hotel was quick and easy. the rooms were cleaned daily, though they wouldn't clean it if you left the DND sign on the door. there was pretty much always food and drink on offer to you throughout the day which was good if you'd been on a trip and were hungry. the alcoholic drinks were very generously poured. overall I have no complaints about any of my stay at the hotel. its in good walking distance (less than 5 minutes) to the local town which was also lovely.

Just returned from 2 weeks at Helios Bay and will definitely be going back.

From the moment we checked in early hours Sat morning to a welcome drink and snacks to check out 9pm Fri we couldn't fault the service we received. We paid extra for the late check out as flight was late night and was good to be able to shower and rest before the journey home.
Our room was immaculate and bigger than any room I've stayed in before with a view of the pool and the beach. Loved lying in bed with the balcony door open watching and listening to the waves.
Rest of hotel was immaculate and well cared for.
Pool area which I spent most of my time was great, well cared for with plenty loungers and parasols and a great pool bar to keep you going all day. Along with the lobby bar and saloon bar the drink choices were great and staff were always pleasant and smiling.
Food was great with plenty of choices. Never go hungry as can eat all day if you wanted...
Few times we were there was different theme nights for dinner which were really good and a chance to try food you wouldn't usually try. Waiting staff were really friendly and efficient, nothing too much trouble.
Hotel also supply bottles of water free and beach towels which can be changed daily.
Entertainment as with most hotel entertainment is a hit or miss but the entertainment team put all their energy into doing the best they can, and all seem happy doing it.
We didn't have kids with us but we did notice how much the kids loved the staff at the kids club, so much so that one child was crying when it was time to leave them to home with her parents.
We did pay for the safe which we found to be quite expensive at 65 lev for the 2 weeks.
If you go to this hotel do not be put off by the street it sits on as the area is under developed an a few half built apartment blocks around but that just shows what an up and coming area Obzor is, just hope it doesn't become too developed and ruin the natural feel of the place.

Just returned from a week here 2nd to 9th September, first time in Bulgaria but definitely not our last - transfers were direct both ways & we were greeted with snacks & welcome drink at 2.30am! The hotel is superb - spacious & kept immaculate, a wonderful location on a beautiful sandy beach in a quiet area but not too far into town. We had a huge room with a sea view - two double beds plus a large seating area down some steps, very large balcony no problems with the room at all plus large shower room with hairdryer. Unlike other reviews we found the staff lovely - friendly, extremely helpful and great service with a smile. The pool area is great and very well looked after with plenty of beds & brollies with more on the beach. One tip - ask for green pool towels as they cover the whole bed unlike the white ones! Great staff at the pool bar who then work in the lobby bar after 6pm when that closes - they were efficient, very friendly & it must be a great hotel to work for as they were always smiling and happy. The staff in the Saloon Bar were just as friendly too. There is plenty going on for those that want to join in but you are not pressurised however the 'welcome dance' by the entertainment crew is great! We only saw one show in the evenings, a magician, but that was our choice so can't comment further on that. The food is excellent - plenty of choice - breakfast they bring you an insulated jug of fresh coffee & leave it on your table - cereals, yoghurts, toast, fresh rolls, pastries & fruit, cold cuts, cheese etc. & full cooked breakfast too including omelettes - start the day well! We had lunch down by the pool where there is pasta, pizza, hot dogs, cold cuts, fresh bread & rolls, chips & pastries, fresh fruit & lovely ice cream. Dinner is in two sessions 6 to 7.30 & 8 to 9.30 & you are allocated the same table for dinner for your stay - there is plenty of choice whatever you might fancy in fact it is hard to choose & all delicious - we had some beef which melted in the mouth. There is a mix of nationalities but one thing stood out for us, unlike some other places we have been - Turkey & Egypt especially - they were generally all very friendly. There are plenty of lifts we had access to four near our room. Barney the Thomson Rep deserves a mention as he goes the extra mile - literally - he takes anyone wanting to go on a walk into Obzor pointing out places of interest - restaurants, shops & what they sell that is local product, banks, money exchanges etc. with a stop at one of the bars for free pizza & a drink! We thoroughly enjoyed it & the return leg took in the old fisherman's part of the town area & beach bars. Well worth doing. The Manager is always visible around the hotel & also attends the welcome meeting to introduce himself & staff - useful as we found out that if we wanted a bottle of water anytime all we had to do was ask at Reception & it was free - people who didn't attend were buying it in the shop! If I had one gripe it would be that you are charged 40 Lv for your safety deposit key which for a 4 star hotel I find unusual, I would have preferred to give that to the staff. We will definitely be returning & highly recommend.

Room Tip: We emailed ahead & asked for a quiet room, which they said they would try & do & the room we got was brilliant - maybe the side facing the football pitch would not be quiet!
