Our tour included a visit to this fortress, and we were quite impressed. Great views over the local area.

We climb up with 3, 7 and 9 years old, and no regrets. There are two optional routes, we recommend to start from riverside - it`s steeper but much nicer to climb in the tree shadows. Parking is free and it is also a kind of mystery to find startpoint from riverside, hint to others; drive/walk through a tunnel beside the river and the route stars behind the parking lot and playgroud. From there you can also see the hight and calculate is that for you. Our kids didn`t mind about the lenght or high when they can climb in the woods. Good shoes, playful mind, three litres of water and some active kids may help also.

And when you can first time to see the view, all the sweat was worth it. (We are no experts on climbing)...

The fortress visit cost 15kn per person and there was water and cola for sale.

The other route was kind of easier, but almost all the way in the sun. The trail was also easier to walk than the path in the woods but sun makes the decend hard enough. The view of this side is to the sea and Omis town and trail goes to the old town.

Time? With our family it took about an hour to get up and other to get down with several snack breaks. The sign in the start told that the riverside trail would take 45 minutes so not that bad.

Totally one of the best activities for cost of good feeling and little money!

Been up here a few times - it's a great short hike but make sure you have suitable shoes, a cap/hat and water as it is tough for unseasoned hikers with some sharp inclines. Take your time and all will be good!

This said I was surprised that in summer you have to pay to enter the fort, and in return you get nothing. No information at all. It's not a huge fee, but if you want to charge then offer something. If you go out of season, no-one will be up there for you to pay, so what does this say about Omis? Tourist money-grabbing rather than cultural heritage preservation. Get your act together please!

Was pretty hard to climb but when you are on the top you feel like a hero it! Amazing view and great feeling after all! Go there in the morning or evening time, and don’t forget to take water with you! Even 60-70 years old can do it !

The views from the top of the fortress are really amazing. you can see the whole harbour of Hvar and its comings and goings. The climb is however a little exhausting, but there are lots of seats and places to pause and take in the developing views. One additional benefit is that there is a café with shady seating at the fortress so you can recover before the trip down

Simply beautiful. Untouched, magnificent Croatian nature at its best. But of a beautiful hike but worth it. Views are breathtaking. I recommend for all ages. I can’t wait to go back and bring all my friends.

As a person with fear of hights I chose the easier way from Put Baucici. You can find a place to park the car for free but mind the spaces alloted to private houses. It's best to go rather early while there is still shade, at least for the climb up. It's not that steep, long or exhausting though. Yet, I would not recommend it for too young or unruly children. Definitely wearing comfortable hiking boots helps among the boulders and on slippery pieces of rock. There are signs directing to the path and the red and white circles marking the route are clear to follow. Enjoy. Entrance fee approx. 2 Euros. The vista priceless. Do not forget to take something to drink with you.

We walked from the bottom by the fire station up to the top following the signs. Parts of the trail were simple, most were quite rocky and not for the faint hearted. Wear trainers, bring water, and it will be worth it
