The location, the renovated rooms -state of the art architecture inside - the owner management and the food of the restaurant are exceptional, we go there again and again, because it is one of the nicest places in France

Room Tip: All rooms are different, we have been in at least 5 different rooms in the last years and still thin...

This hotel was originally a Scottish-type baronial mansion built by an Australian woman in the 1920s. So a bit of an anomaly in the Brittany countryside!

Managed by informative, friendly Alice, the building has been converted into a ten-room up-market hotel close to an adjoining beach. A beautiful location.

The hotel has a dining room which serves a good breakfast. Dinner is bought in from a local catering service company. In the evenings the dining room lacks all atmosphere; most of the guests eat elsewhere, it seems.

Our bedroom was in the basement - a modernistic black-and-red decorated design with an open shower and a tiny view of the garden. A bit disappointing,

Room Tip: Make sure you book a room with a view of the beach/sea

Manoir Dalmore was built by an Australian woman in 1926 who moved to Port Manec'h to be near the artists' colony at Pont Aven. It is in the Scottish baronial style and has been sympathetically converted into a ten-room hotel by the current owners.

Our room was in the converted basement and was a startling black and red decor with an open-plan shower area and a comfortable bed but a poor view of the gardens. Most other rooms overlook the small beach below the hotel.

The hotel has a dining room and breakfast is generous and ample. The evening meal seems to be provided by a local catering service. It was fine but the lack of atmosphere in the dining room (only one other couple present) rather offset the food.

Alice, the manager, was outstanding - helpful, informative, chatty.

Room Tip: Specify one with a sea view.

We stayed at Manoir Dalmore for 6 nights in September 2013. A very, very special place, Manoir Dalmore is a small, personal, beautifully run hotel. Our room was spacious and lovely with a view to the sea. The area was a delight to explore - walking, biking and driving. Very remote, quiet and peaceful. The owners and staff at the hotel could not possibly have been nicer. Friendly, helpful, warm and welcoming.

We stayed in this is a lovely boutique hotel for three nights 23/24/25th September 2013. It is a lovely location and the small beach only about 200 yds walk through the hotel gardens. If you want peace and quiet this is the place to go. Not far from lovely Pont Aven but short on local restaurants (but not perhaps in high season). Run by a young couple and are charming and gave us every attention. It does help if you can speak French. Wine list is ordinary and the dinner menu limited. We will certainly go back. The owners were keen to encourage us to book directly with them in future.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet; but use the hotel website to get a good idea of space and views

Stayed here September 2013 for four nights, a bit of a treat to end our holiday so we booked the Belon suite with private terrace. The room is beautiful and extremely comfortable with a view to die for.The private terrace is not private though, it is overlooked from the restaurant terrace above and is effectively shared with the other suite next door. Couple of other odd things, the toilet is in a separate room within the suite but doesn't have a sink so you have to walk to the opposite end to the shower room to wash your hands. There is no dressing table with mirror etc in the suite either. That said the bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Breakfast is buffet style with lots to chose from, you can have an egg but only if you boil it yourself in the contraption provided, and it's all very quiet you could hear a pin drop between whispered conversation so we gave it a miss after two mornings and as a consequence didn't try the restaurant either opting to seek out somewhere more sociable. At the end of the day it's down to whatever floats your boat and ours was left rather low in the water, fabulous in some ways but disappointing in others.

The Dalmore is in a superb location with views over the beach and bay from rooms at the front of the hotel. We stayed in the Rosbras room which is not overly large but very comfortable with great views from the large window in the main room and even a small arched window looking over the beach from the wet room.

The service at Dalmore was just right for our taste, informal but very attentive and helpful. The front desk is run by Alice during the day and we can only reiterate what others have said, Alice is a great asset to the hotel and will 'go the extra mile' to make your stay as comfortable and trouble free as possible.

On one occasion, after walking along the coast for 4.5 miles to the Ar Men Du restaurant at Raguenez, which was closed except for drinks... after walking all the way there just for lunch, we ended up in Nevez via a taxi of dubious origin booked for us by the lady at Ar Men Du. We intended to find a taxi or take a local bus back to the hotel, neither were available. We rang the hotel to see if they could find us a taxi, but, as this appeared to be impossible unless booked 24 hrs in advance, Alice suddenly turned up in her Fiat 500 to give us a very welcome lift back to the hotel! NOTE: taxis or buses are not really a viable option in this area unless booked well ahead. (this includes pre booking the bus!)

The menu in the hotel is fairly limited with regard to choice but the quality of the food and service is excellent, we ate in the restaurant 4 nights out of 7 and really enjoyed every meal. Alternatives for food within walking distance around Port Manech are limited, so you would need to be prepared to travel by car to eat anything anywhere near as good as the Dalmore in the local area.

All in all a lovely hotel for those wanting a quiet, chilled and relaxing break.

Room Tip: The more expensive rooms on the front are best if you want a good view!
